Wright finds back to his old strength?

On Wednesday evening, Peter “Snakebite” Wright will also start the 2024 World Darts Championship. The Scot won the World Championship in 2020 and 2022. However, Wright failed to defend his title last year in the third round. Since then, things have gone steadily downhill, which is partly due to “Snakebite’s” private life.

The world number four from Scotland will now start the 2024 World Championship against Jim Williams. In contrast to Wright, Williams has already completed the first round. The Welshman celebrated a “white wash” victory against Norman Madhoo and didn’t concede a single leg over three sets. Nevertheless, our Wright vs Williams betting tip is aimed at the favorite from Scotland

Williams largely benefited from his opponent’s inability in his clear win against Madhoo. A similar performance against a seasoned player like Wright will not be enough to punch his ticket to the third round of the World Darts Championship. At least that’s our prediction for Wednesday’s match

This is already the fourth match between the two players. In two of the last two H2Hs, a prediction on “Snakebite” paid off in Wright vs. It is quite possible that the Scot will extend that record in the upcoming match and thus improve on his recent run of form

Peter Wright – Statistics & current form

Peter Wright has flown largely under the radar this year. Apart from the European Championship in the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, “Snakebite” has not won a major. Wright also stumbled before the 2024 World Championships, winning just one of his last five matches. It therefore remains to be seen how the two-time world champion will start the tournament.

Since his European Championship success in October 2023, the best average Peter Wright has played was a 94.82 against Nathan Rafferty at the Players Championship 30. Wright nevertheless lost the match 4:6. In the Grand Slam 2023, on the other hand, he lost two of his three matches, meaning Wright was eliminated in the group stage without a trace.

At least his World Championship record is impressive. Peter Wright has not been eliminated in the second round of a World Championship since 2019. The world number four wants to continue this streak this year at the “Ally Pally”. Opponent Jim Williams comes in handy

Does Wright extend his record against Williams?

Peter Wright has won two of the last three H2Hs. If “Snakebite” builds on this record and wins again this time, odds of 1.53 will be paid out on Wright vs. Williams for bet 1.

Over the last twelve months, Wright had an average of 93.67. This year, Wright has double odds of 37.62%. However, “Snakebite” has disappointed recently. It is therefore difficult to predict whether the world number four from Scotland will be able to build on these statistics against Jim Williams. However, betting on a victory for Wright is obvious

Jim Williams – Statistics & current form

Jim Williams celebrated a white wash against Norman Madhoo in the first round of the 2024 World Darts Championship. In the best-of-five by sets, Williams not only won the three sets to win 3-0, but also every leg against the challenger from Guyana. However, it should be noted that Williams was also the beneficiary of his opponent’s disastrous performance.

Madhoo did not convert a single one of his eight checkout attempts. In addition, Madhoo only had an average of 73.20. In return, Williams averaged 87.84 and had a double rate of 40.91%. This is the third time in a row that “The Quiff” has reached the second round of a World Darts Championship.

Last year, Williams was eliminated by Gabriel Clemens in the third round of the 2023 World Championship. The Welshman suffered a 3:4 defeat in the best-of-seven. A year earlier, “The Quiff” had to bow out in the second round against Joe Cullen. Now Williams also faces the threat of a premature World Championship exit, as he will meet two-time World Champion Peter Wright.

Will Williams surprise against Wright?

Jim Williams has won eight of his last 11 matches. Since his 6-2 win over Mario Vandenbogaerde in the Players Championship 30, however, he has not cracked the 100 average mark. Williams has played twice since then with an average score below the 90 mark, including the most recent match against Madhoo (87.84).

Over the course of the year, Williams played with an average of 95.13. The Welshman also had a better double rate than Peter Wright and checked out an average of 42.52% of his throws on the doubles. After the weak performance against Madhoo, it remains to be seen whether Williams can build on that against Wright or will have to retire early again

Peter Wright – Jim Williams head-to-head / H2H result

The two players have met three times so far. Wright won two of these three encounters. Williams, on the other hand, has only beaten “Snakebite” once. The last time the two players met was in September 2022

Peter Wright – Jim Williams tip

Peter Wright starts confidently into the 2024 World Championship at the “Ally Pally”. Although Wright had to cope with some setbacks in the run-up to the 2024 World Championship, the world number four from Scotland is definitely one of the favorites at the World Darts Championship. Wright has already been crowned champion twice in his current career.

The last time was at the 2022 World Championship, but “Snakebite” surprisingly had to bow out in the third round the following year. Jim Williams, on the other hand, is still a blank slate at PDC World Championships. In his two previous World Championship appearances, his best result was the third round of the 2022 World Championship

We expect Peter “Snakebite” Wright to get the tournament off to a successful start on Wednesday evening. The world number four from Scotland has not been eliminated in the second round of the World Championship since 2019. The streak is likely to continue this time. His opponent Jim Williams has been playing subterranean of late, but it was still enough to secure a clear win against Madhoo.

Our Wright vs Williams betting tip targets the Scot at odds of 1.53. We use six units for this
