Do Napoli take the lead in the group?

The surprise team from Warsaw is still at the top of the Group C table. However, because Legia lost their last group match against SSC Napoli, their lead has now shrunk to two points. If the Polish top club also loses the home match against the Italian group rivals, Legia may even slip down to third place.

Given the current form of the “Legionisci”, this scenario cannot be ruled out. After all, Legia have lost a total of five of their last six matches. Most recently, the reigning Polish champions even lost their home match against Pogon Szczecin. It would therefore be more than surprising if the turnaround were to be initiated against SSC Napoli, of all teams.

The best bookmakers see the Italian guests as favourites anyway. Meanwhile, odds of only 1.40 are offered for an away win in Legia Warsaw vs Napoli. Meanwhile, because the Partenopei from Campania are in great shape, we think betting on an away win on the 1X2 market is a no-brainer.

Napoli are unbeaten in six consecutive competitive matches. In that period, head coach Luciano Spalletti’s side have won five and drawn one. It is possible that the current Serie A leaders will be looking for their next win in Warsaw.

Legia Warsaw – Statistics & current form

Legia is still in free fall. The defending champions from Warsaw have not yet found their feet in the Ekstraklasa. Although more than half of the first half of the season has been completed, the “Legionisci” are still in one of the three relegation places with only nine points. On the other hand, Legia at least caused a sensation on the international stage.

Nevertheless, the board has pulled the ripcord and sacked head coach Czeslaw Michniewicz, who previously coached Poland’s U20s. As his successor, at least as an interim solution, Marek Golebiewski now takes over the team. Under his leadership, the team made a successful debut in the Polish Cup, but no turnaround can be expected in the short term.

Last weekend, Legia Warsaw lost their home match against Pogon Szczecin 0:2 and thus slipped into the bottom of the Ekstraklasa for the first time this season. The reigning Polish champions now face another setback against the in-form visitors from Italy during the week.

Does Legia lose again against Napoli?

Nearly a fortnight ago, Legia already lost to SSC Napoli in the first leg. For long stretches, the “Legionisci” were able to defy the Italian group rival’s offensive, only buckling in the closing stages, Legia squandered an important point in Campania. A similar course of events cannot be ruled out in the upcoming match.

Before the defeat against Napoli, Legia’s defensive bulwark had already held out against teams like Spartak Moscow (1:0) and Leicester (1:0). Nevertheless, in the current form of the Polish representatives, it is more than risky to make a prediction on a point win for the home side in Legia Warsaw vs Napoli.

Apart from the form curve, the “Legionisci” also have some personnel worries to lament. Against Napoli, interim coach Marek Golebiewski will be without five players due to injury, including two central defenders.

Napoli – Statistics & current form

Napoli, meanwhile, continue their sensational start to the Serie A season and sit top of the table with 31 points and an outstanding goal difference of 23:3. In the battle for the Scudetto 2021/22, the Partenopei are now among the narrow circle of title favourites. It is therefore all the more important to underpin their recent form before the international break.

Before the home match against Verona in Serie A, SSC Napoli will play an away match in Warsaw in the Europa League during the week. Both matches are trend-setting. In the European Cup, there is the chance to lead the group, while in Serie A, the Partenopei can extend their lead over at least one of the two pursuers from Milan.

Spalletti will probably do without rotation in the Europa League. SSC Napoli already started the last group game against Legia with the best possible line-up. Due to injuries, only three players will have to rest for the European Cup match. In addition, Mário Rui is still missing from the squad after his sending-off against Spartak.

Will the defensive bulwark hold again?

Although SSC Napoli’s offence should by no means be diminished, their defensive bulwark is undoubtedly their showpiece. Spalletti’s team has gone five matches in a row without conceding a goal. Even against the strong attack of AS Roma, Napoli did not concede a single goal.

It is quite possible that the series will continue against Legia. In the first half of the season, the Polish group rivals’ offensive efforts were limited. Over the course of 90 minutes, not a single shot was fired at Napoli’s goal. Instead, the Partenopei dominated the entire match and ultimately won their third victory in a row against Legia.

Betting fans who want to bet on the Italian visitors in the Legia Warsaw vs. Napoli match can pick up odds of up to 1.40 if they are successful. The last time Napoli visited Warsaw, the Partenopei won 2-0 away – a good omen ahead of the upcoming match?

Legia Warsaw – Napoli Direct comparison / H2H record

So far, the two clubs have met a total of three times on the international stage. SSC Napoli prevailed in the three matches against Legia Warsaw. The Partenopei from Campania scored a total of ten goals and conceded only two. Both goals conceded came in the second leg of the 2015/16 Europa League group stage match, where SSC Napoli recorded a 5-2 home win over Legia.

Legia Warsaw – Napoli Tip

Napoli have a chance to move top of Group C in the Europa League this week with two matchdays to go. To do so, the Italians must win the away match in Warsaw. If the recent form of the Polish group rivals is anything to go by, Napoli should not find it too difficult.

The “Legionisci” are currently in catastrophic shape. Legia have lost five of their last six competitive matches. As expected, there has been a change of coach at the reigning Polish champions. As the defeat last weekend shows, a turnaround at the Polish top club seems rather unrealistic in the short term.

Even in the first leg, SSC Napoli had dominated the match against Legia over 90 minutes. For long stretches, the Partenopei only failed against the defensive bulwark of their Polish group rivals. In Warsaw, we now expect another clear victory for the Italians.

For Legia Warsaw vs. Napoli, our betting odds are on a handicap victory for Napoli with at least a two-goal lead. We are betting six out of ten possible units for this.
