The youngster’s impressive growth has not gone unnoticed, especially in England. But the Rossoneri club can count on two key factors…

In recent months, many ears have pricked up, springing into action like those of dogs and cats when something interesting happens. The interesting thing is happening at Milan, where there is a young man who, in the space of six months, has gone from Serie C to Serie A and shows no sign of stopping. Davide Bartesaghi is living a personal fairy tale that has become a guiding star for many young players navigating their way from the youth teams to the first teams. In his case, it is practically perfect for the Rossoneri because Davide, apart from a couple of years spent at Atalanta, has gone through all the steps in the Diavolo’s youth academy before landing in the big leagues.
His is a complex job: the left-back is a particular, delicate role, and then at Milan, on that flank, you still have to contend with the memory of Theo Hernandez’s skids, before the tires became smooth and sent him off the road. Of course, Davide has little or nothing to do with Theo. They are two different types of players and two even more different people. However, even if the football played by number 33 is decidedly less “arrogant” and flashy than that of the Frenchman, his name is now circulating in the upper echelons of European football. Especially in the Premier League, which does not ask too many questions about the possible cost of a player. If profiles that appeal appear on the radar, the offer is made, with all due respect to the thousand – understandable – financial paranoias of Italian clubs when it comes to the transfer market.

What a season for Bartesaghi—  His double against Sassuolo further turned the spotlight on Bartesaghi, but the spotlight was already quite bright. This is thanks to a season in which Davide, game after game, proved himself increasingly valuable and mature, effectively taking the place of Estupinan, who was the designated starter. Suffice it to say that his season average rating is 6.5: only Modric (6.72) and Rabiot (6.63) have done better than him. Davide is just behind the two giants, on the third step of the podium, even higher than Pulisic (6.42). A year ago, he was in the Milan Futuro squad, which was then relegated but fulfilled its primary task: to deliver a promising youngster to the first team. And also to the national team, judging by Gattuso’s words of great openness towards him. All that remains is to be wary of foreign sirens, to avoid temptations that are unlikely to arrive anytime soon. In the meantime, Davide renewed his contract in May until 2030 and is therefore well protected by the Diavolo. Quite simply, he is considered by the club to be one of the cornerstones around which to build the team of the future, in addition to the fact that the full-back is enjoying the good fortune of playing for the club where he was raised and weaned and is very happy where he is. However, English clubs are keeping their ears open, especially Arsenal, who had already set their sights on him in the summer. For now, the problem does not arise, but one thing is certain: the more Bartesaghi makes a name for himself, the more the club will have to resist temptation.
