TSV 1860 Munich has found a new head coach. On Friday (October 10, 2025), the third division club will announce the native of GBaldini: “The penalty given to Berti gives me more joy than the 4-0 win. Camarda? I hate spoons, though…“
The Italy Under-21 coach after the four goals against Sweden: ”The group is cohesive, happy to be together and also full of talent.”
Silvio Baldini played a big part in Italy’s victory this evening, as they dominated Sweden in the qualifiers for the next Under-21 European Championship to remain on full points. But regardless of the result (4-0), it was the spirit of the Azzurrini that surprised: a team that is united as well as strong, as demonstrated by the penalty kick with which Berti closed the game. Pafundi went to the penalty spot but then left the ball to the Cesena talent and home idol, much to the satisfaction of the coach: “That gesture shows that this is a cohesive group, happy to be together, who like to laugh and joke but also know how to work. It’s a gesture that fills me with more joy than the 4-0 victory.”
From one penalty to another, Baldini also commented on Camarda’s decision to take the penalty with a chip shot, which made it 2-0: “Everyone is free to kick however they want, even if I hate those penalties! But if someone feels like it, it’s right that they do it.” And on the team: “It’s a group full of talent, but talent that needs to be cultivated with hard work and a clear head: that’s what makes the difference. I don’t put pressure on them, I explain the game to them and then they go out on the pitch to show how good they are.” No sooner said than done.
As this editorial team has learned, Markus Kauczinski will be presented as the new Löwen coach on Friday. The 55-year-old, who was most recently in demand as an expert on “Magenta Sport,” won the race. According to RS information, Thomas Oral (most recently Grasshoppers Zurich) was also in the running until the very end – we reported on this.
On Tuesday evening, however, 1860 officials contacted Kauczinski and then everything happened quickly. We at RS learned that the Gelsenkirchen native, who has settled in Karlsruhe with his family, was able to agree on a contract with the highly ambitious Bavarians until June 30, 2027.
Kauczinski is an experienced soccer coach who is considered a meticulous worker and a great motivator. He will have to breathe new life into the team around stars Kevin Volland and Florian Niederlechner and, above all, instill a clear tactical approach. 1860 is considered the top favorite for promotion and, after ten match days and twelve points, is already seven points behind third place. On October 19 (Sunday, 4:30 p.m.), Kauczinski will make his debut as Löwen coach against league leaders MSV Duisburg, of all teams. Kauczinski was most recently coach of SV Wehen Wiesbaden from November 2021 to April 2024. Before that, he worked as coach at SG Dynamo Dresden, FC St. Pauli, FC Ingolstadt, and Karlsruher SC.
In recent months, he has repeatedly been linked with third-division clubs such as VfL Osnabrück and Rot-Weiss Essen as head coach. Now he will continue his career in the 3. Liga with the traditional club TSV 1860 München, based on Grünwalder Straße!
