Will Chelsea continue their upward trend?

After getting off to the worst possible start to 2023 for Chelsea London’s star ensemble, Graham Potter’s eleven have managed to gain some breathing space in recent weeks.

The team has won two matches in a row at home in the Premier League and qualified for the quarter-finals of the European Champions League. For the upcoming home game, the Blues are once again in the clear favourite role for a Chelsea vs Everton tip on the three-way market.

The visitors from Liverpool have also been able to stabilise under their new head coach Sean Dyche. However, the points were also collected under Dyche mainly in the home games, away the Toffees present themselves still weak. A point win at Stamford Bridge next weekend does not seem too realistic either. In any case, they have not been able to win at the home ground of the Blues since 1994.

The Potter team won at Goodison Park in the first half of the season and Chelsea have won two of their last three home games against Everton. A prediction of another home win should also come true in the upcoming encounter.

While Chelsea seem to have recovered after a weak start to the second half of the season and have regained their place in the European league, Everton continue to be toothless away from home. The Blues no longer have any points to give away this season anyway.

Chelsea – Statistics & current form

After a poor first half, the London club’s ownership group led by Todd Boehly put their money where their mouth was to save the season. It was foreseeable that Graham Potter would need time to mould a whole series of new, highly talented players into a functioning unit. But after things went worse than expected at the beginning of the second half of the season, doubts began to surround him. The low point was certainly the embarrassing home defeat against bottom team Southampton.

Potter and Chelsea – a success story after all?

The impression of the last few weeks was at least that Potter can turn the tide after all. In the Champions League, they punched their ticket to the quarter-finals and in the league, too, Chelsea won twice in a row. Against the relegation candidates from Liverpool, another three points should now follow. The Chelsea vs Everton odds offered by the best bookmakers indicate that the chances are good.

This Saturday, the Toffees will travel to Stamford Bridge, a team that has been extremely weak away from home this season and can also be categorised as favourite opponents in home games. For 27 league home games now, the Potter eleven is unbeaten against Everton (15-12-0). Individually, the Blues are superior to the Toffees anyway and the famous knot seems to have finally burst with the Potter eleven. The Chelsea vs Everton prediction is therefore a home win. However, you should not expect many goals or a landslide victory.

Chelsea have only scored more than three goals in one league home game this season, and in only two away games for the Toffees. For the Toffees, however, those were the last two away games. At Arsenal Everton went down 4-0 and at Nottingham Forest Dyche’s side fought back to draw 2-2, but as Chelsea do not have the attacking punch of their city rivals this season and also play a different, more pragmatic style, we do not expect Chelsea to prevail by three or more goals difference on Saturday. A goal from the Toffes is also not necessarily expected.

Everton – Statistics & current form

Under new manager Sean Dyche, the smaller of the two Premier League clubs from Liverpool can once again have legitimate hopes of staying in the league. Ten points from seven games have already been collected under Dyche, almost half of the total of only 25 points this season. However, only one of those ten points came from away games. Understandably, therefore, high Chelsea vs Everton odds can also be found for a point win for the visitors.

Only one away win so far

Away games have not exactly been the Toffees’ parade discipline this season. Since the beginning of last season, they have even been the team with the worst points average in away games among all current teams in the Premier League. So far this season, they have only managed one win away from home (1-5-7).

Especially the Toffees’ offence is more than harmless in away games. Only Nottingham and West Ham United have scored eight goals away from home this season. Dyche is expected to give his side an extremely defensive approach against the big favourites Chelsea this weekend.

Everton will park the bus in front of the goal and the Blues will have to find solutions to break down this defensive bar. The fact that Chelsea find it difficult to score against deep-lying teams has become clear more than once this season. The Chelsea vs. Everton tip is still a home win against harmless Toffees, but we don’t expect an overwhelming victory.

Since Dyche’s offensively weak team is not expected to score a goal either, betting on less than four goals in the course of the game is a sensible addition to the win bet.

Chelsea – Everton Direct Comparison / H2H Record

The two teams have faced each other a total of 189 times. The overall record is led by the Blues with 75 victories. The Toffees have so far celebrated 58 victories in this duel, while a further 56 encounters have not found a winner. The goal difference is also in favour of Chelsea London with 294:261 goals.

In the Premier League, Graham Potter’s side have won exactly half of their 84 home games against Everton. The Blues have also won two of the last three meetings at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea – Everton Tip

On average, Chelsea score just one goal per home game in the Premier League. Therefore, it is not surprising that only in one home game of the Blues more than three goals were scored. The visitors’ attack is even more harmless in away games, scoring only eight goals in 13 matches on foreign turf.

Although we expect Chelsea to convert the difference in quality into goals on Saturday, we do not expect a goal festival. That’s why we combine the Chelsea vs. Everton tip on the home win with the Under 3.5. This would also continue the trend in this duel, as in the last five meetings between Chelsea and Everton only seven goals were scored.

Everton scoring themselves on Saturday doesn’t necessarily seem realistic either, given the offensive lull in the Toffees’ away games. Chelsea are also defensively solid at home to Stamford Bridge and have gone around half of their Premier League home games without conceding a goal.
