No winner at Stamford Bridge?

Chelsea can be relaxed about their clash with Aston Villa from a statistical point of view: Nine of the last eleven duels with the Villans in the Premier League have ended in success for the Londoners (9-1-1)!

In addition, the home side have been doing better in the league recently. Seven points from the last three games show the upward trend. However, the visitors have countered this with three recent wins and a draw. In the match, therefore, two clubs in stable form meet, who are also neighbours in the table with an identical points tally!

The ingredients for an exciting clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night are plentiful. For the match between Chelsea and Aston Villa, the tip is also aiming for a draw!

Chelsea – Statistics & current form

The “Blues” have recently been able to rely on Kai Havertz in the offensive. The German international scored a goal in each of his last three competitive games for Chelsea in the Premier and Champions League! However, the output must be put into perspective as only one of those goals came from play and not from the penalty spot.

Coach Graham Potter is also sitting a little more firmly in his manager’s chair after the recent two wins against Leeds and Leicester and the draw against Everton in league action. After all, Chelsea recorded as many trebles in this flashback as they had previously in 15 rounds of matches (2-6-7)!

In addition, the home side defeated Dortmund in the top flight, which is why there is a noticeable upswing at CFC. This is also sorely needed from the hosts’ point of view: the current tenth place is of course not a position with which Chelsea can be satisfied.

Stamford Bridge is not a fortress

The Londoners cannot rely on a home bonus, however: Only six of the 13 completed league home games ended with a win for the hosts (6-4-3). Once again, this record represents nothing more than grey mediocrity in the Premier League home rankings.

At least, however, the capital’s offence has reawakened. In the past three games, they have scored six goals, as many as in the previous twelve rounds of matches. The home side will also be hoping for the return of Raheem Sterling, who has been forced to miss the last two league matches.

Mount with brace in first leg

Open midfielder Mason Mount is also set to make a comeback and the opposition particularly suits him, as he scored both of his club’s goals in a 2-0 away win in the first leg. However, Chelsea are now up against a currently very strong defence and even with the return of the aforementioned players, they would still need more match practice to get back close to their maximum performance.

In view of this, the prediction and odds on a maximum goal for the hosts in the clash between Chelsea and Aston Villa are also recommended.

Aston Villa – Statistics & current form

The Birmingham side are unbeaten in four rounds and have picked up ten points in those games. Moreover, the three victories were each accompanied by a clean sheet for the visitors.

Furthermore, the upcoming opponent is a good omen. The last time Aston Villa went five games without defeat in the Premier League was in December 2020, and the last of those games was at Stamford Bridge (1-1)!

Villa are now strong away from home

The Villans are also benefiting away from the coaching change last November. Since the first away game under Unai Emery, in which Aston Villa won 2-1 at Brighton, only the top two clubs Manchester City (16) and Arsenal (15) have collected more points away from home than the visitors (13). Four wins, one defeat and one draw are the Spanish coach’s best record in this review of away games.

A verdict that can also be passed on the recent performances of Ollie Watkins. The striker has scored in his last four away appearances for the visitors! With that tally, he equalled the previous record set by Dwight Yorke in March-April 1998. Given his scoring form at the moment, betting and odds on his next goal celebration in the match between Chelsea and Aston Villa are also worth considering.

Chelsea – Aston Villa Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

In the first leg, as mentioned, Chelsea recorded a 2-0 away win at Villa Park. Furthermore, the visitors have won just one of their last 17 Premier League outings at Stamford Bridge (1-4-12) and have lost six of their last seven away games since a win at the pair in December 2011.

Chelsea – Aston Villa Tip

For the clash between Chelsea and Aston Villa, the tip and odds offer a draw. Since Unai Emery took over at the helm of the visitors, the Villans have improved away from home and are currently in good form.

Three wins and a draw after a defeat against Arsenal, top of the table, clearly show this. In addition, the home side have also stabilised, but the personnel situation remains somewhat tense.

Some regulars are likely to return and since the last matchday, N’Golo Kante, a hugely important defensive player, is already back on board, but their previous injuries mean they will still need time and competitive practice to get back to their old level of performance.

A disadvantage for the hosts on top is that they had to send more players to their respective national teams during the recent international break due to their noble squad. This results in a physical advantage for the guests, who will be able to play fresher overall.
