Will Sevilla climb to first place in the meantime?

Also during the week, there is a separate kick-off time for almost every league match in the Spanish football top flight. The only exception is the 7pm kick-off time on Wednesday, when two matches are kicked off at the same time. Among others, Germany’s favourite island Mallorca and Sevilla will face each other.

In the current table, the promoted team from Mallorca is in a very good twelfth place in the table after ten rounds played and is thus actually the “weakest” promoted team at the moment. Despite the good start to the season, the team of head coach Luis Garcia is the clear underdog against the Andalusians. Betting odds of up to 5.50 are offered for a home win for Mallorca against Sevilla.

The red and whites from Sevilla are already back in fine form and are currently third in La Liga. Accordingly, the role of favourite for the Lopetegui eleven is no surprise. With a win in Mallorca, they can take the lead in the standings for the time being.

Mallorca – Statistics & current form

RCD Mallorca were able to celebrate their direct promotion last season. Under head coach Luis Garcia, the Mallorcans only had to settle for second place in the table because of the lost direct comparison with Espanyol Barcelona.

Famose start to the season, recently weakening

In their first games back, Mallorca made a lot out of very little. In their first three games, the promoted side collected seven points and scored just three goals. With the first defeat of the season, a 0:2 against Athletic Bilbao, the Garcia eleven got out of step. Since then, the only win for the promoted team has been a narrow 1-0 victory over winless UD Levante.

RCD Mallorca have collected eight of their twelve points at home in the Son Moix Stadium. In the process, veteran goalkeeper Manolo Reina has conceded just four goals in five home games, three of them in the only home defeat to CA Osasuna.

Dramatic final period in Valencia

Last weekend turned out to be the absolute worst case scenario for Mallorca. The team even led 2-0 at the bats of Valencia CF in the 90th minute, but at that point Mallorca was only playing with ten players due to a yellow-red card for Kang-In Lee. The substituted Antonio Sanchez got a red card on the bench.

With one man less, Mallorca actually conceded two more goals in minutes 93 and 99 (!). A supposedly safe, surprising, away win squandered and, on top of that, two regular players lost. The task against one of the top teams on Wednesday will therefore be a difficult one. Despite the passable home record, a prediction on Mallorca against Sevilla is therefore not recommended.

Predicted line-up of Mallorca:
Reina – Olivan, Russo, Valjent, Maffeo – de Galarreta, Baba – Dani Rodriguez, Battaglia, Mboula – Angel Rodriguez

Last matches played in Mallorca:

LaLiga
10/23 2021 – Valencia 2 – 2 Mallorca

10/16 2021 – San Sebastian 1 – 0 Mallorca

10/02 2021 – Mallorca 1 – 0 Levante

09/26 2021 – Mallorca 2 – 3 Osasuna Pamplona

09/22 2021 – Real Madrid 6 – 1 Mallorca

Sevilla – Statistics & current form

Until the closing stages of last season, Julen Lopetegui’s side were allowed to dream of a sensational championship. Only seven points from the last five games ultimately ensured fourth final place and a nine-point gap to champions Atletico Madrid. However, the Andalusians have once again impressively shown what is possible with a strong collective in football.

Spectacular at home, minimalist away

Sevilla FC will be a force to be reckoned with this season, and with Real Madrid and Barcelona having lost quality compared to recent years, the Andalusians can indeed be expected to pull off a major coup. After the first quarter of the championship, this thesis is underlined by the strong performances and results.

However, there are striking differences between the home and away games. In the home games, an average of 4.25 goals per game has been scored so far, but in the games away from the home Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, there has been an average of only one goal per game.

Rotation almost without loss of quality

The collective was touted a few lines above as Sevilla FC’s great strength. This strength can be seen quite simply in the example of the last game. Against the previously winless UD Levante, Sevilla FC celebrated a 5:3 home victory.

Conceding three goals against a relegation candidate was certainly not a masterstroke, but Lopetegui made a big rotation. Goalkeeper Bono, Gonzalo Montiel, Joan Jordan, Ivan Rakitic, Lucas Ocampos, Erik Lamela and Youssef En-Nesyri, for example, were all on the bench. Nevertheless, the “B-offensive” was able to score five goals.

While Mallorca is running on fumes due to the two suspensions, Sevilla can count on a rested best line-up despite the double burden of the Champions League on Wednesday. Mallorca vs. Sevilla is definitely a good value bet for the visitors.

Predicted Sevilla line-up:
Bono – Navas, Kounde, Carlos, Montiel- Rakitic, Jordan, Delaney – Lamela, En-Nesyri, Ocampos

Last matches played by Sevilla:

LaLiga
10/24 2021 – Sevilla 5 – 3 Levante

Champions League Grp. G
10/20 2021 – Lille 0 – 0 Sevilla

LaLiga
10/17 2021 – Celta Vigo 0 – 1 Sevilla

10/03 2021 – Granada 1 – 0 Sevilla

Champions League Grp. G
09/29 2021 – Vfl Wolfsburg 1 – 1 Sevilla

Mallorca – Sevilla Direct comparison / H2H-Balance

After a break of over six years, the two teams faced each other again for the first time in 2019/20. The Andalusians were 1-0 ahead at half-time and eventually celebrated a 2-0 victory. This means that Sevilla FC have won a total of 21 of the previous 50 duels in the Spanish football top flight against RCD Mallorca.

Mallorca – Sevilla Tip

After the bitter final minutes in Valencia, Mallorca have an extremely difficult game waiting for them on Wednesday night. Due to the two red suspensions, this task will probably almost become a mission impossible. The Andalusian guests are extremely consistent and, in contrast to the home side, can draw on a full complement of players. There is therefore no great doubt about betting on the visitors in Mallorca against Sevilla.

Due to Sevilla FC’s previous away games, a high-scoring match is not necessarily to be expected. However, with 15 goals conceded, Mallorca have the second weakest defence in the league and for this reason the prediction of a handicap win in the clash between Mallorca and Sevilla seems quite lucrative.

Especially as Sevilla have won their last two league games against the Mallorcans with 2-0 in each case.
