Lando’s mother surprised everyone by comforting Piastri, then shed tears of emotion. His father Adam: “Too much tension—I watched the GP at home alone”

Fingers crossed, a worried look behind her glasses. Cisca Wauman watched her son Lando Norris compete in the Abu Dhabi F1 GP with great tension. The cameras captured her several times as she watched the TV in the McLaren pit, alongside her husband Adam and the driver’s girlfriend, Margarida Corceiro. Her tense expression gradually relaxed as the 58 laps unfolded, especially toward the end, when the F1 world title became a formality for Norris. Once the checkered flag waved, Cisca let her emotions take over, crying tears of joy alongside the rest of the family. And then she made a beautiful gesture.

When her son Lando parked his MCL39 in the third-place spot in the parc fermé, his mother Cisca was right there, ready to greet him. Though he hid his tears behind his helmet visor, Lando appeared moved as he received his mother’s embrace. Shortly after, she waited for Oscar Piastri, her son’s teammate and rival, to pass by, hugging him as well. A sportsmanlike way to pay tribute to a major player in the 2025 F1 World Championship. The perfect image to cap off a season that was spectacular right down to the very last meters.

the family—  At the end of the awards ceremony, Norris thanked his parents: “I owe all of this to Mom and Dad. They allowed me to achieve my dream, and now I can share my emotions with them.” Cisca is of Belgian origin but settled in Bristol with her husband Adam when the family grew. The couple has three other children besides Lando: Oliver, Flo, and Cisca Jr. Sports play a major role in the Norris household. Oliver, in fact, competed in karting until 2014. Flo, on the other hand, practices horseback riding. Little is known about Cisca, who shares her name with her mother.

Norris’s dad—  Adam, father of the new F1 world champion, explained: “From the very first corner, I thought about how I would feel. I watched the race at home alone, trying to stay calm. In these races, you always think something could happen right up until the last lap—you never know.”
