Sevilla want to get back on track
In Spain’s highest division, La Liga, matchday 3 is now upon us. Sevilla FC started the season with big ambitions, but there is not too much of that after two games played.

Almeria: Very strong at home in the promotion season
Almeria had a very good home record in the previous season. The Spaniards won 14 of 21 games at home last season. In addition, only 15 goals were conceded in the home games. A good defensive performance was therefore largely responsible for the team’s success in the higher league and can also be a very good and important factor for staying in the league.
Almeria have not conceded a goal in five of their last nine games. The automatisms are there, as spectators noticed in the first two games. This also gives them hope that a surprise against Sevilla could be possible. In both games in La Liga so far, Almeria have scored a goal of their own.
Precisely because the visitors have offered something so far, Almeria should have a realistic chance of a good result. Sevilla – Statistics & current form
Sevilla FC’s ambitions are definitely high every season. In the summer, however, the Andalusians bought away two important defensive players, Diego Carlos and Jules Koundé. These losses were noticeable at the beginning of the season, when Sevilla had some problems. After two games, the interim result is rather sobering.
After an opening defeat against Osasuna, the most recent result was a 1-1 draw against Real Valladolid. The connection between offence and defence and vice versa is still a cause for concern. Newcomers like Isco, Nianzou or Telles still have to be integrated. This requires patience, which Sevilla only has to a certain extent, because the next few weeks will be tough with the start of the Champions League.
But once the elements on the field have found each other, Sevilla will have a very good squad. Despite all this, there has only been one win in the last seven competitive games, so there is a need to catch up on success. The next opponents after Almeria are Barcelona, Espanyol, Villarreal and Atletico. So it certainly won’t be any easier.
