Will United also lose against the Seagulls?
The next setback for Ralf Rangnick and Manchester United. The Red Devils have after the point against Burnley FC also only picked up a point against Southampton FC and thus missed the chance of a direct starting place for the top flight. This week, Rangnick & Co. will make their next attempt.
At Old Trafford, they have to play the catch-up game against Brighton. With their defensive bulwark, the Seagulls are an unpleasant opponent and should by no means be underestimated as the supposed underdogs. Brighton have not lost any of their last seven games in the English top flight – will it stay that way?
Among others, Brighton scored twice against Chelsea, the third-placed team in the Premier League, during this period. It would therefore not be at all surprising if the Seagulls also take at least a point at Old Trafford. For Manchester United vs. Brighton, odds of up to 2.14 are offered for a “Double Chance X2” bet.
Last week, Brighton once again tanked their confidence in the must-win game against Watford. The Seagulls won the away game against the promoted side 2-0, adding to their strong away record this season. Brighton have only lost once away from home in the league so far.
Manchester United – Statistics & current form
The desired success at Manchester United under interim solution Ralf Rangnick has yet to materialise. The displeasure among the supporters is therefore understandable to a certain extent, especially as United have had to cope with several setbacks in recent weeks. Not only were the Red Devils eliminated from the FA Cup, but they also failed to win either of their last two Premier League games.
Chasers like Arsenal took advantage and have meanwhile reduced the gap. Table neighbours WHU, who occupy the fourth and thus final starting place for the top flight, have maintained their lead over United despite the latest points division. Man Utd, however, have one game less to play and can still claim fourth place on their own merits.
The Red Devils’ most important game will be against Brighton. Man Utd have won six out of twelve home games so far. On the other hand, United have already lost four and drawn two of their twelve home games.
Will United draw again?
Under Rangnick, only the defence has made a good impression, but the Red Devils have lacked attacking punch. Man Utd have only scored one goal against Southampton and Burnley, who have conceded an average of more than one goal per game this season.
The match against Brighton will therefore be a real test for Rangnick & Co., especially as the Seagulls have the fifth strongest defensive bulwark in the league. The only encouraging aspect in the run-up to the game is the recent record against the upcoming opponents from the southern English port city. After all, Man Utd have won their last five games against the Seagulls.
If Manchester United vs. Brighton win again, betting odds of up to 1.77 are paid out for tip 1. Ralf Rangnick will be without four players for the home game against the Seagulls due to injury. In addition, Mason Greenwood remains suspended.

Brighton – Statistics & current form
Brighton can hardly complain about their season so far. Last season, head coach Graham Potter’s side were 16th in the table after 25 matchdays and struggling to stay in the relegation zone. This season, on the other hand, there is even a single-digit place in the table in the English top flight just a few matchdays after the start of the second half of the season.
The Seagulls are one of the positive surprises of the current season. The team’s showpiece has undoubtedly been its defensive bulwark, which has enabled Brighton to defy top clubs such as Chelsea & Co. Statistically, the Seagulls currently have the fifth strongest defence in the league.
On average, they conceded only one goal per game. In the Premier League, Brighton have only conceded more than two goals in a league game this season against Manchester City. Since the 4-1 defeat to the Citizens, Potter’s side have lost just two of their last 14 games in the English top flight. Good chance that form will be underpinned against Man Utd too.
Does the defensive bulwark hold against United?
On the road, Brighton currently stand at a record of 4-7-1, having won two of their last three away games, including an impressive 3-2 win over Everton FC. One of the few bright spots in the attacking department is Neap Maupay, who is set to double up with ex-United striker Welbeck.
Maupay has scored eight goals for the Seagulls this season, making him the most prolific player in Brighton’s ranks. With the ninth-placed side having made a positive impression against Watford FC last week, it stands to reason that the starting eleven will remain unchanged against Manchester United.
Only Mwepu and Sarmiento will miss the Manchester game due to injury. There are no other absentees in the Seagulls’ ranks.
Predicted Brighton line-up:
Sanchez; Veltman, Dunk, Webster; Lamptey, Lallana, Bissouma, Moder, Cucurella; Maupay, Trossard

Manchester United – Brighton betting tips
Rangnick is on thin ice at the moment. After all, United’s interim coach has not won any of the last three competitive games. Among other things, Rangnick & Co. even had to say goodbye to the FA Cup and thus lost any chance of winning a national trophy this season.
In the league, the primary goal remains the right to compete in the top flight. United are currently in fifth place, but Rangnick’s side are only one point behind fourth-placed WHU with one game less to play. The match against Brighton is therefore of immense importance.
The Seagulls will by no means be hiding at fifth-placed Manchester in their current form. After all, Brighton have not lost any of their last seven games in the English top flight. It is quite possible that the form curve will also be underpinned at stumbling United.
