ManCity dominated the action and came 2-0 after 28 minutes through an own goal by Mukiele. Leipzig, for its part, did not give up at all and scored by the 23-year-old Nkunku (42nd). The joy, however, was short-lived. Mahrez changed from a point to a 3:1 break.
Only six minutes were played after the side change when Nkunku brought Leipzig into play for the second time. The Citizens had once again the right answer through Grealish and provided with the 4:2 clear conditions. In the 73rd minute Nkunku scored for the third time 3-4 from the point of view of the cops. Two minutes later, however, Cancelo nipped the hopes of equalising in the bud with a 5-3 victory. Gabriel offered Jesus the crowning finishing touches in a gripping set-up with a 6-3 final score.
Due to the more than clear victory on the first matchday, the team of coach Pep Guardiola immediately pushed itself to the first place in the group A. Pep also dreams of winning the premier class so far he has not yet succeeded in this endeavor with the Citizens. Last season, he lost 0-1 to Chelsea in the final. He had previously finished three times in the quarter-finals. As already mentioned, the odds clearly show ManCity as a favourite on the Henkelpott. A victory against PSG would be an important step towards group victory.
