Next win for the Gunners?

Last week saw Arsenal pick up their first points of the season. The Gunners won 1-0 at home against their table neighbours Norwich and have thus – for the time being at least – left the relegation places of the Premier League. In order to compensate for the false start, the Londoners are now aiming for a second win in a row this weekend.

Although the Gunners recently celebrated a victory against Norwich City, the Londoners’ latest success should not be overrated. After all, there was only a narrow home win (1-0) against the promoted team, in which Arsenal again did not leave a good impression.

At the moment, Arsenal need to work on their attacking game. Considering how weak the Gunners’ attacking department has been in the first four days of the Premier League, it is natural to predict a low-scoring Burnley vs. Arsenal encounter as well.

Burnley – Statistics & current form

Last year, Burnley FC were mere beneficiaries of poor seasons from relegated sides like Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United. Although the “Clarets” picked up only 39 points in 38 matchdays, there was no danger of relegation at any point of the 2020/21 season. In the final table, Burnley were even separated by eleven points from their neighbours from West London.

This year, the “Clarets” are among the narrow circle of potential relegation candidates. Four matchdays after the start of the season, Burnley are already in one of the three relegation places. So far, the team of long-time manager Sean Dyche has only picked up one point. While the defeat against Liverpool can still be absorbed, lapses against Everton and Brighton were by no means to be glossed over.

In both games, the 18th-placed team squandered an interim lead. The most recent defeat against the “Toffees” was particularly serious. Three goals were conceded within six minutes of each other in the second half, leading to a 3-1 defeat at Everton FC’s Goodison Park.

Can Burnley keep Arsenal’s attack in check?

Against their upcoming opponents, who statistically have the worst offence in the league, they now face a doable task. Last season Burnley FC scored in the first and second legs against the stumbling Gunners. At Turf Moor, the Clarets will now look to extend their current run against the Londoners.

Burnley have not won at home against Arsenal in the Premier League since December 1973 Since then, there has been a record of 0-5-4 against Arsenal in the English top flight, including the two draws in the last two seasons. If the next draw against the Gunners beckons, attractive odds will be paid on Burnley vs Arsenal for a tip on the draw.

Sean Dyche will only have to do without Stephens, Roberts and Long this weekend due to injury. In return, the recovered Nathan Collins is back in the squad line-up.

Predicted Burnley line-up:
Pope – Lowton, Mee, Tarkowski, Cornet – Gudmundsson, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil – Wood, Barnes.

Arsenal – Statistics & current form

Arsenal managed a small liberation blow last week. With the home victory over Norwich City, who now occupy the last place in the Premier League, the Gunners fought their way out of the bottom of the table. However, in a worst-case scenario, Arsenal could slip back into the red zone as early as this weekend.

The lead over the relegation places is currently only two points. Although Mikel Arteta’s side dominated the home game against the Norwich Canaries at will, last week’s performance was nothing to write home about. It was only after an attacking strike by Aubameyang that the knot burst in the offensive.

Before that, the Gunners failed several times due to the opponent’s defence. In total, Arsenal fired 30 shots last week – the same number of shot attempts in the previous three matchdays, where Arsenal conceded three defeats.

Wrong investment in the summer?

In total, Arsenal spent more than €160 million in the summer transfer market. This made the Gunners the team with the highest transfer spending in Europe this season The weak start to the season is therefore all the more surprising. Especially the supposed defensive bulwark, where Ben White was the most expensive summer addition, has hardly been convincing so far.

Prior to the home win against Norwich, Arsenal were beaten to the wall by Manchester City and conceded a total of five goals. Before that, they conceded two goals each at home to Chelsea and away to Brentford. Only Leeds, Norwich and Newcastle have conceded more goals than the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta can draw on a wide range of options for the away game at Turf Moor. At the moment, only Elneny and Holding are on the sick list, and Xhaka is still suspended. If the Londoners still manage to win for the second time in a row, odds of 2.07 are paid out for tip 2 on Burnley vs. Arsenal.

Predicted Arsenal line-up:
Ramsdale – Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney – Partey, Lokonga – Saka, Odegaard, Smith Rowe – Aubameyang.

Burnley – Arsenal Direct Comparison / H2H Record

Competitively, this will be the 112th meeting between the two clubs. Arsenal lead the direct comparison with a record of 54-23-34. Most recently, however, the Gunners have failed to win three in a row against the Clarets. Last season, Arsenal lost 1-0 at home to Burnley and the second leg ended in a 1-1 draw despite the Londoners taking the lead at one stage.

Before the latest negative series, Arsenal had won ten in a row against Burnley FC in the Premier League. The Gunners have not lost at Burnley’s Turf Moor for nine consecutive away games in the Premier League.

Burnley – Arsenal Tip

Neither team has made a good start to the season so far. While Burnley are still waiting for their first win in the English top flight, Arsenal are already aiming for their second win in a row. Most recently, the Gunners were able to overcome the challenge of Norwich City, but this has not yet compensated for the false start.

Considering how much Arsenal spent in the summer transfer market, the minimum goal for the Gunners is an international starting place. In contrast, the primary goal of Saturday’s opponents is to stay in the league. The “Clarets” are, after all, among the narrow circle of potential relegation candidates.

Although Arsenal have had a poor start to the season so far and also stumbled in their recent home win against Norwich City, the bookmakers’ assessment of the Burnley vs. Arsenal match is understandable. Our bet also aims for an away win at good odds, but we only choose a moderate stake of four units.

The Gunners have by far the stronger squad and have the potential to turn things around this week. Burnley – apart from the last three games – have been Arsenal’s favourite opponents in the past anyway.
