Barça vs. Betis: Can Xavi score a third league goal in a row?

On matchday 16 in Spain’s La Liga, FC Barcelona and new coach Xavi welcome Betis Sevilla to Camp Nou. Xavi is aiming for a third league win in a row with his new team.

The odds are not bad, at least if you consult the odds of the best bookmakers for Barcelona vs. Betis Sevilla.

Home game at the Camp Nou, two wins behind them that should inspire: Barcelona are of course favourites against the Andalusians. If you bet on a home win against Betis, you will still get interesting 1.50 odds.

And yet you should never underestimate Betis, for deserved reasons. There are Barça’s poor performances of late, both victories under Xavi were quite fortunate.

In addition, Betis are ahead of FC Barcelona in the standings – the Blaugrana’s supposed must-win should therefore be anything but a foregone conclusion.

Barcelona – Statistics & current form

The results of FC Barcelona so far under the new coach Xavi are good – but not necessarily the performances. Although Barça won both league games so far, 1-0 against Espanyol and 3-1 at Villarreal CF, Xavi’s team was lucky in both games.

Both games could well have ended differently. Espanyol hit the aluminium twice in the closing stages against a shaky and trembling Barça side, while Villarreal called for penalties on two more than controversial occasions, but were denied by the yellow submarine. Much to the luck of FC Barcelona, who also only scored in the 88th minute to make it 2-1 after a defensive error.

Barça’s start under Xavi: The results are right, the performances not quite

Six points from two games is an ideal start in terms of points, but Barça definitely need to improve if they really want to climb further up the table. Xavi’s eleven can do that on Saturday with a home win against Betis, or at least move closer to the Andalusians. Barça are currently seventh (23 points) and Betis fifth (27 points), as the La Liga table shows.

With three points at Camp Nou, the Catalans can close the gap to Betis to one point and gain further self-confidence. If you believe in a home win and bet on Barça to win against Betis, you will be rewarded with, in our opinion, more than acceptable odds.

In our opinion, it is even more interesting to bet on a home win + over 2.5 goals or a win + both goals in the Barcelona vs Betis Sevilla match. Because the past shows: There are plenty of goals in this duel! You can read more about this in the direct comparison section below.

Betis Sevilla – Statistics & current form

Not only Barcelona go into the game with two wins in a row, the same goes for the visitors from Sevilla. Betis have recently enjoyed two deserved and comfortable victories at FC Elche (3-0) and against bottom of the table Levante (3-1) – Betis even turned an early deficit into a comfortable win.

In these games, the Andalusians underlined their strong form this season. Coach Manuel Pellegrini’s team has won eight of its 15 games and is on course for Europe.

Even second place is just two points away. So a treble at the Camp Nou would not only be a minor coup, it could possibly see them climb up the La Liga table – depending on what their rivals Sevilla, Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid do on matchday 16. And they would distance themselves from Barça, whom they are four points ahead of.

Betis travel to Camp Nou with confidence and a good away record

Betis should have no fear of the Camp Nou, Barcelona’s performances this season and recently have not really been scary. In addition, Betis have already recorded plenty of victories away from home this season: They have won four of their seven away games, and only three La Liga teams have taken more points at their opponents’ stadium than Betis (13 points).

If you bet on a Betis win, you will find betting odds of up to 6.50 on Barcelona against Betis Sevilla. These top odds are currently offered by the betting provider Bet365, which has up to €100 in betting credits available for new customers.

Barcelona – Betis Sevilla Direct comparison / H2H record

We already touched on it in the paragraph above: When Barcelona and Betis meet, goals are scored en masse. True goal spectacles have been the order of the day recently. A whopping 53 goals were scored in the last ten matches between Barça and Betis. To name just the last five results: 3:2, 5:2, 3:2, 5:2 and 4:1 – all for FC Barcelona.

From our point of view it is therefore obvious to bet on Barcelona to win and both to score.

Barcelona – Betis Sevilla Tip

Good entertainment, goals galore and spectacular games – that was the order of the day in the Barcelona vs Betis clash recently. The spectators have rarely been disappointed in this match; at most perhaps the Betis supporters, after all Barça have won eight of the last ten meetings.

We believe there will be a ninth win in the eleventh game. Betis are basically in a good mood and have a lot of confidence thanks to their two wins in a row, but the Andalusians traditionally have a hard time at the Camp Nou. In 55 guest games in the time-honoured stadium of the Catalans, there have been 43 victories for Barça – and only five victories for Betis, with seven draws.

Therefore, our prediction before Barcelona vs. Betis Sevilla is: Barcelona win and both score. It doesn’t necessarily have to be another 5:2 or something like that.
