Como proved too strong for Sassuolo. In the first 41 minutes, Fabregas’ team dominated the game and scored three goals, earning themselves a December match against Fiorentina at the Franchi stadium. This is the very same stadium where the Lombards won a comeback victory (1-2) in the last round of the championship. Como proved too strong for a very weak Sassuolo side, which was also condemned by its own mistakes in the 41st minute, evident in both the first and third goals. The deadlock was broken after just 90 seconds with the first goal from Jesus Rodriguez, followed by a header from Douvikas in the 25th minute and a third goal from Jesus Rodriguez in the 41st minute.

Como proved too strong for Sassuolo. In the first 41 minutes, Fabregas’ team dominated the game and scored three goals, setting up a December clash with Fiorentina at the Franchi. This is the very same ground where the Lombardy side came from behind to win (1-2) in the last round of the championship. Como proved too strong for a weak Sassuolo side, which was also condemned by its own mistakes in the 41st minute, evident in both the first and third goals. After just 90 seconds, the deadlock was broken with the first goal from Jesus Rodriguez, followed by a header from Douvikas in the 25th minute and a third goal from Jesus Rodriguez in the 41st minute.

First half—  Ninety seconds into the game, the Lombards took the lead. Fabregas’ team pressed high up the pitch, the ball reached Douvikas who, from a tight angle, passed to the onrushing Jesus Rodriguez, who slotted home with his right foot. It was a lively start to the game. Turati prevented Da Cunha from doubling the lead with a slightly deflected shot. At the other end, Volpato grazed the post with a free kick from the edge of the box. Como then resumed their pressing and play. The rewards were not long in coming. First, Turati denied Posh, who was served in the area by Caqueret, then (25′) Baturina painted a cross from the three-quarter line, and Douvikas headed it where the Sassuolo goalkeeper couldn’t reach it: 2-0. On the right side, Como, with the Addai-Posh combination, was a pleasure to watch. But it was from the left that the third goal came in the 41st minute: Sassuolo lost the ball on the break, Caqueret played a through ball to Jesus Rodriguez, who controlled it with his left foot and slotted it home with his right, completing his brace. This effectively ended any slim chance of a comeback for the opponents. In stoppage time, Da Cunha tried his luck from midfield, but Turati was not caught off guard.

Second half—  Fabregas made three changes after the break. The goalscorers and Posh came off, with Morata, Kuhn, and Vojvoda coming on. The pattern of the game did not change. Sassuolo tried, but they were always exposed to the quality of their opponents, who had a shot on goal through Baturina. Turati fails to hold on to the ball, Morata pounces and wins a penalty. But it is all in vain due to the Spaniard’s offside position. After a quarter of an hour in which Como pass the ball around and run down the clock, Volpato makes a run down the right and Boloca forces Butez into a save. Around the 70th minute, Grosso also makes changes, bringing on four players. Fadera, Cheddira, Volpato, and Pieragnolo came off, with Moro, Thorstvedt, Pierini, and Walukiewicz coming on. In the final minutes, there was also time for debutants Bonsignori and Cerri for the home side and Skjellerup for Sassuolo. But nothing else happened in a match that effectively lasted 41 minutes.
