Rafa will be monitored over the next few days ahead of the match against Gasp. Tomori is injured, Estupinan returns
The series of injuries is not over yet. Rather than emptying, the infirmary is a busy place: some are leaving, but others are at risk of entering. On the threshold is Rafa Leao, who was substituted after one half of the last match against Atalanta. Allegri immediately justified the decision with physical reasons (“Rafa hadn’t been feeling well during the week and couldn’t sprint anymore”), which then led to yesterday’s tests. The tests ruled out injury but confirmed inflammation in the hip, which inevitably affects Leao and his style of play, based on bursts of speed. There is doubt about the Roma game: the short week after the midweek fixture does not offer much time to fully recover. That does not mean that Leao will not try, quite the contrary. Reassured by the tests that showed no specific damage, Rafa will do everything he can to be there: the decision will be made in the next two training sessions. Leao would be a sure starter in the big match against the Giallorossi: since returning to the starting 11 in the league, he has scored three goals in as many games. Alongside him, with Pulisic out as he tries to get fit for Parma, Loftus-Cheek and Nkunku are warming up. Both came on against Atalanta: Loftus did better, but Nkunku has time to make up the deficit. Gimenez himself is injured: he also came off early in the Bergamo game with an ankle injury. Fik Tomori, on the other hand, finished the game but was not at his best: he is also out with a knee injury, but his form is what it is, partly due to a muscle problem, and he will be assessed towards the weekend.
Now for the good news: Estupinan and Jashari are back training with the group today, and the winger has recovered. It will take time for Ardon to regain his rhythm and intensity. Rabiot also wants to get back to full fitness quickly: it is possible that Max will have two of his best players available in Parma. Pulisic and Adrien (difficult but not impossible).
