Sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson has publicly apologized to her partner Christian Coleman: they had a furious argument before the US Trials, which resulted in the American athlete’s arrest.

Sha’Carri Richardson, US athletics star, has publicly apologized to Christian Coleman, her boyfriend and colleague with whom she had an argument on the eve of the US Trials, which led to the sprinter’s arrest by Seattle police on charges of domestic violence. She spent several hours in a cell after the incident.

Richardson posted the following words on her Instagram channel: “I apologize to Christian. He came into my life and gave me more than a relationship, but a real understanding of unconditional love, even in light of what I had experienced in the past, trauma and pain.” She continued: “I was blind and stuck not only in receiving it, but also in giving love. I love him and will never stop apologizing to him. My apology should be as strong as my actions, honestly even stronger. I’m so sorry.“

Coleman said at the US Athletics Championships that she had forgiven Sha’Carri: ”I think it was a horrible situation from all angles. I don’t think she should have been arrested. I mean, people have arguments, emotions. She has things she needs to work on for herself. So do I, and so does everyone. But I’m the kind of person who likes forgiveness and love.”
