Niko Kovac’s team beat the dress rehearsal last Friday and lost to FC Lorient. The goal of the day was scored by Moffi after just over half an hour. This means that the start of the season in Ligue 1 was unsuccessful. On the first day of the game last week, they couldn’t get past 1-1 at home against FC Nantes and are now stuck at the bottom of the league table. Last season the ASM finished in third place, behind Paris Saint Germain and the new French champion Lille OSC.
The Kovac team lost only one game in the last ten league games of last season (seven wins, two draws). Monaco is currently still a long way from this form. Most recently, the club played in the Champions League in the 18/19 season. Three years ago, however, in the group phase with Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and FC Bruges, they remained without a win and were eliminated with only one point.
Last season Wissam Ben Yedder (20 goals) and Kevin Volland (16) were the most dangerous scorers of the Monegassen, scoring 36 of the 76 goals of the season. Only Paris Saint Germain and Olympique Lyon were even more dangerous in Ligue 1.
Jean Marcelin and Aleksandr Golovin are absent due to injury against Donetsk on Tuesday.

The Hirnyky also had to finish last Friday and won in the home game against Metalist 1925 Kharkiv with 2:0. Stepanenko (49th) and Traore (80th) scored the goals against the climber after the break. The Ukrainian league (vBet Liha) already completed its fourth game day on the weekend and is thus significantly further than the Ligue 1. Donetsk currently ranks third with nine points.
The team led by Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi (in office since 25.05.21) had a good start to the season and has won three of the four league games. The first defeat was against FC Oleksandriya (1:2) on the 3rd day of the match. In the new season there was only one away game, which was won by PFK Lviv with 3-0 on the 2nd day. In contrast to AS Monaco, Schachtjor was represented in the European Cup in recent years and also played in the previous season in the premier league. There, the Ukrainians even beat Real Madrid twice and remained undefeated against Inter Milan (0-0 twice). Only against the German representative Borussia Mönchengladbach there were two claps in both meetings (0:4 and 0:6). It continued as a group third in the Europa League intermediate round. The final was then held one lap later in the round of 16 against AS Rome.
The top three scorers last season were Manor Solomon (9 hits), Tete (7 hits) and Aluiso Moraes (6 hits).
The 13-time champion from Ukraine has to give up Junior Moraes, Valeriy Bondar and Pedrinho in Monaco due to injuries.

We see the AS Monaco in the home stadium Louis II against Shachtjor Donetsk in the favourites role. On paper, the French are in a better position, but in the new season they got off to a worse start. While the Hirnyky won three of the four games in the vBet league, the Monegassen are still waiting for their first threesome in the new season.
However, the Kovac team has only played two games in Ligue 1. In any case, both teams have what it takes for the Champions League group phase and for the ASM it would be a confirmation of the strong last season even after three years of abstinence from the European Cup. The De Zerbi-Elf is a regular in the premier league and was last only in the Europa League in the 16/17 season. Due to the home advantage for Monaco, we are guessing a victory for the Monegasques with goals on both sides.
