Magpies aim to remain unbeaten for the eighth time in a row
There are only eleven rounds of matches left in the British top flight and the situation at the top of the table is quite entertaining. The reigning champions still occupy first place, but the gap between them and the Reds has narrowed to six points and the Mersey outfit have one game less to play.
The Citizens also have a tough game ahead of them. In the derby, they face the Red Devils, who are currently stable and have not lost for eight rounds of matches, although admittedly half of those matches were not won at the same time.
On the other hand, LFC do not have an easy task ahead of them: After all, it is against West Ham and the Londoners, in fifth place, are still in the fight for participation in the next edition of the Champions League. The “Magpies” also want to continue their upswing in the home game against the faltering Brighton kickers.
For all Premier League fixtures within the 28th matchday, you can read succinctly written tips and odds below!
Leicester vs. Leeds – 05 March, 13:30
The Foxes are contesting an English week this week, having already been challenged by the “Clarets” last Tuesday night. The catch-up game from the 22nd round of matches ended with a 2-0 victory. Nevertheless, the home side cannot be satisfied with the results of the last few weeks.
In 2022, none of the five league matches had been won before. The guests, however, are currently even shakier. The defence in particular is hardly competitive at the moment: For five rounds of matches, they have always conceded at least three goals.
No wonder that the last four league games were all lost. For the club’s management, this “yield” was the decisive factor for a change of coach. Last Monday, former RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch took over from Marcelo Bielsa.
For the clash in Leicester in the Premier League on matchday 28, tips on more than one goal for the hosts are still recommended.
Even if the new US-American manager will of course set some new impulses with regard to the defence, it is not to be assumed that he will be able to decisively stabilise the completely unsettled back line in just a few days.
On the contrary, a qualitative deficiency has long since become apparent in this part of the team. In addition, Jamie Vardy returned to the home side after a long injury break in the recent match against Burnley.
The striker scored on his comeback and set up his side’s other goal, despite playing less than 20 minutes of the game!
Aston Villa vs. Southampton – 05 March, 16:00
Birmingham remain a wonder package under Steven Gerrard as coach: the Liverpool icon has an almost even record of six wins, seven defeats and two draws after 15 games in charge of Aston Villa.
Most recently, the home side won again at Brighton, but this does not change the verdict of a lack of consistency. The Saints, on the other hand, are much more stable: Coach Ralph Hasenhüttl’s team has not lost in five rounds of matches and recently won against Everton and Norwich.
Admittedly, these are two opponents who can be counted among the current lightweights in the top British division. For the match at Villa Park in the Premier League on matchday 28, tips on a draw are recommended. There is no real favourite, so the match is likely to be evenly matched.
Burnley vs. Chelsea – 05 March, 16:00
Burnley already played a game against Leicester this week, as mentioned. The hosts were beaten 2-0 by the Foxes. The interim upswing with wins against Tottenham and Brighton has thus already come to a standstill again.
Even the recent newcomer Wout Weghorst has not yet fulfilled the hopes placed in him. The Dutchman and former Wolfsburg player has scored only one goal in seven league games for his new employers.
The visitors, on the other hand, will have spent the week licking their wounds. The reason was last Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool in the EFL Cup final. After a goalless number, the penalty shoot-out had to decide and shortly before the end of the game Blues coach Thomas Tuchel had changed the goalkeeper for it.
Although substitute Kepa held ten penalties for Mendy, when it was his turn for an attempt on goal of his own, the Spaniard’s nerves failed him, which is why the Reds could rejoice in winning the League Cup.
For the upcoming match at Turf Moor in the Premier League as part of Matchday 28, betting tips on an away win with a one-goal difference now look profitable. The hosts are at a physical disadvantage due to the extra match this week and the Londoners, of course, have the clearly better-stocked squad anyway.
In addition, they cannot afford to slip up in the fight for third and fourth place, as Manchester United and West Ham, the closest pursuers, are currently performing solidly.
However, the home side’s defence is quite solid in home games: Burnley have conceded only twelve goals on their own ground in as many games, so at least there is no sign of a defeat for the home side.
The prediction is backed up by the statistics of home defeats this season: only the last one against Leicester out of six so far in league action and in the two domestic cup competitions did not come by a one-goal margin!
Newcastle v Brighton – 05 March, 16:00
Newcastle are finally playing some decent football again: since the squad was reshuffled during the winter break, things have clearly improved for the Magpies. The home side have not lost for seven matchdays and have won more than half of those games.
Joe Willock in particular has woken up, scoring in each of the last two rounds against West Ham and Brentford. These were his first goals of the season despite already making 21 league appearances!
Brighton, on the other hand, have clearly lost ground recently with three defeats, each without a goal of their own. For the match at Newcastle in the Premier League on matchday 28, bets on a home win are therefore worth considering.
Norwich v Brentford – 05 March, 16:00
Norwich vs Brentford is a crisis duel. The home side are bottom of the table and have lost three times in a row recently. Admittedly, the tasks were mostly very difficult, as they had to play against the two top teams at the top of the table from Manchester and Liverpool, among others.
The interim upswing has nevertheless evaporated again. The visiting Londoners, however, are also in troubled waters: Their last win in the division came two months ago and since then they have lost seven of eight games.
In the “misery versus adversity” Premier League clash on matchday 28, predictions of a draw are therefore interesting. A match outcome that both teams would certainly be happy with, as at least the flood of defeats in recent weeks would have been stopped.
Wolverhampton v Crystal Palace – 05 March, 16:00
The Wanderers were last defeated by West Ham with 0:1. As it was the second defeat in a row after a loss at Arsenal, the prospects in the fight for a place for the international business have darkened again.
Wolves will not be able to rely on a home bonus, as their home record is average with five wins, five defeats and two draws. The visitors from Selhurst Park have also stabilised on the road recently: they have not lost in four matches away from home.
However, this was also helped by a merciful fixture list, as with teams like Norwich, Brentford or Watford, the tasks on the most recent footballing tours were also easy. For the clash at the Molineux Stadium in the Premier League within the 28th round of fixtures, value can be located in the odds on a draw.
Liverpool v West Ham – 05 March, 18:30
The newly crowned EFL Cup winners get a visit from London. The home side are on a run of ten wins across the competition! Furthermore, they can rely on the home bonus. Coach Jürgen Klopp’s men are the only team in the British top flight not to have lost a single home game (10-3-0).
Moreover, only the champions score as many goals on home soil as LFC, and with seven goals conceded in their 13 home games in the league so far, the home side also boast the best home defence.
In view of these points, bets on a home win, including an interval lead, are recommended for the match at Anfield Road in the Premier League on matchday 28. A course of play that has already been observed in eight of the 13 home matches.
While the Hammers have been solid of late, with two wins and two draws, three of those encounters have been at home and Liverpool are seemingly unstoppable at the moment.
Watford vs. Arsenal – 06 March, 15:00
The Hornets currently occupy penultimate place in the table. However, a respectable goalless draw at Manchester United was recorded recently. However, the home record so far does not inspire much hope: only two wins and one draw in 13 home games is the worst record in the league.
Watford also concede the most goals on home soil. The Londoners, for their part, have recently improved on the road: Three of the five away wins so far this season have come in the last three away games! The defence in particular has been very solid, conceding only one goal.
Manchester City vs. Manchester United – 06 March, 17:30
In the Manchester derby, which is taking place for the 50th time in the Premier League, important points are at stake for both teams at the same time. The home side cannot afford to lose points because of Liverpool’s stable form in the championship race.
For their part, the visitors, who have won 24 of the 49 Premier League editions so far (24-9-16), cannot hand out any visiting gifts as they are in contention for third and fourth place, each of which carries a direct ticket to the next edition of the top flight.
In addition, the statistics of the recent past speak in favour of United: the record champions have won each of the past three guest matches at the Etihad Stadium! Furthermore, the coaching change at MUFC from last December has paid off: under Ralf Rangnick, the Red Devils have only lost once (8-8-1).
For the Manchester derby in the Premier League on matchday 28, bets on an away win, a draw or a defeat for the visitors with a maximum difference of one goal are therefore recommended.
Tottenham vs. Everton – 07 March, 21:00
The Lilywhites have won just two of their last five league games and have been knocked out of the ranks for international business. Most recently, however, they picked up another win. Tottenham won 4:0 against Leeds. However, the success must be put into perspective, as United are currently the league’s shooting gallery, as mentioned above.
The visitors, however, are not scary at all at the moment. In 17th place, the relegation zone is only one point away and the change of coach at the beginning of last month has brought little improvement.
Although Frank Lampard started promisingly with a clear home victory against Brentford in the FA Cup, three of the four league games under his management have ended in defeat for the Toffees. Furthermore, the only victory was only achieved against Leeds, who, as already mentioned, are currently in particularly poor form.
For the match in London in the Premier League on matchday 28, bets on a home win therefore seem promising.
Even though the hosts have lacked consistency lately, they still take the role of favourites, because Everton act even weaker. In addition, the pressure on Lampard’s team is increasing and Everton’s fear of relegation has long since spread. On top of that, the visitors are the weakest team in the Premier League away from home (1-3-8).
