Will Kohfeldt lead the Wolves to another victory?

It has long been the case in professional football that new brooms necessarily sweep well. Currently, there are also examples in Germany where this is not the case. However, VfL Wolfsburg has apparently done everything right with the change of coach from Mark van Bommel to Florian Kohfeldt, because the Lower Saxons have apparently caught a really good cloud.

Not only that things are going really well in Wolfsburg ahead of Saturday’s guest game in Bielefeld. Numerous Wolves in their national teams can also hope to be part of next year’s World Cup in Qatar. Things could hardly be better at the moment and the question is: will it continue like this or when will the slump come?

In the table, VfL has climbed back up after the fall under van Bommel and is now in fourth place. That is where the Wolves would like to be at the end of the season, so that they can continue to play in the Champions League next season. This fact alone makes it worthwhile to predict a win for the visitors in the clash between Bielefeld and Wolfsburg.

Arminia are still stuck in the bottom of the table and have just eight points after eleven games. However, because other clubs are also showing weaknesses, the save bank is only two points away. With a home win, the East Westphalians could finish above the line, but in our opinion, betting on a VfL victory between Bielefeld and Wolfsburg should be the better choice.

Bielefeld – Statistics & current form

It’s no secret that Bielefeld will be in the Bundesliga relegation battle until the end of the season. The East Westphalians are also aware of this. But Arminia fights back in every game and in terms of passion, Frank Kramer’s team has nothing to reproach itself for. It’s only the results that aren’t yet right overall.

Longing for a home win

So the Bielefelders have won just one of eleven point games this season and their last win at home was just over seven months ago. The Alm is clearly not a fortress this season and that is why we are looking primarily at the odds for an away win ahead of the match between Bielefeld and Wolfsburg.

Before the internationals, Arminia got their long-awaited first win of the season. This one was hugely important, especially as they got the treble against a direct rival and have now drawn closer to VfB Stuttgart. Masaya Okugawa scored the golden goal for Bielefeld in Swabia.

In terms of personnel, things are looking extremely good for Frank Kramer’s team at the moment. Basically, there are no seriously injured players. Only Patrick Wimmer, who will possibly play with a face mask, is a question mark. There are increasing signs that Alessandro Schöpf will be the only change in the starting eleven for Florian Krüger.

Predicted line-up of Bielefeld:
Ortega Moreno – Brunner, Pieper, Nilsson, Laursen – Prietl, Vasiliadis – Wimmer, Schöpf, Okugawa – Klos – Coach: Kramer

Wolfsburg – Statistics & current form

Florian Kohfeldt has provided a lot of fresh air. Apparently, the W in the Wolfsburg logo suits him better than that of SV Werder. You couldn’t have wished for a better start. Under his direction, the Wolves have won three Bundesliga matches and one match in the Champions League.

Nmecha in top form

In addition, the new coach has managed to get Lukas Nmecha really on track. In the duel between Bielefeld and Wolfsburg, it does not seem too far-fetched to predict another goal from the attacker

Before the international break, VfL hosted FC Augsburg, a team they have to beat at home if they want to reach the top flight. However, the Wolves struggled and only won 1-0 after a goal by Lukas Nmecha. Most recently, the VfL tested against Hansa Rostock without their internationals and lost 1:3.

The personnel situation does not look very rosy for the Wolves at the moment. Bartosz Bialek, Xaver Schlager and William are missing due to injury. Maxence Lacroix is serving a red suspension and will be replaced by Sebastiaan Bornauw or Micky van de Ven. However, both are still injured at the moment. Perhaps Florian Kohfeldt will have to work some magic in his back three.

Predicted line-up of Wolfsburg:
Casteels – Bornauw, Guilavogui, Brooks – Baku, Gerhardt, Arnold, Paulo Otavio – Steffen, L. Nmecha – Weghorst – Coach: Kohfeldt

Bielefeld – Wolfsburg Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

26 Duels have been played between Arminia Bielefeld and VfL Wolfsburg to date. The direct comparison is a clear affair for the Wolves, who have a clear lead after victories with 14:6 and six draws. Arminia have not scored against the Wolves for 14 years and have not scored for almost ten hours.

The last six direct duels all went to the Lower Saxons. The VfL also won both matches against the East Westphalians last season. In the Volkswagen Arena, the Wolves first won 2:1. The return match at the Alm was won 3:0 by Wolfsburg after two goals from Renato Steffen and one from Maximilian Arnold.

Bielefeld – Wolfsburg Tip

The Bielefeld side will have been struggling a bit with the international break, as they managed their first Bundesliga win of the season directly before it. At least the mood around the Alm has been good lately, even if it could quickly change in view of the upcoming opponent, because the Wolves have not been a welcome guest in Bielefeld lately.

The last six direct duels all went to the VfL. The last time the East Westphalians won a point against the Wolves was more than 14 years ago. Arminia have not scored against the Lower Saxons for almost ten hours. It sounds like a good bet between Bielefeld and Wolfsburg would be a win to nil for the visitors.

However, the Wolves have personnel problems in the three-man backline. It is quite possible that unskilled players will be in central defence. Therefore, we do not rule out a goal from the East Westphalians and have decided to play the betting odds on an easy away win between Bielefeld and Wolfsburg.
