Will the FCB once again beat the competition?
Nearly a third of the 2021/22 season has been completed and Bayern are once again ahead in the Bundesliga. With a four-point lead over Borussia Dortmund already, that will remain the case for at least another week, regardless of the outcome of the Reds’ away game at FC Augsburg, which opens Matchday 12 on Friday night.
One of the big surprises of the 2021/22 season, meanwhile, is SC Freiburg, who have picked up 22 points from their first eleven games and currently sit third behind Bayern and Dortmund. The Black Forest side will host Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday and will be looking to continue their strong run. The much more explosive match, however, takes place the night before when Union Berlin hosts city rivals Hertha BSC in the capital city derby.
After all the internationals have returned to their clubs, the 12th matchday of the top flight of German football once again offers nine interesting encounters, all of which are worth discussing in detail. Consequently, betting odds and tips are available on this page for all nine matches scheduled for matchday 12 in the Bundesliga.
In the Bundesliga betting tips section, meanwhile, you can find, as usual, in-depth analyses along with form checks and daily updates on all nine individual matches of matchday 12 in Germany’s top division.
Augsburg vs. Bayern – 19 November, 20:30
Augsburg have never really had much to gain in the Bavarian duel. In the Bundesliga, FCA won only two of the 20 duels with the Reds (two draws, 16 defeats). A correspondingly difficult match lies ahead for the Fuggerstädtern, who go into their home game with very little momentum. Only two of their eleven league games have been won, with the Bavarian Swabians having already failed to score five times of their own.
On the other hand, FC Bayern are in good form and did not let the surprising 5-0 defeat in the DFB Pokal throw them off course. They recently defeated two Bundesliga teams that are difficult to beat, Union Berlin and Freiburg. The 40 goals scored in eleven league games stand out. Accordingly, betting tips on a high-scoring Bavarian duel in the Bundesliga on matchday 12 are interesting. We recommend betting on more than 3.5 goals.
Dortmund vs. VfB Stuttgart – 20 November, 15:30
In the last Bundesliga home match to date against VfB Stuttgart, BVB suffered an absolute debacle in a 1:5 defeat. It was only the fourth time ever in the long history of the Bundesliga that five goals were conceded in front of a home crowd. Accordingly, the Black and Yellows have set their sights high for this match, even if it is also a matter of extending their recent home streak. The last ten Bundesliga home games have all been won.
It is true that the Borussians are still missing life insurance Erling Haaland, which also contributed to their third defeat in league play in the recent 2-1 loss at RB Leipzig. Nevertheless, BVB will go into this home match against the Swabians in second place in the table, who have not won any of their last five competitive matches and have even lost their last three games in a row.
We therefore recommend betting on a home win for the Black and Yellows in the Bundesliga on matchday 12, which can be played as a half-time final score bet to increase the odds.
Leverkusen vs. Bochum- 20 November, 15:30
Bayer Leverkusen have shone so far in the Europa League, where they also dispatched Betis Sevilla 4-0 just before the international break. In the Bundesliga, however, the Werkself is only in sixth place. Most recently, two consecutive home games were lost by a total of 1:7 goals. Bayer is winless in four league games (two draws, two defeats).
VfL Bochum, who have won 17 of their 26 Bundesliga home games, are a kind of favourite opponent at the BayArena. However, the promoted team is in good form. VfL have won three of their last four league games without conceding a goal. The momentum is clearly with Thomas Reis’ team.
In the Bundesliga on matchday 12, the forecasts are likely to lean towards the home side. In view of the fact that Leverkusen have only won one of their last seven games (three draws, three defeats), while Bochum have won four of their last five games, you could definitely risk a double chance X2 as an underdog bet.
Gladbach vs. Fürth- November 20, 15:30
As before, SpVgg Greuther Fürth just don’t want to arrive in the Bundesliga. The Central Franconians are the only first division team that has yet to win a single game. With only one point out of a possible 33, the cloverleaf is now in the red. They are already eight points behind the bottom of the league.
Borussia Mönchengladbach, in ninth place in the table, is by no means in top form. However, the Foals just knocked FC Bayern out of the cup with 5:0 at home and took the momentum into the last two league games, from which they picked up four of a possible six points. In addition, they have a strong record against Fürth, against whom they have not lost a single one of their ten competitive matches (eight wins, two draws).
In the Bundesliga, there are clear betting odds available for this clash on matchday 12, which is why the big question is really only how to get the greatest value in the bet on the expected Gladbach home win. Our decision falls on a victory with at least two goals difference, for which we use the Asian handicap of -1.5.
Hoffenheim vs. RB Leipzig – 20 November, 15:30
This clash between two distinctly successful upstarts of German football, which was given the disparaging nickname “El Plastico” when it was first staged in August 2016, has mostly been in the hands of RB Leipzig. The Sinsheim side have only won two of their eleven competitive matches against the red bulls. In the Bundesliga, TSG’s win percentage is only worse against Bayern (15%) than against RBL (20%).
The Saxons, however, not only bring a good record against Hoffenheim, but also plenty of momentum. Jesse Marsch’s eleven just beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 to remain unbeaten in their seventh league game in a row (four wins, three draws). Only the away record of the red bulls leaves much to be desired. They haven’t won a match away from home in eight league games this season.
Against this background, we see the greatest value in this duel in the goal bet. Considering that RBL arrive with the second-best defence in the Bundesliga (eleven goals conceded from eleven games), it makes the most sense to bet on under 3.5 goals.
Bielefeld vs. Wolfsburg – 20 November, 15:30
While Arminia Bielefeld have won just one game in their complicated second year in the Bundesliga and sit 17th with eight points from eleven league games, VfL Wolfsburg are doing quite well overall. Since the sacking of Mark van Bommel, the Lower Saxons have won three competitive games in a row. They are currently in fourth place in the Bundesliga and are on course for another Champions League title.
Although Wolfsburg’s offensive has clear potential for improvement (only twelve goals in eleven league games). At least defensively, however, the VfL is excellent with only twelve goals conceded, which means that in principle little should go wrong at the Alm. After all, with only seven goals scored, Arminia is the weakest offensive team in the Bundesliga.
In the Bundesliga on matchday 12, bets on a low-scoring game are just as possible as a direct bet on an away win for the Wolves, in which we see the slightly greater value on balance.
Union Berlin vs. Hertha – 20 November, 18:30
In recent years, Hertha BSC has invested heavily to force the return of international football to the Olympiastadion. That is indeed the case at the moment. However, this is only because city rivals Union Berlin are not allowed to play their Conference League home games at the stadium An der Alten Försterei and have to move to the stadium of the old lady.
This is an affront to the Hertha team, who have set their sights high for the derby in the capital. Most recently, the Eisernen remained winless against their city rivals in three consecutive league games, but they can put their enormous home strength on the line. Although the last home game against FC Bayern ended in a 2:5 defeat, the team from Köpenick had previously remained unbeaten in 21 consecutive league home games.
Nevertheless, Union has in fact won only one of its last six competitive matches – a 3:1 victory after extra time in the cup at third-division side Waldhof Mannheim. Strength of form truly looks different, which is why we use betting odds for goals on both sides in the Bundesliga on matchday 12. After all, Hertha BSC have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last 14 league away games.
Freiburg vs. Frankfurt – 21 November, 15:30
For the most part, Eintracht Frankfurt have held the role of surprise team at this point in the season. The Eagles have been in the top four time and again in the last few rounds, but did not get off to a good start this year. Only two of the eleven league games were won. With six draws already, the SGE is only in 14th place.
Meanwhile, Sport-Club has become the team of the moment. The Black Forest side remained unbeaten for ten matchdays before losing 2-1 at FC Bayern in the last game before the international break. It will be all the more interesting to see whether Christian Streich’s team, which still holds third place, can shake off this first setback and continue their recent winning streak.
However, the fact that Frankfurt is considered a stumbling block for the top teams is explosive. The SGE has not lost a single one of the last seven league games against a team that was in the top three at the time of the match (four wins, three draws). Due to the difficulty of thus identifying a favourite, the odds most recommended in the Bundesliga on matchday 12 are to bet on over 2.5 goals in this match.
Mainz vs. Cologne – 21 November, 17:30
Seventh in the table, 1. FSV Mainz 05 can be very satisfied with the way the season has gone so far, although the short season has already been marked by several ups and downs. A strong start was followed by three defeats in a row, before seven out of a possible nine points were picked up in the last three league games.
Now Cologne, one of our favourite opponents, is coming to the Bruchweg. The Rheinhessen side have won seven of their last ten Bundesliga home games against the Geißböcke. The fact that the cathedral cities are still waiting for their first three points of the 2021/22 season away from home (two draws, three defeats) makes this away game with in-form Mainz all the more difficult for the “Effzeh”.
Accordingly, in the Bundesliga on matchday 12, betting on a home win for the Nullfünfer is good play.
