Dinamo Tbilisi make the most of home advantage in the second leg?

Dinamo Tbilisi have already set the stage for the second round of CL qualifying with last week’s draw. The Georgian champions earned a well-deserved draw against FC Astana and can now book their ticket to the next round in front of their home crowd.

The best bookmakers see the Georgian representatives as favourites and are currently only offering odds of 2.40 on the hosts for a Dinamo Tbilisi vs Astana bet. For the Georgians, it would be their first home win on the international stage since 2019.

Dinamo Tbilisi made a positive impression in the first leg and came close to a surprise. If Dinamo can build on that, the Georgian record holders can be confident of a win in the second leg and a ticket to the second round.

Our Dinamo Tbilisi vs. Astana prediction is for a win for the Georgian record champions, who would then enter the second round of Champions League qualification for the first time since 2016.

Dinamo Tbilisi – Statistics & current form

Dinamo Tbilisi have shown an act of defiance after missing out on the 2021 championship and have impressed again as league leaders, at least in 2022. The Blue and Whites claimed the championship in a hard-fought season, just three points ahead of the runners-up. It was the 19th championship for the Georgian record holders.

The season so far for last year’s champions has been all the more disappointing. Dinamo Tbilisi are in fourth place in the Georgian top flight after 20 match days and are already a clear eight points behind leaders Dinamo Batumi. However, before league play resumes, the focus is on CL qualification for the time being.

The Blue and Whites have never qualified for the main round of the premier league. So far, the best result was the third qualifying round in the Champions League, which Dinamo Tbilisi last reached in 2013. Dinamo failed then in the third round of the CL qualifiers to Steaua Bucharest and thus missed the jump into the playoffs.

Are the Georgians honing their recent home record?

Although the Blue and Whites already set the course for the second round of CL qualification in the first leg, it is nevertheless risky to place a bet on the hosts from Georgia in the second leg between Dinamo Tbilisi vs Astana. Dinamo have only won two of their last eight home games.

If you still want to bet on the host from Georgia, you can also use a free bet at the bookmakers. In case of success of the Georgian record champion, the criterion of the minimum odds will be fulfilled.

Head coach Giorgi Chiabrishvili will be able to draw on a wide range of resources and will be spared any major personnel worries. Only two Georgians will miss the second leg against FC Astana due to injury. Dinamo have no other absentees.

Predicted Dinamo Tbilisi line-up:
Loria; Mali, Margvelashvili, Tabidze, Kobouri; Kharaishvili, Osei; Sigua, Oulad Omar, Camara; Skhirtladze

Astana – Statistics & Current form

FC Astana squandered home advantage against Dinamo Tbilisi and now fear for their ticket to the next qualifying round. The ‘Astanalyqtar’ now need a minor miracle to reach the next round away from home, as FC Astana have not won an international match on foreign soil since 2019.

In fact, the yellow-blues have lost seven of their last eight away matches on the international stage. It is quite possible that this negative series will continue against the Georgians. The lack of quality in the offensive play speaks against a prognosis in favour of the Kazakh representatives.

The Kazakh record champions already stumbled in the first leg against Dinamo Tbilisi and only scored a goal with a lucky punch in the first half. After the break, however, FC Astana remained largely harmless and failed to get a single shot on target. It would therefore be all the more surprising if they were to achieve a coup on foreign soil in the second leg.

Will Astana go winless away from home again?

Since a 1-0 win over Aksu in May 2023, FC Astana have won just one of their last four away games across the competition. In three of these four matches, the “Astanalyqtar” have scored at least once. Therefore, at least one goal against Dinamo Tbilisi is likely.

The Kazakh guests – as in the first leg, mind you – have no absentees to complain about. It is obvious that head coach Grigoriy Babayan will use the same starting eleven that was used last week. Aymbetov, this season’s top scorer, is set to play at the top of the 3-4-3 system.

Astana’s likely line-up:

Condric; Haroyan, Beysebekov, Amanovic; Hovhannisyan, Jovancic, Ebong, Vorogovskiy; Tomasov, Aymbetov, Ourega

Dinamo Tbilisi – Astana Direct comparison / H2H balance

Last week Dinamo Tbilisi and FC Astana met for the first time ever. The premiere clash between the two clubs saw Dinamo Tbilisi draw 1-1 after FC Astana had taken a 1-0 half-time lead.

Dinamo Tbilisi – Astana Tip

Dinamo Tbilisi have already set the stage for the second round of CL qualifying with a draw away from home. The Georgians only have to manage the result in front of their home crowd. In the event of another draw, extra time beckons, while in the event of success, direct entry into the next round.

Considering how weak the Kazakh guests have been away from home, it is obvious that the Georgian record champions will punch their ticket to the next round. FC Astana have lost seven of their last eight away matches on the international stage this season.

We place our Dinamo Tbilisi vs. Astana betting odds of 2.40 on the hosts, but only select a moderate stake of three units.
