As the reigning Austrian champions, Salzburg have started straight into the play-offs of the Champions League, thus completing their first match in the competition. Seven times the Mozartstädter won the championship in a row and are again this season as clear favorites for the title. But now it’s time to focus on the Champions League Play Offs.
In so far as the odds are believed, it is to be expected that the team of coach Matthias Jaissle is set as a clear favorite on the qualification for the group phase. A clear victory in the first leg against a domestic backdrop would clearly underpin this role.
Matthias Jaissle has been in charge of the Red Bulls since the first of July. He replaces success coach Jesse Marsch, who moved to Leipzig. Its national track record so far is very good. All four league duels should be won. The first matchday saw a clear 3-1 victory at Sturm Graz. Afterwards, Ried was swept off the field with 7:1. Finally, Austria and Admira Wacker were to be defeated 1-0. With 12 points captured, Salzburg is at the top of the table. The gap to Sturm Graz, second in the table, measures three points.
During the summer break, 13.5 million euros were invested in new players. Piatkowsiki came from Rakov for five million euros to strengthen the central defense. Nicolas Capaldo and Roko Simic were also signed for 4.5 and 4 million euros. Patson Daka (Leicester City) and Enock Mwepu have left the club. Daka in particular attracted attention last season with 28 goals. Replacing this finish is by no means easy.

The odds show that Bröndby acted as a clear outsider and will therefore not have an easy position against Salzburg.
In the Danish Superliga, the reigning champion is currently showing great problems and stands on the account without a win after five days of play. With a total of three draws and two defeats, only three lean points were scored on the last five matchdays. Last weekend’s dress rehearsal went bad. A narrow 0-1 defeat against Nordsjaelland had to be accepted in front of home scenery. The previous matchday was lost 2-4 against Copenhagen. The three previously contested matchdays brought three draws with them. The gap to the front-runner den Randers now measures 10 points.
The resources at Bröndby are limited. For this reason, two million euros have been invested in new players. These were given to Mathias Greve (offensive midfield), Kevin Tshiembe (centre-back), Christian Cappis (central midfield) and Rasmus Wikström (centre-back). Lindström, on the other hand, left the club for the Bundesliga (Frankfurt) for seven million euros.
