FB has tasted blood: Next win for the Canaries?

After a mixed start to the season, Fenerbahce Istanbul have found their winning ways in recent competitive matches. The Canaries not only set the course for the Europa League group stage with a 2-0 win over Vienna Austria, but also took the top spot in the Turkish top flight with a 4-2 win over Adana last Monday.

The Süper Lig leaders now approach the second leg of the EL play-offs with a broad chest. Fenerbahce are not even under any pressure to win. Even with a narrow defeat, the team of FB coach Jorge Jesus still qualifies for the group stage of the Europa League. It therefore remains to be seen whether the Portuguese will fire up the rotation machine against the visitors from Vienna.

There is enough room for it. The guests from Vienna, on the other hand, will start the match in their best line-up. To turn around the 0:2 from the first leg, however, the Veilchen will need a small football miracle in Istanbul. Especially as Fenerbahce have never lost a match against an Austrian team so far.

After seven competitive matches with clubs from Austria, the Canaries from Istanbul currently have a record of 4-3-0. If the next win beckons, Fenerbahce vs. Austria Wien betting odds of 1.42 are paid out for tip 1.

Fenerbahce – Statistics & current form

FB coach Jorge Jesus can breathe a sigh of relief. The Portuguese made a false start as the new head coach of Fenerbahce Istanbul and had to cope with bitter setbacks in the early stages of the season. Not only did Fenerbahce fail to start the season in the league, they also had to bow out of the top flight.

The yellow and navy blue team was defeated by Dynamo Kiev and has since continued its international adventure in the Europa League. After eliminating 1. FC Slovacko from the competition in the previous round, they now want to kick Wiener Austria out of the competition. Fenerbahce already won the first leg away from home with 2:0.

For long stretches of the game, the Yellow Navy Blue team benefited from the inability of their opponents to score. In addition, FB played with more players in the final phase, which enabled them to increase the lead to 2-0. However, there can be no talk of a power show, which is why a match of equals cannot be ruled out in the second leg.

Next offensive spectacle from FB?

Most praiseworthy in recent competitive matches has been Fenerbahce’s offensive performance. In the last three matches, the yellow and navy blue team scored ten goals – an average of more than three goals per match. It is quite possible that the goal quota will be increased in the upcoming match against Austria.

At home, Fenerbahce have lost only one of their last twelve games on the international stage, scoring a total of 18 goals. It is therefore obvious to bet on over 2.5 goals in the match between Fenerbahce and Austria Wien. Especially since the visitors will have to risk a lot in their offensive play after the change of ends at the latest.

The team of FB coach Jesus, on the other hand, can lurk for counter-attacking chances. Only King, Sangaré and Aziz will miss the return match at the Sükrü Saracoglu Stadium due to injury. There are no other absentees for the top club from Istanbul.

Austria Vienna – Statistics & current form

The Veilchen fought back against Wolfsberger AC last week despite being 1-0 down and bagged their next win with a 2-1 win on matchday five of the Austrian Bundesliga. As a result, Austria also made a small jump in the table and are now in ninth place in the Bundesliga due to the point deduction from the association.

The second leg in the ongoing EL playoffs is now on the agenda for the Violets this week. Because they lost the first leg 2-0 at the Viola Arena, Austria will have to rely on a small football miracle in Istanbul to reach the group stage of the second most important UEFA European Cup.

A small consolation is the fact that the Viennese will continue their international adventure in the group stage of the Conference League even if they fail to qualify for the EL. The last time Vienna Austria reached the group stage of a European Cup was in the 2017/18 season.

Red lantern relinquished: Motivation boost for the Violets?

After the successful comeback in Wolfsberg, the Veilchen are not expected to make any major changes in the starting eleven. Especially on the offensive, head coach Manfred Schmid’s team left a good impression recently and even scored two goals. In addition to Gruber, wild card Djuricin also scored in the most recent match in the Bundesliga.

Internationally, the Violets now want to take the momentum from the Bundesliga with them. Since the 2016/17 season, Austria Wien have scored at least one goal in each of their last 13 away matches on the international stage. The series away from home is now to be continued at Fenerbahce Istanbul.

Head coach Schmid will have to do without Raguz, Smrcka, Wustinger, Baltaxa and El Sheiwi due to injury. Central defender Galvao, on the other hand, is also unavailable after being sent off last week.

Predicted line-up of Austria Wien:
Fruchtl; Ranftl, Handl, Muhl, Koumetio, Da Graca; Braunoda, Fischer, Holland; Gruber, Fitz

Fenerbahce – Austria Wien Direct comparison / H2H-balance

Last week Fenerbahce and Austria Wien met for the first time in their club history. The match at the Viola Arena in Vienna was won 2-0 by Fenerbahce, extending their record against teams from Austria to 4-3-0.

Fenerbahce – Austria Wien Tip

Fenerbahce have already set their course for a place in the Europa League group stage With a 2-0 first leg win, the Canaries already have one foot in the next round. The Viennese, on the other hand, are dependent on a miracle and will have to risk a lot in the second leg to even dream of a comeback.

Therefore, we can expect an attacking encounter in which it will probably only be a matter of time before the three-goal mark is broken. Just a few days ago, Fenerbahce had a battle with Adana in the league and took the lead in the standings with a 4-2 win at their own stadium.

If the Canaries can continue their winning ways against the visitors from Vienna, we expect the Turkish representatives to score again. With a stake of six units, we therefore dare to bet on Fenerbahce vs. Austria Wien at odds of 1.53 on Fenerbahce to score more than 1.5 goals.
