Do the 49ers exacerbate the Seahawks crisis?
It’s set Sunday night, either for the Seahawks’ swan song or their revival. At 3-8, though, they’ll need a minor miracle to still make the postseason.
The first and most important step towards that goal comes on Sunday against the 49ers, one of their fiercest rivals. San Francisco currently occupy one of the coveted spots and could further consolidate it with an away win in Seattle.
If we put all the evidence together, this option is also the much more likely one, after all, the Niners won their last three games, whereas the Seahawks lost all their last three games.
Therefore, our prediction for Seahawks vs. 49ers is not a surprising one and we predict a Niners win. In addition, we expect some total points, so the success should also come higher than just a field goal.
Kickoff for this Sunday night NFL Week 13 game is 10:25 p.m. Sunday in Seattle and the game will be broadcast live on ProSieben Maxx and by DAZN.
Seattle Seahawks – Statistics & current form
The last time we had the Seahawks on the programme, they were 3-5. Currently, they are 3-8, which shows that their development has gone completely in the wrong direction since then – and that despite Russell Wilson being back on board.
But even the star quarterback has not been able to change the downward trend. On the contrary, he has mercilessly joined his teammates in their underperformance. Especially offensively, virtually nothing is going right.
Offense is in a massive slump
If we just look at the last three games, Seattle’s main problem becomes obvious. They’re not scoring anymore. They averaged a mere 9.3 points in those three games. Even the weak Lions and Texans scored twelve and 17 points respectively more than Seattle.
So the big question is how they are going to get their offence going again. Speaking of running: That’s exactly what would end up being the easiest solution with a banged-up quarterback, but their running game is beyond subpar.
Seattle lacks a good running back
They managed just 34 rushing yards Monday against Washington, which is a season negative record. If we then subtract Wilson’s 16 rushing yards, we’re left with just 18 yards. That doesn’t speak well for the two running backs Collins and Dallas. Maybe veteran Peterson, who was signed a few days ago, will help.
However, the two are only the tip of the weak offence, which simply operates without a clear plan, for which Head Coach Pete Carroll is not innocent. There are more and more voices predicting a change in the head coach position after this year.
Be that as it may, the Seahawks will not be able to win anything against San Francisco with this offence, which is why we clearly favour a tip on the away team for 49ers against Seahawks. Even a few points in handicap are still possible.
Key Players:
QB: Russell Wilson
RB: Alex Collins
WR: Tyler Lockett
WR: DK Metcalf
K: Jason Myers
San Francisco 49ers – stats & current form
The San Francisco 49ers are currently taking the exact opposite path of the Seahawks. They have gone from a meagre 3:5 record to 6:5 victories within three weeks and thus even a playoff spot.
Among others, they beat such strong teams as the Los Angeles Rams and the Minnesota Vikings. Just as contrasting as their form is their strength in the running game. If the Hawks fail all along the line, the Niners will look more than just decent.
Running game as door opener
206 yards were on the score sheet against the Vikings and also the week before against Jacksonville they had a strong 171 rushing yards. They have now also worked their way up into the top 6 rushing teams in the NFL.
This also helps quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo a lot, because he is no longer under so much pressure. As a result, his numbers are also rising significantly and he has been able to break the 100-point mark in passer rating four times in the last five games.
Against the Rams in week 10 he even reached a rating of 141.7 – an absolute top value. In addition, he threw only two interceptions in these five games, which is completely justifiable. His form curve, just like that of his team, is pointing upwards.
High or low scoring game expected?
What’s a little more unclear than San Francisco’s favourite status is the question of total points. Seattle is currently barely scoring. Accordingly, a low-scoring game would be expected. However, the history between these two teams often shows high scoring games.
We would therefore not put this betting option at the top of our list and focus on the odds on an away win in Seattle vs. San Francisco. A 49ers/49ers first and second half bet would also be worth considering.
Key Players:
QB: Jimmy Garoppolo
RB: Eli Mitchell
WR: Deebo Samuel
TE: George Kittle
K: Robbie Gould
Seattle Seahawks – San Francisco 49ers Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
We’ve already alluded to the high scoring games most recently between these two teams. In numbers, this means at least 47 points in all of the last seven duels. However, the Hawks’ offensive struggle could put a spanner in the works of this series.
The same applies to Seattle’s strong series against their Bay Area rivals. The Seahawks have won eight of the last ten duels, the last three of them in a row.
Nevertheless, betting on the Hawks is almost a no-go at the moment. Therefore, the odds on San Francisco -3 are our clear betting recommendation for 49ers against Seahawks. The average win margin of the Niners on the last three matchdays was 16.3 points.
Seattle Seahawks – San Francisco 49ers Tip
The 49ers are considered the favourites, all betting providers agree on that. However, the three-point average is a little surprising. The Seahawks are actually expected to go toe-to-toe with a top team.
We do not entirely agree with this opinion, which is why a bet at good odds on the 49ers -3 seems more promising for San Francisco vs. Seattle. For even better value, these odds could even be combined with over-points.
As an alternative, we can also recommend a touchdown from Deeboo Samuel. He is currently on fire and found the end zone five times in the last three games, which also puts him at the top of the 49ers ranking.
