Will Bielefeld’s draw kings score in Berlin?

Hertha BSC and Arminia Bielefeld have a loyal following and those who can’t be at the stadium will do everything they can to at least watch the head-to-head clash on TV on Saturday. From a neutral point of view, this match does not sound particularly attractive. It is possible that the ratings on pay TV will be rather limited.

This is an extremely important match for one of the clubs in the Bundesliga’s relegation battle. Both teams will have to make sure they at least don’t lose. However, in order to make up ground in the bottom of the table, three points should be aimed for. The Berliners are the favourites in this match.

In the table, the old lady is in 14th place. They are just two points clear of the relegation zone. Tayfun Korkut, as the new coach, is expected to lead the capital into the moderate zone. However, we would not necessarily predict a home win in the match between Hertha and Bielefeld.

Arminia have exactly ten points after 14 games in pre-season, five points less than the Berliners. As we know, the East Westphalians kept their place in the league last year and that’s why no one around the Alm is getting restless yet, especially as we could imagine placing a bet on a point win for the visitors in the Hertha vs. Bielefeld clash.

Hertha – Statistics & current form

Hertha BSC are moving away from being the Big City club they were aiming for and more and more towards a millionaire’s grave. From abroad, one wonders what Hertha has done with all the money from the investor group. In sporting terms, the capital city team is treading water and now Tayfun Korkut is at the helm, a coach who does not have the best references in German football.

Winless in five games

Whether the new coach can turn things around remains to be seen. In any case, things are not going well at all at the moment. The Berliners have gone five games without a win in the Bundesliga. In the meantime, they have to bake smaller bread again on the Spree and we are not inclined to play the odds on a home win in the match between Hertha and Bielefeld.

At least there was a sign of life for the Berliners last week when they visited VfB Stuttgart and were already trailing 0:2 after 20 minutes. But anyone who thought the old lady would now collapse was proved wrong. Stevan Jovetic scored two goals and at least gave his new coach an acceptable debut with the 2:2.

On Saturday, Tayfun Korkut will now be able to rely on Suat Serdar again, who was absent last week with a cold. However, there are still some players who will not be able to play against Bielefeld. Lucas Tousart is in quarantine. In addition, Marton Dardai, Lukas Klünter, Maximilian Mittelstädt and keeper Rune Jarstein are still missing.

Predicted line-up of Hertha:
Schwolow – Pekarik, Boyata, Torunarigha, Plattenhardt – Ascacibar, Serdar, Richter, Maolida – Belfodil, Jovetic – Coach: Korkut

Bielefeld – Statistics & current form

Perhaps it is not every year that Arminia manage to pull off such a tour de force as they did last season. The start of the season has once again gone to pot this year. The advantage of the current season is that Greuther Fürth is almost certain to be relegated. Currently, the East Westphalians would accompany the Franconians in League Two.

First a Bundesliga win

Not only do they have just one win to their name, but Arminia’s seven draws are the most in the league in that regard. Thus, Frank Kramer’s team continues to tread water. Wins are needed to leave the relegation zone, but in the match between Hertha and Bielefeld, the bettors’ forecast is more likely to go to a home win.

Arminia also showed morale last week. At home, they were behind early against 1. FC Köln, which is always a problem with the weakest offence in the league. However, the East Westphalians managed to equalise through Bryan Lasme. In the end, a win would not have been undeserved, but the Bielefeld team only managed more than one goal this season in the 2:2 against Wolfsburg.

With his goal, Bryan Lasme could perhaps give new impetus to the East Westphalians’ flagging attack in Berlin. However, it seems unlikely that Frank Kramer will do without Fabian Klos in the starting eleven. Lennart Czyborra (appendectomy) and Sebastian Vasiliadis (quarantine) should be the only two players not available.

Predicted line-up of Bielefeld:
Ortega Moreno – Brunner, Pieper, Nilsson, Laursen – Prietl, Kunze – Wimmer, Schöpf, Okugawa – Klos – Coach: Kramer

Last matches played by Bielefeld:

1st Bundesliga
12/04 2021 – Arminia Bielefeld 1 – 1 1. FC Köln

11/27 2021 – Bayern Munich 1 – 0 Arminia Bielefeld

11/20 2021 – Arminia Bielefeld 2 – 2 Vfl Wolfsburg

11/06 2021 – VfB Stuttgart 0 – 1 Arminia Bielefeld

10/30 2021 – Arminia Bielefeld 1 – 2 Mainz 05

Hertha – Bielefeld Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

35 times the teams from Berlin and Bielefeld have faced each other so far. The direct comparison is slightly in favour of Hertha, who are 11:8 ahead after victories. 15 duels ended in a draw. The East Westphalians have not played more draws against any other club in the Bundesliga. Twelve point-splits alone are on the books in the top flight.

Hertha are unbeaten in 13 home games against Arminia. In these 13 games, the Berliners have only conceded five goals. Last season, however, Arminia was the only team, apart from 1. FC Köln, against which the old lady remained without points or goals. The East Westphalians won 1-0 at the Alm, followed by a goalless draw at the Olympiastadion.

Hertha – Bielefeld Tip

The encounter at the Olympiastadion is anything but a cracker in the Oberhaus. Arminia travel with ten points from 14 games, in which they have scored just ten meagre goals. After all, the Bielefelders are not easy to beat, as the seven draws so far make clear. But that also means that Frank Kramer’s team has won only one of 14 Bundesliga games.

Therefore, betting on an away win in the Hertha vs. Bielefeld clash should actually be unnecessary, especially since the Bielefelders have not won at the Olympiastadion for 13 games. However, Arminia have not shared the points more often against any other team in the Bundesliga.

A home win is also unlikely, as Berlin have not won in their last five Bundesliga games. It is likely that there will not be a particularly large number of goals. Bets on sub-par goals are therefore quite legitimate. However, we have decided to play the betting odds on a draw between Hertha and Bielefeld.
