Does Getafe remain without a home defeat?

The ball is rolling again on the international stage next week and accordingly, the top teams are in action early this weekend. The twelfth matchday in the Spanish LaLiga will therefore conclude on Monday evening with a clash between two teams that do not necessarily generate much attention. In the clash between Getafe and Cadiz, the bookmakers clearly favor a home win

In terms of the table, two teams are facing each other at a similar level. Getafe have collected twelve points from their first eleven games, while the visitors have ten points so far and could therefore overtake the hosts with a win at the Getafe Coliseum. However, head coach Sergio’s team is a welcome guest away from home. Cadiz have had to travel home without scoring in four of their five away games this season and are therefore rightly regarded as clear underdogs. Our prediction for Getafe vs. Cadiz is also based on the home side

Because of the home side’s philosophy, a game with few offensive actions is to be expected, which is reflected in our top tips. The neutral soccer fan is unlikely to end up in Spain on Monday, but will be looking to England for the derby between Tottenham and Chelsea.

Getafe – Statistics & current form

There are connections that simply fit together perfectly. The one between Getafe and coach Pepe Bordalas can be described as such. He worked at the club from Madrid’s suburbs from 2016 to 2021 and was able to achieve an outstanding fifth place with the crass underdogs in the 2018/19 season, for example. In 2021, the bats lured him from Valencia, but he was not really happy there and after almost a year without a job, he took over again at Getafe in April of this year and led the club to stay in the league

Goals are a rarity

A headline that is a little misleading in view of the performance during the week in the Spanish Copa del Rey. The LaLiga club celebrated a shooting festival against amateur club CF Tardienta, winning 12-0. Bordalas was thus able to improve his record and has scored 30 goals after 19 games in his second term of office, compared to just 18 goals in 18 games before the cup appearance.

The few goals are the logical consequence of Getafe’s approach. Bordalas is a defensive specialist and his teams traditionally concede very few goals, as the word “risk” does not seem to exist in his vocabulary. A Getafe game is recommended for tactical training, as the players are extremely disciplined and move according to the textbook.

The clear role of favorites on Monday evening is also due to the previous results at the home stadium in 2023/24. Getafe have not suffered a home defeat so far, winning two of their five games and drawing three. However, only eight goals were scored in these five games (goal difference 5:3). Five of them alone in the 3:2 home win against Osasuna, otherwise there were hardly any goals to be seen. We therefore recommend the prediction of “Under 2.0” goals for Getafe vs. Cadiz with the cashback for exactly two goals.

Getafe lineup prediction:

Cadiz – Statistics & current form

The Andalusian visitors are playing in the top flight of Spanish soccer for the fourth year in a row and, like every year, staying in the league is a great success. Cadiz have one of the lowest budgets in LaLiga and also have a squad that impresses with experience and a strong collective rather than individual quality. Players such as Alvaro Negredo, captain Jose Mari, Sergi Guardiola and Roger Marti have long since passed the zenith of their careers. However, the veterans’ experience is worth its weight in gold for the small club from the city of 120,000 inhabitants

Even fewer goals than Getafe

Like Pepe Bordalas, Cadiz coach Sergio plays a very defensive and destructive style of soccer. The team is aware of its own qualities and long periods of possession are definitely not one of the yellow and blue team’s strengths. Accordingly, the team takes a wait-and-see approach and only occasionally provides pinpricks in forward play. During the week, Cadiz celebrated a 4-2 victory in the Copa del Rey and have now scored 71 goals in 71 competitive games under Sergio.

The team from the bottom of the table has been particularly dangerous away from home. Cadiz have played five away games so far and have suffered no fewer than four defeats, the only exception being a draw against Betis Sevilla. The abundance of goals conceded compared to home games is striking. Cadiz have conceded five goals in six games at home and eleven goals in just five games away from home. Cadiz have only scored three away goals themselves and are unlikely to score at Getafe’s Colisseum on Monday evening.

The clear underdog role is understandable given these statistics and is further underlined by the fact that Cadiz have been without a league win since September 1 (seven games without a win). In our top tips between Getafe and Cadiz, we therefore recommend the odds for the home side.

Predicted Cadiz line-up:

Getafe – Cadiz Direct comparison / H2H balance

A direct comparison could hardly be more balanced. The two teams have met 22 times so far (eight in LaLiga, 12 in LaLiga2 and two in the Copa del Rey), with both teams winning eight and six games ending in a draw. It is also striking that home advantage is of great importance for these two teams, with seven of their eight wins coming at home. In the last three LaLiga games between Getafe and Cadiz, however, the bet on the points split was crowned with success

Getafe – Cadiz betting tip

Monday evening in Spain is likely to be a lean evening of soccer, with two teams facing each other who are not known for having many offensive actions in a game. Accordingly, the odds for the under 2.5 in Getafe vs. Cadiz are also low. An under 1.5 is certainly also an option in this match-up, but we see a better odds-risk ratio in the bet on the under 2.0 with a cashback of exactly two goals.

Getafe have become a draw king in recent weeks, as Bordalas’ side have shared the points no fewer than five times in a row. Despite this run, our main betting tip between Getafe and Cadiz is to predict a “home win to nil”. Cadiz can be described as very weak away from home (no wins, only three goals), while Getafe have yet to lose at home. Due to the strong defense of the home side, a win without conceding a goal is quite likely, four units are recommended as a bet
