Are the Zebre settling down now?

On Wednesday evening, Juventus Torino finally recorded their first treble in a 3-2 away win at Spezia Calcio in their fifth league game of the 2021/22 season. After trailing 1:2, things looked bleak for the Zebre, who now have to build on this morale-boosting victory. With only five points out of a possible 15 the Italian record champions are only in twelfth place after all.

Now, however, Sampdoria Genoa are a welcome opponent at the Juventus Stadium. The Blucerchiati have lost their last six away games at the Zebre with a total of 2:19 goals. The odds on Juventus against Sampdoria are therefore clearly in favour of the home side.

With the odds on Juventus against Sampdoria, it is certainly tempting to consider betting on the visitors to win a point. However, while the Zebre have broken their duck, the Ligurians suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat to SSC Napoli during the week

So we see far more value in betting that the Vecchia Signora, with new confidence, will now also win clearly for the first time. We therefore bet on a home win for the Bianconeri with at least a two-goal difference (AHC -1.5).

Italy Juventus – Statistics & current form

For the first time since the 2010/11 season, Juventus Turin missed out on the Italian championship again this summer. And it wasn’t even close in the end. In the end, they were a whopping 13 points behind leaders Inter Milan.

Nevertheless, the pre-season ended on a reasonably conciliatory note with the 14th overall victory in the Coppa Italia and last-minute qualification for the Champions League in fourth place in the final table. Andrea Pirlo nevertheless had to pack his bags again after just one year.

The knot finally broke at Spezial Calcio

Now Massimiliano Allegri, the man who already shaped an incredibly successful era at the Bianconeri between 2014 and 2019, is expected to pull the cart out of the proverbial mud.

However, it was under the legendary coach that the Zebre got off to a completely false start.

The Vecchia Signora picked up just two points out of a possible twelve from their first four league games
before finally breaking the deadlock at Spezia Calcio during the week with a lot of bending and breaking and a late goal from Matthijs De Ligt. Juve celebrated their first three points of the new season with a 3-2 win.

Three important games ahead

The Bianconeri don’t have too much time to breathe, though. Against Sampdoria, they are twelfth in the table, ten points behind first place, and are condemned to improve on their performance before a tough game against defending champions Chelsea in the Champions League and the Turin derby against the Granata in the league.

Three groundbreaking games, then, after which, with three wins, everything could quickly be back in perfect order for the Italian record champions. At least in the run-up to the game between Juventus and Sampdoria, the odds are clearly in favour of the Bianconeri.

Predicted Juventus line-up:

Italy Sampdoria – Statistics & current form

Sampdoria Genoa won their first and only Italian championship exactly 30 years ago and have also won the Coppa Italia four times. Currently, the showpiece club from the Ligurian capital has been part of Serie A for ten years in a row without interruption.

This summer, the Blucerchiati finished ninth in the final table under Claudio Ranieri, before a change of coach also took place at “La Samp”. Roberto D’Aversa took over the reins.

A serious setback after a solid start

The Ligurians initially had slight teething problems and only picked up two of a possible nine points from their first three games. Considering that they had to play both Milanese teams and Sassuolo, the result was still acceptable.

On matchday four, “Il Doria” finally celebrated a commanding 3-0 victory at Empoli, which meant that the Blucerchiati could go into the English week with their heads held high. On Thursday, however, “La Samp” suffered its first real setback. The D’Aversa team went down 0:4 at home to Napoli.

Six away defeats at Juve in a row

There’s not much to be said for Juventus vs. Sampdoria now, with the Ligurians picking up a point at the Italian serial and record champions, who have suffered six consecutive away defeats in league play at 2:19 goals

Nevertheless, “Il Doria” can go into the match with some tailwind. On the one hand, Juve have conceded at least one goal in their last 19 league games and have always been vulnerable. On the other hand, the Blucerchiati have not conceded a goal in any of their last three away games in the league.

Predicted line-up of Sampdoria:
Audero – Augello – Colley – Yoshida – Bereszynski – Damsgaard – Silva – Thorsby – Candreva – Quagliarella – Caputo

Last matches played by Sampdoria:

Juventus – Sampdoria Direct comparison / H2H record

Head to head: 71 – 37 – 27

There have been a total of 135 meetings between the two teams so far and in 71 wins, 52.6% of all duels have gone to the Bianconeri, who have most recently won four in a row on 9-1 goals against the Blucerchiati.

Italy Juventus – Sampdoria Italy Tip

For Juventus against Sampdoria, the prediction must take into account the fact that Juve have won three times in a row and always with at least two goals difference against the Ligurians. In addition, the Zebre finally broke their duck during the week, while the Blucerchiati suffered a bitter setback in the 0:4 against Napoli after a previously solid start to the season

So we see a lot of value in betting that the Bianconeri can now follow up and secure their second win in league play. There is also a lot to be said for a more confident performance after the narrow defeat in La Spezia, which is why we are betting on a home win with a two-goal difference.

For this we use the Asian handicap of -1.5, for which Juventus vs Sampdoria betting odds of 2.05 are available for the corresponding prediction
