Will Chile get their fourth win in a row?
Late but surely Chile last really got going in the 2021 calendar year. After making a small run in the autumn with three wins in a row, participation in the world’s biggest football tournament is now very realistic.
If they can pick up three points against Ecuador on Wednesday night, they could soon be third in the table. The fact that the opponents are not exactly known for being away from home makes things a little easier. Nevertheless, the hosts cannot afford to sit back and relax.
The visitors, on the other hand, have played an outstanding qualifying campaign so far and, as third in the table, are clearly on course for qualification at the moment. However, they were not very dangerous on foreign soil in 2021, which is why the bookmakers’ odds for Chile vs. Ecuador rightly point to an advantage for the home team.
The bottom line is that this will be a close match, as both sides have conceded few goals recently. A tactical exchange of blows is therefore inevitable.
Chile – Statistics & current form
The two-time Copa America winners had to wait 10 months in the current calendar year until they finally recorded their first win in the World Cup qualifiers. As a result, they have already slipped a little in the standings, but they have finally managed to limit the damage with three wins in a row.
Their performances at the Copa in the summer were also rather modest, but now it seems that they have finally managed to turn things around. Does this mean it’s a good idea to bet on Chile vs. Ecuador? We say “yes”!
Since three games without conceding a goal
The defence in particular is doing a great job at the moment. Already at the beginning of the year, the number of goals conceded was actually always within limits, but at the moment Bravo and Co. are absolutely not letting anything go to waste. They never conceded more than one goal at home in 2021 anyway.
But what about the attack? Recently, Sanchez and Konsortien have been doing well. It won’t be easy against the upcoming opponents, though, because Ecuador also have their qualities in defence. But since they have only failed to score once at home in the current qualifying campaign, the hosts can be optimistic.
WM fixed ticket within reach
With a win, “La Roja” would move to within one point of third place, with the top four qualifying directly for the finals. A win would also be important, especially as they face Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay in a tough remaining schedule next year.
In addition, the hosts have an outstanding home record in direct duels. In 11 qualifying encounters on Chilean soil, they have never lost and have won nine matches. From our point of view, therefore, a prediction for Chile vs. Ecuador on the home side cannot be dismissed out of hand.
Predicted line-up of Chile:
Bravo – Medel, Maripan, Roco – Nunez, Vidal, Valdes, Baeza, Mena – Bereton, Sanchez

Ecuador – Statistics & current form
While they failed to pick up a single win in five games at last summer’s Copa America, they fared all the better in qualifying for next year’s World Cup.
The last time “La Tri” were in Brazil was in 2014, and they could do it again in 2022. However, they still need to pick up a few points in the remaining five games. However, the bookmakers see the visitors in the clear underdog role in the Chile versus Ecuador clash. Rightly so?
Mostly not dangerous away from home
The number 55 in the FIFA world rankings is primarily known as extremely strong at home. On foreign soil, their performances are almost always much worse. It is therefore not surprising that the two fourth-place finishes at the Copa were also both achieved at the tournament on home soil.
The bottom line is that Ecuador 2021 has not yet recorded a single win away from home in the World Cup qualifiers. Only one away goal in their last four away games also shows that the “tricolours” will face a very difficult challenge on Tuesday evening. We expect the visitors to come away empty-handed, not least because of their opponents’ strong defence.
Defence as a glimmer of hope
If nothing goes in front, then at least the defence should perform. In fact, the most likely scenario of a point win for the third-placed team in the table seems to us to be that it saves a 0-0 over time. After all, they have conceded only three goals in their past seven qualifying matches.
However, the last time the upcoming opponents in the World Cup qualifiers kept a clean sheet was in 2005, which is why, from our point of view, a tip against the visitors seems logical. Further profits can be made with the help of our list of current sports betting bonus offers.

Chile – Ecuador Direct comparison / H2H balance
To date, the two nations have faced each other 52 times. While Chile have already recorded 29 victories, Ecuador have only managed 10 full victories. What’s more, the Chileans have not lost a single one of their 25 home matches. The home side therefore hold all the aces.
Chile – Ecuador tip
Will the Chileans get their fourth win in a row on Tuesday? The chances are not bad, because the opponent is known as relatively weak away from home. Vidal and Co. have been getting better and better lately. If they succeed, the two-time Copa winners would be just one point behind third place in the table.
For Chile against Ecuador, the betting odds on the home side are around 1.80. In our view, this is a good value for a bet, especially as a home win is very likely. A look at the home record in the direct duel alone supports this statement.
The battle for the World Cup starting places in South America promises plenty of excitement in any case.
