Do the Toffees take an important step towards staying in the league?

Everton took a vital 1-0 home win over Manchester United on the final day of the season to move clear of the bottom of the table. However, the Toffees are only three points clear of a relegation place. It would therefore be important for them to improve on this in the catch-up game against the Foxes. The last time the Toffees won two league games in a row was in September 2021.

Leicester City, however, are a team that has already lost eight of their 15 away league games. Away from home, the Foxes have picked up just four points from a possible 24. Accordingly, there could well be something in it for the Toffees, which is why the odds are swinging towards the home side ahead of the clash between Everton and Leicester.

Not only have the Foxes scored consistently in eight of their last nine Premier League games, though. They have also always scored at Goodison Park in 14 of their 15 Premier League away games. Accordingly, a lot of value can be found in Everton vs Leicester betting on both teams to score.

Everton – Statistics & current form

Everton Football Club is one of six founding members of the Premier League that has never been relegated before. The nine-time English champions have also failed to win a championship since the Premier League was founded. Nevertheless, Everton occupy seventh place in the perpetual Premier League table.

Now, however, the Blues are threatened with relegation to the Championship for the first time. After 30 of 28 completed match days, the club from Liverpool is finally in 17th place in the current table with only 28 points.

Lost ten of their last 13 league games

Although Frank Lampard’s eleven are still above the line. However, with only three points ahead of Burnley, this lead is on very shaky ground. The recent 1-0 home victory over Manchester United was all the more reassuring, and it is now a matter of confirming this.

In fact, however, the Toffees have lost ten of their last 13 league games and are anything but in good form going into the home game against the Foxes. At least seven of their eight league victories have come at home to Goodison Park.

Only 33 goals from 30 league games

Two factors are problematic, however. Firstly, there is a lack of penetrating power going forward, as evidenced by the fact that only 33 goals have been scored in 30 league games – the fifth weakest figure in the Premier League. And secondly: 18 of the last 21 Premier League games in which at least one goal was conceded were lost.

Considering that in only one of 15 Premier League home games against the Foxes have they managed to avoid conceding a goal, it is therefore surprising that the Toffees go into this home game favoured.

Leicester – Statistics & current form

Leicester City have been relegated from the Premier League three times, but have enjoyed an incredible run of form since their last relegation in the summer of 2014. In 2016, the Foxes surprisingly won the championship. In 2021, they won the FA Cup for the first time.

At the moment, things are not going quite as well for the team from the English East Midlands at national level. In the Premier League table, they are only in ninth place with 40 points from 30 games. Nevertheless, the Foxes still have a chance of winning the title.

The Conference League semi-final casts its shadow ahead

In the UEFA Conference League, Leicester City stormed into the semi-finals after wins over Randers, Rennes and Eindhoven to face AS Roma next week on Thursday. If the Foxes secure overall victory in the inaugural edition of the competition, Brendan Rodgers’ side would still have a back-door route to Europa League qualification.

The question of how much Leicester will want to leave in this away game at Goodison Park is a complicated one, especially as there is another league game just three days later in which the East Midlands club would have a good opportunity to put an exclamation mark on the Giallorossi at their own stadium.

Eight of 15 Premier League away games lost

Also in view of the fact that the Foxes have been anything but strong, especially away from home – they have already lost eight of their 15 Premier League away games – stress control could well play a role. After all, there is still the aforementioned home game against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Accordingly, it would be risky to bet on an away win for Rodgers’ team at Everton against Leicester, who have only won two of their 15 Premier League away games at the Toffees (eight draws, five defeats).

Everton – Leicester Direct comparison / H2H record

Head to head: 44 – 33 – 38

There have been a total of 115 meetings between the two teams so far and Everton lead the head-to-head comparison with 44 wins. The Toffees have also recently gone unbeaten against the Foxes three times in a row (two wins, one draw)

Everton – Leicester Tip

For Everton against Leicester, the forecast has to take several factors into account. On the one hand, the Foxes picked up twelve more points than the Blues in league action and are clearly in better form than the Lampard eleven, who have lost ten of their last 13 league games. On the other hand, the Toffees’ home record is quite solid, while Leicester City, on the other hand, have already lost eight of their 15 away games and recently picked up only four points away from home out of a possible 24.

In addition, the Foxes also have the important Conference League semi-final at least already in the back of their minds and have to keep an eye on the load control with two more English weeks in a row. Accordingly, we see the greatest value in avoiding the three-way system and betting on goals on both sides.
