Will Sherrock’s Grand Slam fairytale continue?

For the first time in the history of the PDC with Fallon Sherrock a woman will reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament. The “Queen of the Palace”, as the 27 year old Englishwoman from Milton Keynes is also called, now aims at the next big coup and wants to eliminate with Peter Wright the second seeded player from the competition.

In the group phase the two quarterfinalists already met. Peter Wright made sure there was a clear balance of power and got an unchallenged win against Fallon Sherrock. So it’s not surprising that the best betting companies again rate “Snakebite” as clear favourite

For a win of Wright vs. Sherrock odds of only 1.22 are offered. In the event of a win by the “Queen of the Palace”, on the other hand, betting odds beyond the 4.00 mark are being paid out.

Compared to the previous round, Sherrock will need to reach 16 legs to eliminate seed Peter Wright from the 2021 Grand Slam. In the group stage the 27-year-old only won one leg against “Snakebite” and was largely without a chance. Since then, however, Sherrock has improved considerably.

Peter Wright – Statistics & current form

This year Peter Wright already prevailed at a Major and celebrated his first title win at the World Matchplay 2021. On the way to the big trophy “Snakebite” eliminated among others Michael Smith and Michael van Gerwen. As expected Wright had no problems against Dimitri van den Bergh in the final.

Since then almost four months have passed. In this period there was not much to cheer for “Snakebite”. Especially in the Players Championship the world number two of the PDC disappointed. Before the Grand Slam of Darts 2021 Wright was even eliminated twice in a row in the first round of the PC29 and PC30.

So the successful group start at the current Major was all the more pleasing. After all the clear success over Fallon Sherrock was trend-setting for the further course in the group. Afterwards Peter Wright lost the clash with Gabriel Clemens and had to fear for his place in the last 16.

Wright remains difficult to assess

In the last group match Wright nevertheless managed a whitewash against Mike de Decker and thus – equal on points with two other group rivals – the group win. Nevertheless, as in the two group matches before, the performance was by no means convincing. After all, “Snakebite” only had an average of 88.41 points against the Belgian youngster.

But at least in the round of 16 things went better. With eight 180s and an average of 90.41 the world number two from Scotland managed a close win against Jose de Sousa. The decision fell in the last leg where “Snakebite” managed to break.

Against Sherrock now a comparatively easier task is on the agenda – at least that’s how the bookmakers see it. After all, in the case of Wright’s success against Sherrock there are currently only betting odds of 1.22.

Fallon Sherrock – Statistics & recent form

Since the defeat against Peter Wright Fallon Sherrock has improved considerably and therefore goes confidently into the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam of Darts 2021. Worthy of praise was especially the eighth-final performance of the Englishwoman. After all with Mensur Suljovic the world number 27 of the PDC was eliminated from the competition.

As in the match with Gabriel Clemens, who was eliminated by Sherrock in the group phase, the “Queen of the Palace” caused a sensation in the arena with bullseye checkouts against Mensur Suljovic. All in all Fallon Sherrock had an average of 90.58 and thus scored more points in the three-darts average than the upcoming quarterfinal opponent Peter Wright.

The latest statistics of the 27-year-old Englishwoman are a good omen. Nevertheless, the clear favourite role of the opponent is not surprising at all. After all, Fallon Sherrock needs to win 16 legs this time to reach the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts 2021.

Enough potential to challenge Wright?

If recent performances are anything to go by, we’d rule out at least an outright defeat for Sherrock on Saturday night. The Englishwoman is in great shape and has the potential to challenge Peter Wright for long stretches. Even for more than 26.5 legs in the match there are good betting odds.

As a clear underdog Fallon Sherrock has nothing to lose in the quarterfinals against Peter Wright. If you want to bet on Wright vs. Sherrock you can get attractive odds on the darts queen if she wins the match.

Peter Wright – Fallon Sherrock Tip

Fallon Sherrock is looking to continue the fairytale at the ongoing PDC Major as she targets another coup against Peter Wright. The darts queen plays a sensational Grand Slam so far and deservedly is among the best eight. In the last 16 the “Queen of the Palace” celebrated a clear win over the Austrian Mensur Suljovic.

At no point was her entry into the quarter-finals really in danger. In contrast Peter Wright only just missed a defeat in the last 16. Only in the last leg after a break of “Snakebite” the decision was made. But Wright’s performance was by no means convincing.

If Sherrock takes the recent momentum from the last 16 with him, we don’t rule out a close match against Peter Wright and see value in the high odds on an underdog coup. Even for a double digit leg haul of the queen of darts the bookmakers offer reasonable prices at the moment.

With a stake of four units we place our bet on Wright vs. Sherrock at attractive odds on “Sherrock in the lead after four legs”. The Englishwoman has the potential to challenge the stumbling “Snakebite” in the early stages of the match.
