Top match in the Spanish lower house!

Despite the international break, the ball does not rest in all national leagues. This is not the case in La Liga 2, where Las Palmas and Granada meet in the top match on Sunday evening. The home side start the match in second place and the visitors are tied for third.

The home side from Gran Canaria are also still unbeaten – a feat otherwise only matched by table-toppers Alaves and sixth-placed Burgos CF.

For the match at the Estadio de Gran Canaria between Las Palmas and Granada, the forecast includes a home win, including the protection of a draw.

Las Palmas – Statistics & current form

Last season’s fourth-placed team is making another attempt to return to the top flight this season. So far, Unión is on a good path in this endeavour: Las Palmas have not lost yet and have instead recorded three wins and three draws.

Most recently, however, it was only enough for a draw against Santander despite clear dominance. Although their opponents were outnumbered for more than half the match, Deportiva failed to take advantage of the numerous chances they created.

Cardona Rovira acclimatised quickly

In the offensive, however, hopes remain high for Marc Cardona Rovira: The Spaniard joined from Osasuna before the season, but played on loan for the G.A. Eagles in the Dutch Eredivisie last season.

At “Pío Pío”, he has now hit the ground running after rather mediocre performances at his previous employer: The 27-year-old scored in half of his six appearances and with four goals already, Cardona Rovira is in second place in the scoring charts.

Defensive is as strong as an ox

The showpiece of coach García Pimienta’s team, however, is their defence: they have only conceded one goal in six league games – the best record in La Liga 2!

Against this background, the betting odds on less than 2.5 goals in the clash between Las Palmas and Granada are also interesting.

Only in one of the six league games of the 1969 runners-up was this limit exceeded and on average only 1.5 goals were scored per match – fifth lowest in the 22-team La Liga 2.

Moreover, the defence is particularly strong in home matches: they have yet to concede a single goal in their three games on home turf – Burgos alone also boasts this snow-white clean sheet in its three home matches league-wide.

Predicted Las Palmas line-up:
Alvaro Valles – Alex Suarez – Sidnei – Curbelo de la Fe – Cardona – Clemente Mues – Gonzalez – Loiodice – Lemos – Viera – Cardona Rovira

Granada – Statistics & current form

The relegated team from La Liga last recorded a 2-1 home win against Mirandes. Myrto Uzuni scored both goals for the team from the east of Andalusia. With this result, the Albanian once again proved that he is in very good form at the moment.

He has scored in half of his six league games and, in addition to his recent brace against Mirandes, has also scored a hat-trick against Villarreal B. With a total of six goals, the national player of his country leads the scoring charts in La Liga 2!

Now, however, the striker cannot play for the three-time second division champions, as he will be playing with the Albanian national team against Israel and Iceland in the Nations League.

In light of his absence, the attack of the kickers from the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes must be considered significantly weakened.

No more than one goal by Granada

With coach Aitor Karanka’s side now up against the best defence in the division, the prediction of another clean sheet from the home side in the showdown between Las Palmas and Granada is also worth considering.

Predicted line-up of Granada:
Ferreira – Miquel – Rubio – Quini – Sanchez – Bodiger – Meseguer Cavas – Perea – Uzuni – Callejon – Puertas

Last matches played by Granada:

17/09/2022 – Granada 2 – 1 CD Mirandes

04/09/2022 – FC Andorra 1 – 0 Granada

30/08/2022 – Granada 3 – 0 Villarreal B

21/08/2022 – Granada 2 – 0 Racing Santander

Las Palmas – Granada Direct comparison / H2H balance

The last time Las Palmas and Granada faced each other was in August 2019. The friendly match ended with a 2-0 win for GCF.

The visitors also have the edge in this pairing at the level of competitive matches in the recent past, with the “Nazaríes” having not lost in three comparisons (1-2-0). In contrast, the hosts can rely on the home bonus.

Looking back over the past twelve years, Las Palmas have not lost any of their four home games against the 1959 Cup runners-up (2-2-0).

Las Palmas – Granada tip

For the clash between Las Palmas and Granada, the tip aims for a home win (DNB).

Although the two teams are level on points in the top third of the table, the recall of current top scorer Uzuni to the Albanian national team for the Nations League matches currently gives the home side a personnel advantage.

The home strength of the four-time winners of the Segunda Division also speaks in favour of the prediction: two wins and one draw and not a single goal conceded allow this verdict to be made quickly. Moreover, the CF is less strong away from home than in front of their own fans.

The last two matches of the 2021 Europa League quarter-finalists against Andorra and Eibar were not only lost, but also resulted in a clean sheet for the opponents!

Now the task becomes even more difficult for the visitors, as Las Palmas boast the best defence in the league-wide ranking and, as described, are extra defensively strong at home.
