Does the record champion also shoot down the bottom team?
Playing against FC Bayern in the Bundesliga is never easy. But playing against FC Bayern in their current form in the Bundesliga is even harder. The Munich side are in outstanding form at the moment, having recently celebrated seven consecutive competitive match wins and scoring a whopping 37 (!) goals in that period across all competitions.
With this in mind, one can feel a little sorry for the record champions’ next opponent, especially considering that it is Spielvereinigung Greuther Fürth. The promoted team is currently at the bottom of the table, is still waiting for its first three points and has the weakest defence of the season so far. It is therefore not surprising that the odds on a home win ahead of the Fürth vs. Bayern clash are 25.00 at the top and imply a probability of just 4%.
Because, conversely, between Fürth and Bayern the prediction on the quasi already certain away three is correspondingly low, it takes some creativity to identify suitable tips in this one-sided Friday evening match in the Bundesliga on matchday 6. It might be a good idea to bet on Robert Lewandowski as the goalscorer, after all the Polish attacker, who was presented with the Golden Shoe during the week, beckons another record!
Germany Fürth – Statistics & current form
The promoted team is thus the hottest contender for direct relegation to the 2. Bundesliga. Admittedly, this assessment comes as little surprise, as the Green-Whites have largely failed to prove their first division credentials in the first five matchdays.
With the exception of a flattering 1-1 draw at home against Arminia Bielefeld, they have suffered only defeats. Three of the four defeats came with at least a two-goal difference; two even with a three- and four-goal difference. No team has conceded more goals to date than Sascha Burchert in the box for Mittelfranken. The 31-year-old has already had to make 13 saves, an average of almost three per game
Offensive lull & continuing home drought
Offensive things are not going well at all for the cloverleaf either. Only three goals scored is also one of the weakest figures in the league. If you also consider that two of their three goals came from penalties, it becomes clear how difficult it is for Stefan Leitl’s team to set the offensive tone. In view of these miserable statistics, it is a good option to bet between Fürth and Bayern that the home side will go without a goal for the third time in their last four Bundesliga matches.
Even less likely than a goal, meanwhile, is a surprise coup in the form of a home win, as Spielvereinigung have in fact never won at home in 19 Bundesliga home games now – 2012/13 saw Fürth enjoy a year-long adventure in the top flight already – Never
No other club took so long to win a game in the Beletage of German football in front of a home crowd for the first time. That this worrying series can be stopped against the record champions, of all teams, can actually be relegated to the realm of fables even before kick-off. At least there are only a few absentees. Only Jung and Ngankam are not available due to injury.
Predicted line-up of Fürth:
Burchert – M. Bauer, Viergever, Hoogma – Meyerhöfer, Willems – Seguin, Griesbeck – Dudziak – Nielsen, Hrgota

Germany Bayern – Statistics & current form
Under Jupp Heynckes and Hansi Flick, Bayern have been extremely strong. At the moment, however, there is much to suggest that Julian Nagelsmann can once again lift the record champions to a new level. A football team at this level can hardly be much more dominant than the Munich team of late.
12:0 against Bremer SV in the DFB Pokal, 5:0 against Hertha, 4:1 against RB Leipzig, 3:0 against FC Barcelona and finally a 7:0 in the previous week against VfL Bochum In the last five competitive games alone, the star ensemble from Säbener Straße has a sensational goal difference of 31:1.
Defensive and offensive knows how to convince
But apart from the already strong offence, the defence also impressed with enormous stability. Four clean sheets in the review of the aforementioned five matches definitely provide good reasons to take a closer look at the odds on another “to nil” victory for the leaders in Friday night’s match between Fürth and Bayern. This is supported by the fact that the FCB has kept its clean sheet in three of the four direct duels against the Spielvereinigung so far.
In addition, the subscription champions of the last nine seasons have not shown any weakness against Bundesliga newcomers in the past. 44 of the last 48 games against promoted teams have been victorious (three draws, one defeat). On average, the 2020 Champions League winners have scored more than three goals per match. The bookmakers are expecting another thumping win for the league leaders as the sixth matchday kicks off, although it should not be forgotten that the next match in the top flight is already on the agenda on Tuesday
Lewy on record hunt
In view of this, it is possible that the Munich team, in the case of a reassuring lead, will shift down a gear or two and manage the result. In Friday night’s match Fürth vs Bayern, the prediction of a maximum of four goals is therefore well worth considering.
One player, however, will not stop pushing himself to the limit; at least not until he has scored. We are talking about Robert Lewandowski, who could score a goal in his 16th Bundesliga game in a row. That would set the Uraltrekord of the recently deceased Gerd Müller Incidentally, Coman, Musiala, Tolisso and substitute keeper Ulreich will be absent on Friday
Predicted Bayern line-up:
Neuer – Pavard, Upamecano, Süle, Davies – Kimmich, Goretzka – Gnabry, T. Müller, L. Sané – Lewandowski

Fürth – Bayern Direct comparison / H2H balance
If we exclude the less meaningful encounters from the former Oberliga and Regionalliga Süd respectively, only four encounters remain in the database. In the only first league season of the Central Franconians, the two defeats against the record champions were even limited with 0:3 at home and 0:2 in Munich. In the DFB Pokal, there was a 6:2 victory in the quarter-finals in 2009/10 and in 1998/1999 a narrow victory for Bayern after a penalty shoot-out.
Germany Fürth – Bayern Germany Tip
The bottom of the Bundesliga welcomes the leaders on Friday evening to kick off the sixth matchday. A clear relegation candidate meets the championship favourite par excellence. There cannot be a much clearer starting position in an official league match than between Fürth and Bayern. The betting odds for the record champion’s success are just a measly 1.13 at the top.
That the Nagelsmann eleven celebrates its eighth match victory in a row is not up for debate for us. Instead, we stumbled across one or two interesting statistics in our search for a suitable bet. For example, the league leaders have not conceded a goal in four of their last five games, while the cloverleaf have only managed to score three goals in five matchdays (two of them from penalties).
Following this, we were surprised that betting on a win for the favourites without conceding a goal between Fürth and Bayern is rewarded so well.
Alternatively, it is conceivable to bet on a maximum of four goals being scored in the course of the match, which can be justified primarily by the fact that in the event of a clear lead, the tempo may be reduced somewhat in order to be able to perform at the highest level again next Tuesday in the Champions League
