Do the Packers continue their good run?
In the night from Monday to Tuesday, the New York Giants will face the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League. The roles seem to be quite clear in advance, because while the visitors would currently qualify for the playoffs, the home side are at the back of midfield in the NFC and are therefore looking to catch up. For this reason, the betting odds between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers clearly favor a win for the visiting team
However, we should by no means underestimate the hosts, as Brian Daboll’s team has recently won two games in a row. However, we shouldn’t overestimate the two victories either, as the opponents, Washington and New England, were not particularly strong. What’s more, the Packers are also in good form and have even won their last three games. It is therefore no wonder that the odds are against a home win between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers
We recommend betting on a Jayden Reed touchdown between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers. The rookie has only failed to score a touchdown once in the last four games and is therefore in great form. What’s more, Christian Watson, one of the three key pass receivers, is out. Reed and Doubs will therefore be particularly challenged
Kickoff for this game is Tuesday at 2:15 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The game can be watched live and in full on DAZN.
New York Giants – Statistics & current form
New York are currently in third place in the NFC East and have triumphed just four times in their first twelve games. The gap between them and the Philadelphia Eagles, the current leaders in their division, is already six wins and can no longer be closed. The only option left is to reach the knockout round based on the number of wins. However, as the Vikings, Packers, Rams and Seahawks have already won two more games, the chances are rather slim.
Great chance
Tommy DeVito has already made five appearances this season and has made a very solid impression overall. The youngster benefited from the injuries to quarterback Daniel Jones and his replacement Tyrod Taylor. The rookie was particularly impressive in the touchdown pass category, throwing seven passes for the end zone. However, he still lacks the necessary experience, which is why he has already been sacked 28 times
High flexibility
Saquon Barkley is by far the best player in the Giants’ offense and one of the few bright spots. The running back has already amassed 697 rushing yards this season, even though he has already missed three games. Nevertheless, the New York superstar has to put up with some criticism, as he has only run into the end zone once so far. Curiously, however, the running back has already caught four passes for a touchdown.
Weak receivers
Darius Slayton is the Giants’ best pass receiver with only 435 receiving yards. That puts the wide receiver at just 70th in the league, and the top receiver has only managed a single touchdown so far. It is therefore no wonder that New York is the weakest team in the NFL in the passing game, averaging just 151.6 passing yards. So the home side’s quarterback doesn’t have an easy job
Shaky defense
With just 13.3 points per game, the home side have one of the weakest offenses in the league and rarely manage to provide any relief. As a result, the defensive stats are not particularly good either, quite the opposite in fact. The Giants concede an average of 24.3 points and are not particularly good in this category either. It hardly matters whether the opponents prefer the running or passing game.
Key players for the New York Giants:
- QB: Tommy DeVito
- RB: Saqoun Barkley
- WR: Darius Slayton
- LB: Bobby Okereke
- K: Randy Bullock
Green Bay Packers – stats & current form
Green Bay are currently only in third place in the NFC North, but are seventh in the NFC. This would currently qualify Matt LeFleur’s team for the NFL playoffs. However, with a record of six wins and six defeats, the visitors are under a lot of pressure, as a defeat could see the Los Angeles Rams or the Seattle Seahawks take over the play-off spot. A win against the Giants, who have been weak to date, is therefore almost mandatory
Superb season
Jordan Love may only be 25 years young, but he has made a very solid impression so far. The Packers quarterback has already amassed 2,866 passing yards this season and has thrown 22 touchdown passes. However, with ten interceptions, the youngster is still a little too susceptible and often makes the wrong decision in pressure situations. Nevertheless, Green Bay will be satisfied with his overall performance
Good running game
AJ Dillon is currently the best runner on the Packers’ roster with 521 rushing yards. However, he only ranks 33rd in the league, which is why Green Bay is not particularly strong in the run game. The running back is also questionable for the upcoming game and will most likely be replaced by Aaron Jones. That would of course further weaken the running game.
While the visitors are struggling in the run game, the passing game clearly seems to be their main discipline. With Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson and Jayden Reed, the Packers also have three extremely strong pass receivers in their ranks. The trio has 1440 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns this season. These are of course outstanding figures
Solid defensive work
Matt LaFleur’s team is allowing an average of just 20.3 points, putting them ninth in the league. Nevertheless, the Packers’ defense revealed a clear weakness. Hardly any other team in the NFL allows as many rushing yards (⌀136.3) as Green Bay. Overall, however, the coach can still be satisfied with his D-line.
Key players for the Green Bay Packers:
- QB: Jordan Love
- RB: Aaron Jones
- WR: Jayden Reed
- WR: Romeo Doubs
- K: Anders Carlson
New York Giants – Green Bay Packers head-to-head / H2H record
The direct comparison of the two teams goes to the favorite. The visitors have won 18 duels against the Giants, while the home side currently has 13 wins. The last time the two teams met was in October 2022, over a year ago. Back then, New York won 27:22 and caused a major surprise. However, we do not expect a similar result next Sunday, which is why our prediction between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers is in favor of the visiting team
New York Giants – Green Bay Packers tip
The signs clearly point to an away win, because while the home side was unable to convince in either offense or defense, the visitors played good football in both areas. In addition, the visiting team have won four of their last five games and are therefore in an absolute peak of form. We are therefore betting on a win for the away team between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers, including a half-time lead
Alternatively, we recommend the odds for over 1.5 field goals by the home side between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers. As already mentioned, the host’s offense is not particularly strong so far and has only scored 15 touchdowns this season (⌀1.25). We would therefore not be surprised if one or the other attack ends with a field goal attempt
