Will the Raiders remain unbeaten?
At first glance, we can expect a very close duel on Monday. However, if we look a little closer at the facts… then it remains the same. Also last year both teams could win one of the direct duels and both times it was very close.
The Chargers win in December even came after overtime. A similar scenario could be in store for us again on Monday, after all, both teams have enough weapons to generate big plays both offensively and defensively.
The Chargers are the slight favourites according to betting sites, which we d’accord with, simply because of Justin Herbert, one of the most exciting and best young quarterbacks in the league. But he does not top the list of quarterbacks. That’s where his counterpart Carr is ahead.
So it’s back and forth on stats and strengths, making betting difficult. For Chargers vs. Raiders, our prediction is a heartbreaker final that could go either way That’s why we set out below to look at betting alternatives.
Start of Monday’s NFL game is at 02:15 on Tuesday night. The game can be watched live on DAZN. The NFL Game Week 4 has more exciting games in store beforehand, e.g. the duel of the still unbeaten Panthers with the Cowboys.
United States Los Angeles Chargers – Statistics & Current Form
Justin Herbert did it again! Just like last year, he put in a squeaky clean performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. With the difference that the Chargers were able to save it over the finish line this time.
That should make them the clear favourites against the Raiders now. But caution is advised against them. Lately, this matchup has been predestined for real thrillers and opposite Derek Carr loves playing LA teams.
Can the Chargers carry the momentum with them?
So much for the Chargers will come down to how their defense can approach this game. Carr has scored the most passing yards so far, so LA’s secondary will be especially challenged right out of the gate.
They were hot against the Chiefs, picking off two interceptions from superstar Mahomes (Gilman and Samuel). If they manage to do the same with Carr, the game should go in the Chargers’ favour early on. However, Carr has been pretty safe on the road this season, throwing just two interceptions in total.
How does their running game work?
That Justin Herbert will deliver is very likely, and yet the Chargers also need to make their running game work Vegas’ bigger weakness, in fact, is against the run, where they still allow 120.3 yards per game.
Against the Chiefs, LA was rather mediocre here with only 77 rushing yards. We expect the Chargers to have the better end of the stick, but handicap bets with a specific value are difficult to place.
Therefore, a bet on the first score is a way out in Los Angeles vs. Las Vegas. Since the Chargers will most likely pick the defence first, Vegas will come in on offence. Thus, the chances of a first score by the away team are good. We opt for a field goal and take an excellent value.
Key Players:
QB: Justin Herbert
– RB: Austin Ekeler
– WR: Keenan Allen
– TE: Jared Cook
– K: Tristan Vizcaino
United States Las Vegas Raiders – Statistics & recent form
Derek Carr and the rival Chargers, it’s been a good fit in recent years. Although he was defeated in December in a heartbreaking loss after overtime, he won the three duels before that with his Raiders.
So far, his entire season has been excellent. He even leads the statistics in terms of yards (1203), while also taking the third most throws of all quarterbacks with 136 pass attempts. That speaks to a pass-first offense for the Raiders.
The Raiders’ running game is also still stagnant
While we just talked about LA’s running game still needing to get going, we see a very similar picture with the Raiders. 91.3 rushing yards per game are not really a threat to opponents yet.
Especially when Carr doesn’t have a perfect day, the runners have to be able to get him out of trouble. Against the strong Chargers secondary it could already come to that and then Jacobs, Drake and Barber will be challenged.
Jacobs still questionable
At the moment, however, Jacobs is still listed as “Questionable” and it will probably only be decided on matchday whether he will be able to play However, Drake and Barber are also good enough as a combo to break the 100 rushing yards.
If they fail to do that again, then we see Vegas falling behind badly already. In addition, we don’t see them moving as fast down the field as they have in previous games, which increases the likelihood of some field goals.
However, with kicker Daniel Carson at 9/9 this season, this isn’t the worst option either. In Chargers vs Raiders, the odds of a successful field goal right out of the gate are so high that we can definitely take a little risk here.
Key Players:
QB: Derek Carr
– RB: Josh Jacobs
– WR: Henry Ruggs III
– TE: Darren Waller
– K: Daniel Carlson
Los Angeles Chargers – Las Vegas Raiders Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
As discussed earlier, this matchup has had some thrillers in its repertoire lately. The last four meetings have all been decided within one score, which makes picks tremendously difficult
The Chargers have the higher probability of a win this year, but whether it comes by one, three or ten points is anyone’s guess. With Los Angeles vs. Las Vegas, a bet on Chargers -3 is still a bet we can go with.
Alternatively, though, we’re looking at a Raiders field goal to start, as the Chargers should probably go on defense first.
United States Los Angeles Chargers – Las Vegas Raiders United States Tip
The Chargers are the favourites and that despite the fact that no team has been able to generate more yards than the Raiders so far. Nevertheless, we see the Los Angeles defence slightly ahead on Monday, which should make it more difficult for the Raiders to score touchdowns.
Already in the previous week, Carlson was challenged on three field goals. He sank all of them, which has certainly increased confidence in him. Thus, we should take advantage of the odds on a Carlson field goal to startat Los Angeles against Las Vegas, as they are also immensely high.
Betting on a touchdown from Chargers receiver Mike Williams is also worth considering. He has become one of Justin Herbert’s favourite targets and caught two balls in the end zone last Sunday.
