Next setback for Saudi club Newcastle?

The Magpies from Newcastle could not have started the new season any worse. After six matchdays, the newly rich Saudi club still occupies last place in the English top flight and is heading for the Championship. This is certainly not how Newcastle supporters imagined the season would go after the Saudi takeover.

Steve Bruce, former manager of the Magpies, announced his resignation after the ongoing crisis of form. Newcastle United introduced Eddie Howe as his successor just under three weeks ago. The 43-year-old is not only expected to lead the team to a relegation place, but also has a contract until 2024. Accordingly, those responsible at Newcastle – in the event of a relegation place – are planning long-term with Howe.

Last week Eddie Howe was quarantined for the time being after testing positive and was replaced by assistant coach Jason Tindall. This weekend Howe is targeting his coaching debut in London as he faces the Gunners.

For an away coup for the Magpies, odds of 7.00 are currently being offered on Arsenal vs Newcastle. Because the Londoners have made a strong start to the season so far, we tend to rule out a win for the visitors from Newcastle. After all, Newcastle United only managed a point against promoted Brentford last week despite home advantage.

Arsenal – Statistics & current form

The Gunners won’t be able to complain about the way the season has gone so far. Compared to the previous two seasons, it is after all the best start to the season since 2018/19. Nevertheless, the four defeats in the first twelve matchdays cannot be glossed over. In particular, the most recent defeat against Liverpool FC was a bitter setback.

After all, it increased the gap between Arsenal and leaders and city rivals Chelsea FC. Arsenal London are currently separated from the Blues by a total of nine points, meaning that the Gunners are only major outsiders in this year’s Premier League championship race.

A week after the defeat against LFC, Arsenal have a must-win task on their agenda. Against their favourite opponents from the north-east of England, the Gunners have won 16 of their last 17 league games and will therefore go into Saturday’s match with a broad chest.

Will the next win be against the Magpies?

The Londoners have won nine straight at the Emirates Stadium against the Magpies. Arsenal have not conceded a goal in their last five home games against Newcastle. This includes last season’s match in which the Gunners scored a total of three goals against Newcastle (3:0).

The recent home record against the Premier League’s bottom teams is also encouraging. Arsenal have won eight in a row at home against teams who were bottom of the English top flight on that matchday. If the streak continues, odds of 1.49  will be paid out on Arsenal vs Newcastle for a bet on the Londoners.

The Gunners have won six and drawn one of their last seven competitive games at the Emirates. Head coach Mikel Arteta will only have to continue without Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac for Saturday’s game against the Magpies due to injury. There are no other absentees for the London hosts.

Predicted Arsenal line-up:

Newcastle – Statistics & current form

Newcastle United are currently among the hottest relegation candidates in the Premier League. Twelve matchdays into the season, the Magpies are in last place and still haven’t recorded a single win. As expected, former manager Steve Bruce was given a send-off.

Since the first week of November, Eddie Howe has been at the helm of the stumbling Saudi club. So far, the 43-year-old has stayed away from his team and is still in quarantine. It is still unclear when Eddie Howe will officially make his debut. There is a big question mark over Howe’s comeback this weekend.

For the time being, therefore, the team will be led by Jason Tindall. Last week, under the Magpies’ co-coach, a point was shared against Brentford FC. For long stretches it was a match of equals between Newcastle and the promoted side from West London. Nonetheless, the draw was fair for both clubs.

Will Newcastle go down again in London?

It was the third draw at home for the Magpies, with the Saudi club having lost three other home games. Newcastle also have a record of 0-3-3 away from home. Most recently, the bottom club in the Premier League remained unbeaten on foreign soil twice in a row.

Neither against Crystal Palace nor against Brighton did the Magpies lose. Betting fans who want to bet on the Saudi club winning another point on foreign soil can pick up odds in the region of 2.00 on Arsenal vs Newcastle.

The Gunners’ abysmal away record and Howe’s poor record against Arsenal, among other things, argue against this. The new manager of the Magpies has so far scored only five points out of a possible 30 against the Londoners. It is quite possible that the negative trend will continue on Saturday.

Predicted Newcastle line-up:
Dubravka – Krafth, Lascelles, Clark – Murphy, Willock, Hayden, Ritchie – Joelinton, Wilson, Saint-Maximin

Last matches played by Newcastle:

Premier League
11/20 2021 – Newcastle United 3 – 3 Brentford

11/06 2021 – Brighton 1 – 1 Newcastle United

10/30 2021 – Newcastle United 0 – 3 Chelsea London

10/23 2021 – Crystal Palace 1 – 1 Newcastle United

10/17 2021 –  Newcastle United 2 – 3 Tottenham

Arsenal – Newcastle Direct Comparison / H2H Record

This is the 188th time Arsenal and Newcastle have met across competitions. Arsenal London lead the head-to-head comparison against the Magpies with a record of 82-38-67. On average, 2.81 goals per game have been scored in the games between the two clubs. It is quite possible that a forecast for a high-scoring encounter between Arsenal vs Newcastle this weekend will also come true.

After all, the visitors have the weakest defence in the league with 27 goals conceded in twelve matchdays. Newcastle have not won any of their last seven games against the Gunners. Across competitions, the Magpies have scored just once against the Londoners this second-half

Arsenal – Newcastle betting tips

The Gunners are out to make amends after their defeat against Liverpool FC. The home game against Newcastle United comes in handy for the Londoners. After all, they have won nine home games in a row against the bottom team in the Premier League. Moreover, Arsenal are brimming with self-confidence thanks to their recent record at the Emirates.

The Gunners have not lost any of their last seven home games this season. In fact, the Londoners have recently won three home games in a row. Newcastle United, on the other hand, are still in free fall after the change of coach and have yet to record a single win in the English top flight.

In addition, it is still not clear whether Eddie Howe will make his debut against the Gunners from London on Saturday. We therefore think a home win for the Londoners is obvious and dare to bet on “HT/FT: 1/1” with a stake of six units. For Arsenal vs Newcastle, betting odds of 2.25 on this half-time/stand-off bet are available at Bet365.
