The next setback for Spurs?

If you had told Tottenham before the season that their visit to city rivals Brentford on matchday 24 would be a clash between 11th and 15th place, you would certainly have been met with a very unhappy expression. However, if you had told the Spurs that they would only be 15th in the league in this constellation, everyone in north London would probably have dismissed it with a shake of the head. But that is the harsh reality, which is why the tip for Brentford to win at home against Tottenham is significantly more popular.

While only Liverpool (26) and Arsenal (25) have earned more points than Brentford (23) in their own stadium, the Spurs are one of the weakest away teams in the league. Only bottom-of-the-league Southampton have lost more Premier League away games (ten) than the Lilywhites (seven) in 2024/25, which is why our prediction for Brentford v Tottenham has to be a home win.

Spurs have lost four Premier League games in a row, although they have at least secured a direct ticket to the last 16 of the Europa League with victories over Hoffenheim and Elfsborg. Last Sunday, however, the Lilywhites lost 2-1 at home to newly promoted Leicester. Before that, they lost 3-2 to Everton FC, who are also facing relegation. Not a good basis for survival in the London derby against a team as strong at home as Brentford.

Brentford – statistics & current form

Brentford Football Club is based in the district of the same name in west London. Thomas Frank’s team were promoted to the Premier League in the summer of 2021 and have held their own here ever since, although there were concerns about relegation last season. In the end, however, the Bees managed to save themselves and finish in 16th place.

Currently, the team of coach Thomas Frank can be found in eleventh place in the table. With a nine-point gap to sixth place and a 15-point lead over the first relegation place, the gaps are too large in both directions for too much to happen in the further course of the season.

Brentford have not been in great form lately

They would have been in with a chance of a better result if the West Londoners had not increasingly lost their way in recent weeks. Frank’s team have won only two of their last ten competitive games (two draws, six defeats).

At least they got a valuable three points again last weekend with a 2-1 away win in the derby against Crystal Palace, which they should now build on. Basically, the tip for Brentford’s second win in a row is also under a good star due to the visitors’ poor form against Tottenham.

Brentford has the best home offense in the league

After all, Brentford FC is one of the strongest home teams in the Premier League. Only Liverpool (26) and Arsenal (25) have scored more points at home than the West Londoners (23), who, with 29 goals scored, even have the strongest home offense in the English top flight.

But there is at least one small but here: Not only have the Bees been waiting for another win for four Premier League home games now (one draw, three defeats), but they have always conceded at least one goal in their last 13 league games at the Brentford Community Stadium without exception. This London derby should therefore probably not be a goalless draw…

Tottenham – Statistics & current form

The Tottenham Hotspur Football Club had a really good season in 2023/24 under Ange Postecoglou, finishing fifth in the final table, despite a big setback on the transfer market at the start of the season due to the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

In view of the fact that no other cornerstone was lost last summer, the completely disappointing course of the 2024/25 season is all the more inexplicable. With only 24 points from 23 Premier League games, the Lilywhites are in a completely sobering 15th place in the table.

Full focus on the Europa League?

The kickers from north London, who recently even lost 2-1 to newly promoted Leicester City, who are in a relegation spot, can still count themselves lucky that several teams are even weaker. Thus, they are at least eight points ahead of the first relegation spot.

Tottenham is the form-weakest team in the Premier League

However, the leaders should certainly not have to watch the descent in the Premier League for much longer. The Lilywhites have lost six of their last seven Premier League games (one draw) and only picked up one point out of a possible 21 during that period – the lowest in the league.

It’s no wonder, then, that the odds against the North Londoners are now also against Brentford against Tottenham. LeoVegas offers 3.25 for an away win by the Spurs at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Head to head: 7 – 16 – 26

The London derby between these two clubs has taken place 49 times, with Tottenham winning more than half of all matches against Brentford FC, with 26 wins. The Spurs also won the first leg in north London 3-1, but have not scored more than a draw in their last four visits to the Brentford Community Stadium.
