Does the Kraichgau crisis continue?
Sunday holds a whole host of highlights in store for the Sportfreunde. You can watch the Winter Olympics in Beijing until noon, then there’s the Bundesliga, including the match between Hoffenheim and Bielefeld.
But first we look at the football. The crisis-ridden Hoffenheim side want to turn things around and deliver results again. They were fully on course for the Champions League, but now it looks more like the season will end bleakly in mediocrity. However, everything is still possible – provided that the series of bankruptcies ends quickly.
At present, the Kraichgauer are only in eighth place in the Bundesliga. But the battle for Europe is really close at the moment. That’s why we wouldn’t make any predictions before the clash between Hoffenheim and Bielefeld that 1899 won’t qualify for the European Cup, but the chances have been better in recent weeks.
Bielefeld, on the other hand, is where this team belongs. The East Westphalians are currently in 15th place, but have recently shown how well they can cope in the relegation battle. Frank Kramer’s team gives everything in every game and has been rewarded for this passion in recent games. Therefore, we can definitely imagine placing a bet on a point win for Arminia in the game Hoffenheim vs Bielefeld.
Hoffenheim – Statistics & current form
Actually, it’s hard to say why the Kraichgauer’s season is going in such waves. Sometimes they rush from victory to victory and then they concede several defeats in a row, without having bad luck with injuries, half the team being ill or the opponents simply being overpowering. Therefore, it will be interesting to see when TSG’s negative streak will come to an end.
Pleitenserie der Kraichgauer
The team has currently lost four games in a row in the Bundesliga. In the Bundesliga, they have lost their good starting position and have been eliminated from the DFB Cup. At least things are still going well in their own arena, as there has only been one defeat in the last eight Bundesliga home games at the PreZero Arena. At least that doesn’t sound like you have to play the odds on an Arminia win between Hoffenheim and Bielefeld.
Last weekend TSG were guests at FSV Mainz 05, where they suffered a 0:2 defeat after an even game. Once again, the Kraichgauers have failed to overcome a solvable task. The Hoffenheimers seem to have lost a little of their ease, which they now have to work hard to regain.
Not much has happened on the injury front for TSG. Several players are still out of action. Ermin Bicakcic, Marco John and Robert Skov will need a while before they are available again. Andrej Kramaric is in isolation. Otherwise, all players should be in. That gives Sebastian Hoeneß a few options in his starting eleven.
Predicted line-up of Hoffenheim:
Baumann – Vogt, Grillitsch, Hübner – Kaderabek, Raum – Geiger, Samassekou, Baumgartner – Bebou, Rutter – Coach: Hoeneß

Bielefeld – Statistics & current form
The East Westphalians are perhaps the epitome of a relegation battle this season. Frank Kramer’s team does what it can and throws everything into the balance. Not for nothing is Arminia the team with the most runs in the league. Recently, the successes have also been added, so that this team knows exactly how to annoy the opponent.
Historic series of the East Westphalians
This is the way the Bielefelders have not lost for six games. In the Bundesliga history of Arminia, there was only one time a longer series. Moreover, the East Westphalians have not lost in their last three away games. There are certainly indications to predict a point win for the visitors in the clash between Hoffenheim and Bielefeld.
Last weekend, Borussia Mönchengladbach were guests at the Alm. Janni Serra gave his team an early 1-0 lead, but the Foals came back into the game and scored to make it 1-1. All in all, it was an acceptable result, even if the Bielefelders had more of the game.
Stefanos Kapino will not be available on Sunday due to illness. Patrick Wimmer will also be absent after receiving his fifth yellow card. Alessandro Schöpf could be used in attacking midfield. Andres Andrade is still a question mark. Should the defender not be able to play, Nathan de Medina, George Bello or Jacob Laursen would be the alternatives.
Predicted line-up of Bielefeld:
Ortega Moreno – Brunner, Pieper, Nilsson, Andrade – Kunze, Vasiliadis – Okugawa, Schöpf, Krüger – Serra – Coach: Kramer
Last matches played by Bielefeld:
1st Bundesliga
02/05 2022 – Arminia Bielefeld 1 – 1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
01/21 2022 – Eintracht Frankfurt 0 – 2 Arminia Bielefeld
01/16 2022 – Arminia Bielefeld 2 – 2 Greuther Fürth
01/08 2022 – SC Freiburg 2 – 2 Arminia Bielefeld
12/18 2021 – RB Leipzig 0 – 2 Arminia Bielefeld
Hoffenheim – Bielefeld Direct comparison / H2H balance
In fact, TSG Hoffenheim and Arminia Bielefeld have only faced each other five times so far. All of these matches took place in the Bundesliga. So far, the East Westphalians have never won against the Kraichgauer. Three games ended with a TSG victory, twice they parted with a draw. Therefore, one should not necessarily expect an away win on Sunday.
The first leg was a rather tired game. In Bielefeld, the two opponents parted with a goalless draw. At least in terms of goals, we expect a bit more in this second leg.
Hoffenheim – Bielefeld Tip
If TSG Hoffenheim still want to get into the race for the international places, then they absolutely have to end the losing streak. Four defeats in a row are not good references for winning on Sunday. A defeat or even a draw against Bielefeld would put the Kraichgauer even further behind.
A win is the only alternative for the home side, but Arminia are a team that will not be sent home with a defeat. Frank Kramer’s side are unbeaten for three away games and six games in total.
We assess this match a little differently, however, and are surprised, given the form curve of both teams, that Arminia are seen as such clear underdogs. We can even imagine an away win, but in the end decided to play the double chance X2 betting odds between Hoffenheim and Bielefeld.
