Will Chizzy progress to the last 16?
The 2022 World Darts Championship couldn’t have got off to a better start for Chisnall and Humphries. After all there was a “White Wash” for both players to start the tournament. Dave Chisnall won 3:0 against Mike de Decker, Luke Humphries celebrated a clear win (3:0) without losing a set against Rowby-John Rodriguez.
Now Chizzy and Humphries will meet in the round of the last 32. According to the bookmakers, there is no favourite in the English showdown. However, we think it’s a good idea to bet on the veteran Dave Chisnall in the match between Chisnall and Humphries. Among other things his recent World Championship record speaks for it.
In two of the last three World Championships the world number 14 of the PDC at least reached the quarterfinals. At the last World Darts Championship in 2021 Chizzy had to quit the tournament in the semi-finals against runner-up Gary Anderson.
Luke Humpries on the other hand was eliminated in the first round against “oldie” Paul Lim in the last World Championship in the “Ally Pally”. Only a year earlier, Humphries reached the quarter-finals of the 2020 World Cup, so the first-round exit in 2021 was all the more surprising. This time Luke “Cool Hand” Humphries is out to make amends.
Dave Chisnall – Statistics & Current Form
Chisnall makes a comeback. After two setbacks in the Players Championship 30 in Barnsley and the recent Players Championship Finals Chizzy showed just in time for the start of the World Championship why his ranking among the top 15 players of the PDC is justified. The 41 year old in his first match in the 2022 World Darts Championship created a clear balance of power.
Against Mike de Decker Chizzy won 3:0 and celebrated for the first time since October 2021 a “White Wash”. The performance was praiseworthy as his opponent played with an average of 96.43. Chisnall scored as many points on average but the veteran had the better checkout rate in the decisive moments.
In the last sixteen Chizzy will play Luke Humphries. In this calendar year the two Englishmen already met once in the UK Open 2021. Dave Chisnall lost the match against Luke Humphries only by a narrow margin with 9:10. Before Chizzy had missed the win at 9:8 and his own throw.
Will Chizzy take the recent momentum with him?
Compared to his opening match at the 2021 Players Championship Finals, where Chizzy was eliminated by Ritchie Edhouse, the 41-year-old delivered a stellar performance in his latest World Championship match. Chizzy hit 140 or more on 14 throws, and the 41-year-old also checked out a 146 during the match.
Chisnall hit two of his four 180s in the first set. If the world number 14 also gets off to a good start against Luke Humphries, it seems obvious that the 41-year-old will progress to the last 16. The record against Humphries is also encouraging: so far, Chizzy has won five out of six matches against his upcoming opponent.
If Chisnall vs. Humphries wins the next match, odds of up to 1.90 will be paid out for tip 1.

Luke Humphries – stats & recent form
Prior to the 2022 World Darts Championship Luke Humphries already gained confidence in the 2021 Grand Slam and the 2021 PC Finals. While in the Grand Slam he only missed the knockout stage because of the worse leg difference, he lost in the Players Championship Finals only against a strong Jonny Clayton.
Humphries played a match on a par with the world number eight but Clayton was more effective in the deciding moments. Especially in the deciding leg where Luke Humphries couldn’t check out an 82 and lost the win. Before “Cool Hand Luke” had already missed important matchdarts at 9:8.
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old went into this year’s “Ally Pally” adventure with confidence. After all, Humphries had reached the quarter-finals twice in his last four World Championship participations. Only at the 2018 and 2021 World Cups did “Cool Hand Luke” have to retire early. A major setback was last year’s World Cup result, where Humphries was eliminated in the first round by Paul Lim.
Will Humphries get the next win against Chizzy?
The 2022 World Championships kicked off for Luke Humphries with his match against Rodriguez. Already in the first set Humphries showed a clear balance of power and won the set without losing a leg. With an average of 92,02 the first set win was never in danger. His opponent Rodriguez only threw an average of 79.88 points in the first set.
In the course of the match Humphries didn’t let anything go either. A match average of 92.91 was enough to secure the victory against a harmless Rodriguez (average: 82.64). Humphries hit the maximum score (180) three times during the match, including two 180s in the second set.
Against Chizzy, who was one of Humphries’ fears before the UK Open 2021, the 26-year-old prevailed for the first time in his career this calendar year. Betting fans who would like to make a prediction on the next victory of “Cool Hand Luke” against Dave Chisnall in Chisnall vs. Humphries can pick up betting odds of up to 2.00 in the event of success for the world number 19.

Dave Chisnall – Luke Humphries Direct Comparison / H2H Record
The two players have met six times in their careers. Dave Chisnall won five of the six matches so far. Only the most recent match was won by Luke Humphries. At the UK Open 2021, where Chizzy and Humphries met in the quarterfinals, Chisnall missed important matchdarts and wasted the win.
Humphries, on the other hand, made the most of his opportunity to check out double 10 in the deciding leg. But the 26-year-old also missed important match darts at double 20 before the deciding leg.
Dave Chisnall – Luke Humphries Tip
Dave Chisnall made a promising start to the World Championship and – despite an opponent’s average of 96.43 – claimed a well-deserved victory without dropping a set. The 41-year-old now approaches his sixteen-final against Luke Humphries with a broad chest and is eager for revenge.
“Cool Hand Luke” had already eliminated Chizzy from a major in the quarter-finals of the UK Open 2021. By the way, this was the first time Humphries won a match against Chisnall. Before that he had lost five matches in a row against the veteran player.
If Chizzy takes the momentum from the recent World Championship match with him, it is obvious that the 41-year-old will qualify for the last 16 of the 2022 World Darts Championship. The checkout quota will be the most important factor. After all the world number 14 already missed the win against Luke Humphries at the UK Open 2021 after a bad double.
With a bet of six units we dare to bet on Chisnall vs. Humphries at odds of 1.90 on Chizzy.
