The Giallorossi coach on Tg1: “The team and the players, with their attitude and behavior, believe in it every game. We’re only at the beginning of the journey. When you have a beautiful dream, that’s already something good”
He believes it, even if he says it quietly. Roma’s first-place standing after eleven matchdays fuels the Scudetto dream even in the mind of Gian Piero Gasperini, the mastermind behind the Giallorossi’s explosive start. “The Scudetto? Everyone is free to dream—it’s perfectly fine to do so. Let’s hope we wake up to good news, but in the meantime, let’s enjoy this moment,” the coach said in an interview with TG1. He says this with the smile of someone satisfied with how the team has embraced his ideas—and perhaps with the hope that January will bring some reinforcements from the transfer market (“As always, it applies to all teams to some extent; we’ll decide when the time comes”).
The important thing, however, is that not only the fans but also the team believes in it. “That’s for sure—the team and the players, with their attitude and behavior, believe in it every game,” added Gasperini. “We’re only at the beginning of the journey. When you have a beautiful dream, that’s already something good.” Meanwhile, Gasp has won over a fan base that certainly didn’t love him back in his Atalanta days. “Over time, we win each other over; above all, we get to know one another and appreciate each other more and more,” added Gasperini. “It’s not something you can achieve just like that—by kissing the jersey or going under the stands. I think we’re doing it. Roman food? Well, I have to be a little careful with that. One thing I really enjoy is when, in the morning, on my way to Trigoria, I drive through the city center and see the Colosseum.” Finally, a comment on the new stadium in Pietralata. “It would certainly be a great gift to the fans from the club and the owners: I’ve seen the plans, and they’re wonderful. This is a club that’s eager to invest and eager to build the new stadium.”
