Will Bayern Women go ahead in the first leg?

The 2014/15 season was the last time a team from the German Women’s Bundesliga won the Champions League. Since then, German clubs have stayed away from winning the title in the women’s premier league. With the footballers of FC Bayern Munich, there is now a team that has a realistic chance of ending the drought on the international stage.

The Munich women are, after all, represented in the quarter-finals of the current Champions League and face the Gunners from London this week. Against the women of FC Arsenal, the FCB will start as slight favourites and will also benefit from home advantage in the quarter-final first leg. Our FC Bayern vs. Arsenal women’s tip also aims for a home win.

In their current form, the FCB women’s footballers are brimming with confidence. Since losing to FC Barcelona in December 2022, the Bayern women have won each of their last twelve competitive matches.

The Gunners, on the other hand, have lost two of their last five competitive matches. In addition, the Londoners are winless in three away games in a row. It is quite possible that a prediction on the Gunners in Bayern vs. Arsenal Ladies will not pay off either.

Bayern – Statistics & current form

FC Bayern is one of two remaining German teams in the top flight. The Munich-based side finished second in the group stage of the Women’s Champions League and have entered the quarter-finals level on points with FC Barcelona. Now the FCB women’s footballers face the hurdle against Arsenal London.

Because the Munich women have won every competitive match at home this season, the FCB are also favourites for the quarter-final first leg against the Londoners. If the Bayern women also win the match against Arsenal, it will not only be their twelfth home victory in a row. For Bayern vs. Arsenal Women, betting odds of 1.95 are also paid out for tip 1.

Against teams from England, the FCB has a record of 2-0-2 after four competitive matches on the international stage. The FCB women’s footballers have played all four matches against Chelsea, scoring a total of twelve goals. That means an average of three goals per CL duel with an English team.

After a landslide victory in Cologne: FCB women can’t be stopped

The Munich women have already warmed up with a resounding victory in Cologne last weekend. In the dress rehearsal before the quarter-final duel with the Londoners, the FCB won the Bundesliga match in Cologne 5-0. Because VfL Wolfsburg also won, the FCB is still in the chasing pack.

In 15 Bundesliga games so far, the Bayern women have recorded a record of 13-1-1, with a total of 42 goals to their credit. On the other hand, the Munich women have scored four times – the last time in the match against Eintracht. Since then, the team has kept its clean sheet in the German top flight four times in a row.

Head coach Straus is not expected to make any major changes compared to the last starting eleven. Stanway is currently the best offensive player in the FCB ranks with six scorer points (3 goals, 3 assists). It is quite possible that the English player – who is also a European champion – will lead FC Bayern into the semi-finals.

Predicted Bayern line-up:
Grohs; Rall, Viggosdottir, Kumagai, Hansen; Stanway, Zadrazil; Lohmann, Magull, Buhl; Schuller

Last matches played by Bayern:

18/03/2023 – 1. FC Köln 0 – 5 Bayern Munich

11/03/2023 – Bayern Munich 4 – 0 MSV Duisburg

05/03/2023 – Werder Bremen 0 – 2 Bayern Munich

Arsenal Women – Statistics & current form

The Gunners have ended their form crisis just in time for their quarter-final duel with FCB. After four winless matches in a row – the cup match against City was only decided in extra time – there have recently been three wins in a row again for the Londoners.

Last weekend, Arsenal beat Reading 4-0, and before that they had already beaten Liverpool FC 2-0. With the Gunners winning all three of their matches at home, it remains to be seen how head coach Jonas Eidevall’s side will perform away from home.

The Londoners have not won any of their last three matches on foreign soil. It is therefore more than daring to play the odds on the English guests in Bayern vs. Arsenal Women.

15th competitive match against a German club

So far, Arsenal London have met teams from the German Women’s Bundesliga 14 times. Only three of these 14 encounters were won by Arsenal FC women’s footballers. Overall, Arsenal’s record against German clubs is a meagre 3-2-9, so it would be all the more surprising if AFC won the match at FCB.

Arsenal last won the Champions League in 2007, and since then the Gunners have failed to win a title in the top flight. Since 2013, the best result in the Women’s Champions League has been the quarter-finals. This was also the case last season, when the Gunners were eliminated by VfL Wolfsburg with an aggregate result of 1-3 after first and second legs.

Predicted Arsenal Women’s line-up:
Zinsberger; Wienroither, Williamson, Rafaelle, Maritz; Walti, Little, Maanum; Foord, McCabe, Blackstenius

Bayern – Arsenal Women Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

The FCB and Arsenal London women’s footballers meet for the first time ever in a competitive match. The Londoners have already played FC Bayern twice in friendly matches. The Gunners lost both encounters. In February 2017 with 1:3 and in July 2019 with 0:1. And also this time the Bayern vs Arsenal women’s betting odds do not seem appealing to us.

Bayern vs Arsenal Women betting odds

With the Gunners from London, the FC Bayern Munich women’s footballers got a feasible draw in the quarter-finals of the current Champions League 2022/23. The Munich women even benefit from home advantage in the first leg and therefore, as expected, also go into the upcoming encounter as favourites.

At home, the FCB has won every home match this season – both nationally and internationally. They even won against FC Barcelona, one of the favourites for the title in the top division. It is quite possible that the winning streak in front of a home crowd will continue against the Gunners, who are weak away from home.

The visitors from London have not won any of their last three games on foreign soil. On top of that, Arsenal have only won three out of a total of 14 competitive matches against German clubs so far anyway. We therefore select Bayern vs. Arsenal Ladies odds on the Munich side and use five units to do so.
