Does the Bees’ drought continue?

One day after Boxing Day, history could repeat itself in the Premier League. Brentford FC have lost all of their last three league games. The last time the Bees had such a negative run was also a home game against Wolves after three defeats, losing 2-1 in January 2022. Regardless of this side note, we think the betting tip for Brentford to win against Wolverhampton is quite promising

In the end, the London home side will go into the last home game of the calendar year pretty much counted out. The Bees have lost five of their last six Premier League games (one win). They have also lost their home strength. They have lost three of their last six Premier League home games – as many as in their previous 27 home games (13 wins, 11 draws). Our predictions for Brentford v Wolverhampton therefore lean towards the visitors

Betting on an away win for Wolves would yield extremely high odds. The Bet365 app alone shows a top price of 4.20 for bet 2. However, the team from the West Midlands is ultimately simply too weak away from home for it to make sense to bet in the three-way system. Wanderers have won just five of their last 35 Premier League away games (seven draws, 23 defeats).

This is also due to the fact that Wolverhampton are winless in 14 Premier League games in London (three draws, eleven defeats). However, it should also be noted that the Wanderers have recently felt very comfortable at London’s Gtech Community Stadium. Wolves have not lost any of their last four games at Brentford (two wins, two draws), which is why our betting recommendation is ultimately aimed at the double chance X2 at under 3.5 goals

Brentford – Statistics & current form

Brentford Football Club returned to the Premier League in the summer of 2021 under long-serving manager Thomas Frank, in which the club from the west of London was able to re-establish itself straight away. A 13th place finish in their debut season was followed by ninth place in the final table this summer.

In the 2023/24 season, the club once again had a slightly furtive view of the international starting places. However, a recent negative run then saw the Bees slip down the table to 14th place

Brentford have lost three of their last six Premier League home games

Brentford FC have lost five of their last six Premier League games (one win), leaving them on 19 points and “only” seven points clear of the first relegation spot. This means that the spectre of relegation is not yet looming at the mouth of the River Brent. However, it is clear that a turnaround is needed soon.

After all, the Bees have also increasingly lost their great strength of late: their strong home record. However, they have lost three of their last six Premier League home games (three wins). That is the same number of defeats as in the 27 Premier League home games before that (13 wins, eleven draws).

Only one of the nine Premier League home games played to nil

Despite this, the bookmakers’ odds on Brentford v Wolverhampton are now pointing towards the west Londoners, who have scored 24 goals in 17 league games and have a certain attacking power.

On the other hand, the Bees’ defense has been a little too patchy on a number of occasions when conceding 24 goals. This applies in particular to home games. Although the haul of twelve out of a possible 27 points from nine Premier League home games is solid, it must be noted that Thomas Frank’s side have only kept a clean sheet in one of these nine home games.

Predicted Brentford line-up:

Wolverhampton – Statistics & current form

Wolverhampton Wanderers experienced a noticeable upturn in fortunes under Nuno Espírito Santo, who brought the three-time champions back to the Premier League in the summer of 2018, even reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

However, since the Portuguese’s departure, neither Bruno Lage nor Julen Lopetegui have been able to return to the single-digit table positions. Gary O’Neil is now set to try his luck in the new season. The interim conclusion is balanced

Seven points out of a possible 25 from the five league games in December

On the one hand, the team from the West Midlands, in eleventh place in the table with 22 points, has little to do with the relegation battle. On the other hand, however, Wanderers are already eight points off sixth place alone, which, as is well known in England, does not necessarily lead to Europe due to the two national cup competitions, but is nevertheless very likely.

December has been just as mixed as the season to date, with a recent 2:1 home win over Chelsea FC, but a 3:0 defeat at West Ham United before that. Wolves have picked up seven points out of a possible 15 from their five league games so far in December

Only won five of the last 35 Premier League away games

Despite this, the betting odds for Brentford v Wolverhampton are not in favor of the visitors picking up a point. Gary O’Neil’s side have a particularly poor away record, winning just five of their last 35 Premier League away games (seven draws, 23 defeats).

Wanderers have lost ten of their last 13 away games and their last five away wins have only come against teams in the bottom four of the table at the time of the game. And yet: Wolves are currently unbeaten in four away games at the Gtech Community Stadium (two wins, two draws), which is why the West Midlands outfit will be hoping for something from their trip to the capital.

Predicted Wolverhampton line-up:

Brentford – Wolverhampton head-to-head comparison / H2H result

Head to head: 12 – 4 – 15

There have been a total of 31 meetings between the two teams so far and Wolverhampton Wanderers lead the direct comparison with 15 wins. This is particularly due to their recent record, as Brentford FC have won just one of their last eight league games against Wolves (two draws, five defeats) and have been winless in four consecutive home games (two draws, two defeats).

Brentford – Wolverhampton betting tip

The betting odds for Brentford against Wolverhampton are in favor of the home side. However, this is a very bold assessment, as the Bees have lost three of their last six Premier League home games (three wins) and go into this match in very poor form with five defeats from their last six league games. On the other hand, Wolves do not have the best away record. But at least the Gtech Community Stadium has been a good place for the Wanderers, who have not lost any of their last four away games here (two wins, two draws).

There’s a lot of value in predicting Brentford to get a point against Wolverhampton. Since no goal festival is to be expected in the west of London on Wednesday evening, we recommend the double chance X2 at under 3.5 goals.
