Which teams will lead the turnaround?

Normally, the period from mid-September to early October is firmly scheduled in the diaries of many international folk festival goers. Similar to last year, however, they will have to do without the Oktoberfest in its usual way in Munich in 2021. The footballers of the record champion will also not be present at the world’s largest folk festival, as usual, and can therefore concentrate purely on the sporting side of things.

That this focus on the match at Spielvereinigung Greuther Fürth will inevitably go hand in hand with the next triumph for the Nagelsmann eleven seems to be a foregone conclusion. The situation is different, however, for most of the other matches on the sixth matchday in Germany’s top football league.

Especially the two top matches between Leverkusen and Mainz and Gladbach and Dortmund promise a lot of excitement and top-class sport. The duel between the ambitious “big city clubs” RB Leipzig and Hertha BSC also has its own charm in view of the central city’s less than satisfactory start so far. We also ask ourselves whether Eintracht Frankfurt or Arminia Bielefeld will remain without a treble at the sixth attempt?

Germany Fürth vs. Bayern Germany – 24 September, 20:30

You can almost feel sorry for any team that has to play FC Bayern at the current time. Regardless of whether their opponents are FC Barcelona, RB Leipzig, Bremer SV or VfL Bochum – the Munich team has been in outstanding form for several weeks and has made short work of its opponents. They have won their last five competitive matches with a goal difference of 31:1 (!!).

It is virtually impossible that the cloverleaf, of all teams, can change this impressive statistic, as the Spielvereinigung is still waiting for its first victory. In the current season, there has been one draw and four defeats and they have already conceded 13 goals. No team in the top flight has conceded more. By the way, the most promising candidate for the 2021/22 championship has already scored 20 goals.

After the 7:0 victory of the record champions against VfL Bochum last Saturday, the next big win is in sight. However, since it is anything but easy to make a prediction on the level of success at the start of the Bundesliga on matchday 6, we are going to go with the Bayern remaining without conceding a goal for the fifth time in retrospect in the past six competitive matches For this, a very attractive 2.10 can be gambled on via the Bet365 App.

Germany Union Berlin vs. Bielefeld Germany – 25 September, 15:30

Only five matchdays have been played in the Bundesliga and yet respect must already be paid to Arminia from Bielefeld. Although four points and only three goals scored are not really a sensational result, the East Westphalians, who were considered to be one of the hottest contenders for relegation in the run-up to this season, have only suffered one defeat.

The aim is to continue this series on Saturday afternoon at the “Alte Försterei”, even though this undertaking is likely to be difficult in many respects. On the one hand, the Eisernen are now unbeaten in eight direct duels against DSC. On the other hand, the Conference League participants have not lost any of their past 19 home games in the Bundesliga. Furthermore, the Bielefeld side has never celebrated a full success in Köpenick.

The starting position is therefore clear. Union are rightly favoured, but have recently been without a win in three consecutive competitive matches. The great self-confidence has therefore been lost somewhat, which is why we consider the betting odds on Under 2.5 goals in this Bundesliga matchday 6 to be extremely attractive. In five matches involving Arminia, only eight goals have been scored so far; in four out of five cases, betting on sub-par goals would have paid off. This will also be the case next weekend?

Germany Leverkusen vs. Mainz Germany – 25 September, 15:30 hrs

The top match in the standings on matchday six takes place at the BayArena. Leverkusen, who are currently in fourth place, welcome their neighbours Mainz 05 (5th). Both teams currently have ten points and can be absolutely satisfied with their start to the season.

In purely statistical terms, the Werkself has the edge in the direct encounter. The former runners-up have not lost to the zero-fives in seven meetings. Even better: During this period, there have been six victories and one draw. Thus, the Rheinhessen team has not won a match against any other first division team than against the Rhinelanders.

Although FSV have lost only one of their last ten Bundesliga games and have become a European Cup contender under Bo Svensson, the home side are naturally favourites, brimming with confidence and having scored 15 goals in five games We expect a relatively open match on Saturday afternoon and can therefore well imagine that in the top match in the Bundesliga on matchday 6, the tip on both sides scoring will be crowned with success.

Germany Frankfurt vs. Cologne Germany – 25 September, 15:30

Oliver Glasner is certainly not envious of his post as Frankfurt coach at the moment. Eintracht have played seven competitive games so far this season with the Austrian on the sidelines and have not won any of them. In total, there have been five draws and two defeats. No wonder, then, that Glasner’s name has come up more and more frequently in recent times when people have been asking about the first coaching dismissal in the Bundesliga.

On Saturday afternoon, the Hessians will have the next opportunity to finally free themselves. Logically, however, the task will not be easy at home against Cologne, who are currently on a real high. Spurred on by their own fans, the Rhinelanders earned a point at home against RB Leipzig the previous week and have thus already taken their tally to eight points. Not since 2016/17 has the “Effzeh” started so well Back then, by the way, fifth place in the final standings jumped out after 34 match days…

Peaceful division of points in Frankfurt?

It’s hard for us to name a favourite for the upcoming clash, which, by the way, is already taking place for the 101st time in the Bundesliga. On the one hand, the SGE has not lost for 21 home games. On the other hand, the momentum tends to point in the direction of the Geißböcke. For this reason, we consider betting tips on a draw in one of the most interesting matches in the Bundesliga on Matchday 6 to be an absolutely justifiable recommendation.

Germany RB Leipzig vs. Hertha Germany – 25 September, 15:30

About a fortnight ago, the words relegation battle and Hertha were still mentioned in the same breath. In the meantime, the Berliners have been able to free themselves somewhat from the awkward situation. Thanks to two victories in Bochum and at home against Fürth, the capital club climbed up to ninth place in the standings, leaving the upcoming opponents behind.

The fact that it is the reigning runners-up RB Leipzig, of all teams, shows how disappointing the season has been for the Saxons so far. Never before have the central cities started a Bundesliga season as weakly as they did in 2021/22, with only a meagre four points after five matchdays. Only the home match against VfB Stuttgart has been victorious so far.

The fact that a commanding home win for Leipzig against the “old lady” on Saturday in the Bundesliga on matchday 6 offers very attractive odds can be explained by the fact that the “red bulls” have not lost to Hertha in seven Bundesliga encounters. Six victories in this period underline the claim that the “Big City Club” is one of Leipzig’s absolute favourite opponents. We are therefore convinced that the March eleven will swim free and win with at least a two-goal difference.

Germany Hoffenheim vs. Wolfsburg Germany – 25 September, 15:30

Typical football traditionalists could make use of Sky’s new feature on Saturday afternoon and single-handedly ban the clash between the clubs from Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim, who like to be dubbed “plastic clubs”, from their own conference. For the many football lovers, however, this is not an option, because at least it will be interesting to see how the Lower Saxons fight back after losing their first point of the season (1:1 against Frankfurt) at the weekend.

If we believe the pure statistics, then there is much to suggest that VfL will immediately get back on the road to success. Coach Mark van Bommel’s team is currently the best defensive team in the Bundesliga with only two goals conceded, has won both of its away games so far this season and has only lost one of its six most recent direct encounters against the Kraichgau side.

TSG, however, will know how to fight back with all their might, after all, Hoeneß’ eleven wants to stop the trend and bag a three-goal win themselves after four winless games recently. Judging by last weekend’s performance in Bielefeld, however, certain doubts are permissible. For the second time in a row, Andrej Kramaric and his colleagues failed to score.

This, in turn, leads us to believe that defence will be the top priority in this match. We even assume a goalless first half, arguing that both teams have scored fewer goals in the first 45 minutes so far, but also conceded fewer than after the break. Between Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga on Matchday 6, betting odds on a 0-0 first-half draw are definitely worth considering.

Germany Gladbach vs Dortmund Germany – 25 September, 18:30

Erling Haaland is and remains a phenomenon. The Norwegian wonder striker scored twice again last weekend against Union Berlin and thus scored at least a brace on three of the first five matchdays. Only Peter Meyer, Horst Köppel (in the 60s/70s) and, of course, Robert Lewandowski (2019/20 and 2020/21) managed the same. Haaland is undoubtedly the most massive pro-argument for Dortmund’s championship hopes.

Nevertheless, Erling Haaland’s scoring prowess should not obscure the fact that the defence still has a lot of room for improvement. 11 goals conceded are a clear indication that Marco Rose absolutely has to stabilise the defence if they want to have a serious say in the championship. A clear improvement is already needed against the other Borussia on Saturday evening.

Missing Gregor Kobel again a clean sheet?

Although the Foals have been guilty of a lot so far and, with four points from five games, are certainly one of the negative surprises in the course of the season, the team from the Lower Rhine naturally has the potential to deliver a good home game against the third-placed team. Only the disastrous record speaks a different language, as eleven of the past twelve direct Bundesliga encounters between these teams went to BVB, who of all teams lost the most recent encounter in the pre-season with 2:4.

Given the existing top match character of this encounter in the Bundesliga on matchday 6, a prediction on the isolated match outcome is not our first choice. Instead, we try to combine two betting markets and opt for a tip on the Black-Yellows leaving the pitch as winners, but again not without conceding a goal. For the Dortmund away win in combination with the addition that both teams score, a lucrative 2.65 beckons at the top.

Germany Bochum vs. VfB Stuttgart Germany – 26 September, 15:30

We look at the relegation battle in the Bundesliga in the first Sunday match in the Bundesliga on Matchday 6. The odds on VfL Bochum being relegated have probably fallen sharply since last week. However, this is not due to the calculated defeat at FC Bayern Munich, but much more to the serious injury to key player Simon Zoller, who threatens to be out until the end of the season.

The Stuttgart team can also sing a song about absences due to injuries, which is why the two teams will meet on an equal footing this weekend – at least in this respect. Another parallel that connects the clubs is the defensive vulnerability on the first five matchdays Stuttgart have already conceded twelve goals, while VfL have conceded 13. At first glance, there are many signs that a goal or two will be scored.

This is supported by the fact that the Swabians have not kept their clean sheet in any of the last twelve Bundesliga games. Since the start of last season, only Schalker, who have since been relegated, have conceded more goals than VfB. We therefore refrain from making another prediction on the result and instead settle on the spectators at the Ruhrstadion seeing three or more goals.

Germany Freiburg vs. Augsburg Germany – 26 September, 17:30

There was a sigh of relief for FC Augsburg last weekend. In the home match against Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Fuggerstädter celebrated a happy 1-0 victory, which was primarily due to their own defensive behaviour. On the offensive side, however, the Weinzierl team is still struggling. No other team has scored as few goals as FCA (two). Nevertheless, the current eleventh-placed team is still unbeaten away from home. Both away games this season have ended in goalless draws.

Speaking of goalless draws: Freiburg also drew without a goal in the previous week, but remained unbeaten in their fifth league game. At home, however, it must be the Streich team’s ambition to claim a victory and thus underline their international ambitions, which must by no means be expressed in Breisgau.

Certainly, no footballing treat awaits us in the direct duel late on Sunday afternoon, but we can well imagine that betting on the Sportclub from Freiburg is a good option in the last match of the Bundesliga on matchday 6. The Black Forest side have won seven of their nine Bundesliga home games against FCA. In addition, Augsburg have waited a season-long eight away games in the top flight for a full success. Good conditions, then, for Christian Streich and his functioning collective.
