How will Bayern react?

In football, sometimes totally crazy things happen. The 0:5 defeat of record champions Bayern in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday night is definitely one of them. Without any chance, the Munich team, fielding the best possible line-up, went down to Borussia Mönchengladbach and thus failed in the second round of the German Club Cup for the second time in a row.

It will now be interesting to see how Lewandowski, Müller, Kimmich and Co. react to this disgrace from the Lower Rhine on Saturday. Will Union Berlin get all the frustration of Bayern’s injured soul at the Alte Försterei, or will the top-ranked team even have the next setback to digest at the in-form capital club?

In addition to the eagerly awaited reaction of the FCB, there are also one or two other highlights on matchday ten. Among other things, BVB welcomes the still euphoric 1. FC Köln. Florian Kohfeldt will make his debut on the Wolfsburg bench in Leverkusen and in the south of the republic the knives will be sharpened between the Bavarian Swabians from Augsburg and the real Swabians from Stuttgart. The match between Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig also promises to be a lot of attractive football.

Hoffenheim vs. Hertha – 29 October, 20:30

After two Bundesliga wins in a row recently, as well as a lacklustre progress in the DFB Pokal at Preußen Münster, Hertha from Berlin are desperate to confirm their upward trend on Friday night. For the first time since October 2019, the “old lady” could win three games in a row in the top flight. The task will be difficult, however, as the capital club has won only one of the past eleven direct encounters between these teams (7-3-1).

Pal Dardai’s record against the upcoming opponents does not read particularly promising either. In six away games in the Kraichgau, Hertha have only managed one win under his management. To make matters worse for the visitors, TSG have won five of their last seven home games this season and have won three in a row at home in all competitions. The 5:1 win against Kiel during the week also clearly did 1899 good.

Because we don’t necessarily expect both teams to play forward regardless at the end of an English week and instead expect a calmer opening phase in which neither team wants to fall behind, we combine the betting tips “Under 3.5” and “1X” to kick off the Bundesliga on matchday 10 and receive attractive top odds of 1.87 for a match in which a maximum of three goals are scored and the Hoenß eleven does not lose at home.

Dortmund vs. Cologne – 30 October, 15:30

During the week, both teams struggled to reach the last 16 of the DFB Pokal. While this was to be expected for Cologne in their away match against VfB Stuttgart, the Black and Yellows fell short of their own expectations for a long time in their home match against second-division bottom side Ingolstadt. In the end, however, it was still enough for a commanding success, which, however, showed once again that BVB is far from spreading fear without Erling Haaland.

Nevertheless, it can be assumed that one or the other goal will be scored on Saturday afternoon in the direct duel of the courageously playing opponents. Especially after the break it could go bang. After all, the two teams that scored by far the most goals in the second half will meet. Borussia scored 24, the “Effzeh” 22.

It is therefore absolutely advisable to check the betting odds in what is probably the most atmospheric match in the Bundesliga on Matchday 10 that the spectators will see at least two goals in the second half. Extremely attractive odds are also on offer for the “both score in the second half”.

Leverkusen vs. Wolfsburg – 30 October, 15:30

Florian Kohfeldt is back in the Bundesliga! Last week, events rolled over a bit at VfL Wolfsburg. After four defeats in a row and very poor performances, Mark van Bommel had to leave his post in the Autostadt. At first it was said that Michael Frontzeck would take over as interim coach, but only one day later an agreement was reached with the aforementioned Florian Kohfeldt. The ex-Bremer now has to do mainly work as a psychologist.

A new broom sweeps clean – also in Wolfsburg?

Perhaps it is therefore quite convenient that VfL are being treated as underdogs in the BayArena. From a purely statistical point of view, however, this assessment by the bookmakers with a German licence is questionable anyway, as the Wolves have won the last three away games in the city of medicine. Bayer have not won at home against Wolfsburg for five home games.

In addition, it should not be forgotten that the Seoane eleven has already conceded nine goals at home this season. This is the most ever after four home games to start a Bundesliga season. We expect the Green-Whites to show a completely different side to their recent form and to have a chance of taking home something worthwhile. In fact, bets on the double chance X/2 probably hold the most lucrative value for Kohfeldt’s comeback in the Bundesliga on matchday 10.

Union Berlin vs. Bayern – 30 October, 15:30

All football fans will be looking forward to Köpenick at the Alte Försterei on Saturday afternoon. There, the explosive duel between Union Berlin and FC Bayern will take place. On the one hand, it is explosive because the record champions were unable to win either the first or second leg against the Eisern last year. On the other hand, of course, because Wednesday’s cup match is still having an extremely lasting effect.

The question now is: What kind of reaction will the current leaders show after the embarrassing 5-0 defeat in Gladbach? We are convinced that there will be a clear reaction in the form of a commanding victory. After ten points from the last four Bundesliga games, the capital city side are by no means cannon fodder in fifth place, but the Nagelsmann eleven, who will presumably have to continue without their head coach, will be furious and put in a completely different performance than they did at Borussia Park.

Ends Union’s remarkable home series against furious Bayern?

This also detaches us from all statistics such as the fact that the first German participant in the history of the UEFA Conference League has not lost in the Bundesliga for 21 (!) home games and Bayern have “only” managed to mark six goals against the Eisernen in their four games in the top flight so far. None of this is likely to play a role on Saturday.

We therefore opt for betting tips in favour of Bayern in what is perhaps the most interesting match in the Bundesliga on matchday 10. Especially the double HT2/FT2 is a good bet, as Union have been behind more often than ahead at the break this season and the FCB have led at half-time in six of their seven wins in the Bundesliga this season.

Freiburg vs. Fürth – 30 October, 15:30

Freiburg vs Fürth is the duel of stark contrasts. On the one hand, the only unbeaten Bundesliga team meets a still winless one. On the other hand, it is a clash between the best and the worst defence in the league. Because this also leads to a one-sided constellation in the table and the third team receives the last, there are actually hardly any arguments that point in the direction of the cloverleaf, which has also been waiting for a victory against the Sport-Club for twelve matches.

Nevertheless, there is a small glimmer of hope from the point of view of coach Stefan Leitl’s team, which is even further up the list of those to come. After all, the Green-Whites had more preparation and regeneration time. While the Breisgau side had to go into extra time during the week, the Franconians were able to train in a targeted manner, as they had to pull out of the DFB Cup in the first round.

It might even be a good idea to bet that the Spielvereinigung will keep the away game in the new Europa-Park-Stadion open for a relatively long time. The double chance X/2 at half-time would be an interesting option, especially as Fürth have only been behind after 45 minutes once in the past five matchdays. In the first-half table, the Leitl eleven would even be in the relegation place. Will the underdogs also be able to stand up to the self-confident Freiburgers on Saturday?

Bielefeld vs. Mainz – 30 October, 15:30

On Tuesday evening, the two teams faced each other in the second round of the DFB Cup. With the better end for the Mainz side, who narrowly prevailed after extra time. On Saturday afternoon, the East Westphalians now have the opportunity to take revenge. From a purely tabular point of view, such a revenge would also be extremely important, as Arminia, in second last place, is still waiting for its first win of the current season.

At least the fact that DSC have lost only one of eight Bundesliga matches against the Nullfünfer and are still without a defeat at home against their upcoming opponents in the top flight gives hope. Nevertheless, they currently lack the necessary self-confidence, which is particularly related to the lull in forward play.

Only five goals have been scored by coach Frank Kramer’s team so far. Only two of these five goals were scored at home. They have already scored three times in their own stadium this season. It is doubtful whether this will change against Mainz, as FSV has one of the most stable defences in the league, conceding a total of nine goals.

We therefore think it would be more sustainable to play the betting odds on Under 2.5 goals in the cup replay in the Bundesliga on matchday 10. In six of the nine matches involving Arminia, a maximum of two goals were scored. For Mainz, the magic mark was also only broken in four out of nine cases. After Tuesday’s surprisingly high-scoring 2:2 draw, there is a lot to be said for a low-scoring encounter this time around.

Frankfurt vs. RB Leipzig – 30 October, 18:30

The Frankfurt Eintracht just can’t get rolling. Last Thursday, the important and well-deserved home win against Olympiakos Piraeus seemed to be a kind of chest loosener, but a few days later they suffered another defeat in Bochum. As the fourth-last team in the table, the air is getting thinner and thinner for Oliver Glasner. The Austrian doesn’t have many arguments on his side after the worst start in the Bundesliga in the past 16 years.

RB Leipzig two classes weaker away

The mood at RB Leipzig is somewhat better. The form curve is pointing upwards, even though the Marsch eleven is still far from delivering what it can do in terms of football. The best example: the cramp victory last week in the DFB Cup at SV Babelsberg. But the performance also underlines once again that the Saxons continue to have major problems, especially away from home.

The Saxons have yet to win any of their four Bundesliga away games this season. In fact, RB has not won a match in the Bundesliga for the past seven seasons. The reigning runners-up have only scored two goals away from home.

In comparison, Eintracht have lost just one of their last 23 home games. We have seen several times what kind of power the SGE can unleash in front of a home crowd. Therefore, predictions on a good result for the Hessians in Saturday’s Bundesliga matchday 10 seem quite interesting. For the double chance 1X alone, we already get paid double the stake in case of success.

Augsburg vs. VfB Stuttgart – 31 October, 15:30

The most Swabian derby in the Bundesliga takes place on Sunday afternoon at the WWK Arena. FC Augsburg receive VfB Stuttgart and battle the demons in the process. The Fuggerstädter have not won for four Bundesliga games now. In addition, they suffered a bitter cup defeat in Bochum last week. Stuttgart also lost to Cologne in the DFB Cup, but at least want to continue their good run in the league. Four times in a row, VfB did not leave the pitch as losers.

In view of the fact that Augsburg have only scored five goals so far this season and Stuttgart are no longer playing the kind of hurrah football they did in the previous season, there are many indications that the match will be low-scoring. In Stuttgart’s last three away games, a maximum of two goals were scored, just as in FCA’s two most recent home games. Consequently, the Under 2.5 is also our preferred betting option for Sunday afternoon. The derby character adds the rest.

Gladbach vs. Bochum – 31 October, 17:30

Many Gladbach fans who got up on Thursday morning must have pinched themselves and checked the previous night’s result before starting the day. No one would have thought it possible that the so far rather weak Foals would have so badly outplayed the record champions. Several times there was talk of the “perfect game”. In view of the performance shown, it is not really surprising that the odds on Borussia’s victory were once again adjusted downwards before the last match in the Bundesliga on matchday 10.

Despite all the justified euphoria after Wednesday’s gala performance, a completely different opponent awaits the team from the Lower Rhine late on Sunday afternoon. All those who assume that VfL Bochum will also be shot out of the stadium could be deceived, because VfL is also in good form at the moment. The Reis team recently celebrated two Bundesliga victories in a row and also reached the next round in the cup after a penalty shoot-out.

Also interesting to mention: Gladbach have not won any of the past 15 direct duels in the top flight. Therefore, it is even conceivable to place a bet in the direction of the guests from the Ruhr region. Although we don’t necessarily believe in a surprise coup in the form of a win or a draw, we can well imagine the Bochum side keeping the game open and losing by a maximum of one goal in the end. Attractive odds are being offered for the handicap (+2).
