Nothing to get for the Rojillos?

Although only two of the last five league games were won (two draws, one defeat), FC Barcelona is clearly heading for the championship. The Catalans took 79 points from 32 league games and have an eleven-point lead over Real Madrid with six games left to play. If Barcelona can win at home against Osasuna, the final decision could be made in the near future.

CA Osasuna have not been bad lately, winning three of their last five league games (two losses) and reaching the Copa del Rey final. However, the Rojillos’ away record doesn’t read particularly fearsome, scoring just 12 goals in 16 away games – fourth weakest in La Liga. Accordingly, the forecast for Barcelona against Osasuna is that the team from Pamplona will also remain without a goal at Camp Nou.

In general, betting that the Blaugrana will win another home game in La Liga without conceding a goal makes a lot of sense. Not only have they not lost any of their 16 home league games at Camp Nou (13 wins, three draws), but away goals have been in absolute short supply at this stadium. With just two goals conceded, Barcelona has by far the best home defense in La Liga.

Although the Catalans have lacked the final tension of late, betting on the Blaugrana’s next win to nil makes the most sense in our eyes.

Barcelona – statistics & current form

Despite numerous lows such as Champions League group stage exit, Europa League exit against Manchester United and another Copa del Rey semifinal exit against Real Madrid, it currently looks like Catalonia will at least have a conciliatory end to the season.

After the title-less preseason, it should also work out with the national championship in 2022/23 after the overall victory in the Supercopa de Espana (3:1 against Real Madrid). Six matchdays before the end of the season, the team already has an eleven-point lead over defending champions Real Madrid on the record.

Won nine of the last ten home games against Osasuna

Lately, though, the results have failed to materialize one after another. The Blaugrana have only won two of their last five league games (two draws, one defeat). The bottom line, however, is that the defense, which once again did not concede a goal in four of these five games, was simply too good for anything to go wrong in the championship.

Also because there have been just eleven goals conceded in 32 La Liga games (a league best), the odds on Barcelona vs. Osasuna are heavily in favor of the Catalans, who have also won nine of their last ten home games against the Rojillos (one loss).

Only two goals conceded in 16 home games

The fact that Xavi’s team will most likely secure the national championship in Spain for the first time in four years in just a few weeks is due first and foremost to their incredible home dominance. At Camp Nou, Barcelona remained unbeaten in 16 league games (13 wins, three draws).

With 32 goals, the Catalans also scored an average of two goals per home game, while the defense allowed virtually nothing in front of their own fans. The Blaugrana conceded just two goals in total at home. That equates to a sensational yet surreal average of just 0.13 goals conceded per La Liga home game.

Osasuna – Statistics & current form

Club Atlético Osasuna have never won a major title and last played only second division between 2014 and 2016 and between 2017 and 2019. However, since the Rojillos returned to the top flight of Spanish soccer as La Liga 2 champions under Jagoba Arrasate in the summer of 2019, the flagship club from Pamplona has enjoyed decidedly quiet times.

The team from the autonomous region of Navarra has finished in a secure mid-table position three times in a row before possibly even making an attack on Europe this season. With six league games still to play, the current eighth-placed team is clawing at the top seven.

The Copa del Rey final casts its shadow ahead

While Osasuna still have it completely in their own hands to even reach the Europa League. The Rojillos reached the Copa del Rey final for the second time since 2005, with the final against Real Madrid scheduled for next Saturday.

A win over the Blaugrana would certainly give the Rojillos a lot of self-confidence for this. Ultimately, though, it’s also likely to be a case of not getting completely exhausted and being as rested as possible for what could be the most important match in the club’s history on Saturday.

Only twelve away goals from 16 matches

When it comes to Barcelona vs Osasuna, there is little to suggest that the Pamplona outfit will be able to score at Camp Nou, let alone take anything of note from the Catalans, who have lost nine of their last ten away games.

The Rojillos have taken 19 points from 16 away games in La Liga (eighth best in the league). However, considering that the team from the north of Spain scored only 12 away goals (fourth lowest in La Liga), the defensively strong Blaugrana should be a bit too tough.

Barcelona – Osasuna Direct comparison / H2H balance

Head to head: 54 – 19 – 20

There have been a total of 93 meetings between the two teams so far and with 54 wins, the Blaugrana lead the head-to-head comparison very clearly. Most recently, Barcelona remained unbeaten in five consecutive league games against Osasuna (four wins, one draw) and also won the first leg 2-1 in Pamplona.

Barcelona – Osasuna tip

When it comes to Barcelona vs Osasuna, the betting odds are swinging in the Catalans’ direction in all forms, which is due to their bearish home record. At Camp Nou, the Blaugrana have not only remained entirely without a home defeat (13 wins, three draws), but have conceded just two goals in 16 games. Just on Saturday, the league leaders dispatched Real Betis 4-0 at home, seamlessly following up their 1-0 home win over Atletico Madrid.

Although the Rojillos have sold themselves quite dearly so far this season, they have only managed to score twelve goals in 16 league games away from home – the fourth weakest figure in La Liga. It’s hard to imagine that the Pamplona side will be able to score at Camp Nou, especially with Saturday’s Copa del Rey final already looming.

Our forecast for the next win for the Blaugrana against Osasuna is accordingly clear.
