Do the Packers also turn it up in San Francisco?
Aaron Rodgers needed a real wake-up call once this season and he got one. On Game Day 1, he and his Packers were really shaken up by the Panthers, but that full wash doesn’t seem to have been the worst thing for Green Bay.
Rodgers was back to his old self against Detroit last week, posting a passer rating of 145.6. That gives us good reason to expect a lot in the coming weeks. But first it’s off to the strong 49ers, one of seven undefeated teams still in the tournament.
The 49ers are not quite within reach yet this season. They alternated light and shade against both the Lions and Eagles, and on Sunday in Philadelphia, they were very fortunate that a Philly TD was recovered early.
Otherwise it would have been 0:10 very quickly and whether they would have come out of the game with a win is questionable. Therefore, with 49ers vs. Packers, our prediction is also another show of power Green Bays, which should make them forget their poor start to the season.
Kickoff of the Sunday not Game from Week 3 is on Monday night at 02:20. The game can be watched live with German commentary on DAZN.
United States San Francisco 49ers – Statistics & current form
The 49ers have had a great start to the season, but they also had to in this NFC West. Had the Seahawks not given up a big lead against the Titans on the final day of play, all teams in this division would have started with 2-0 victories.
But not everything that shone in the 49ers’ game was gold. If it was the defence that weakened in the first game, it was the offence that did so in the second. The game against Green Bay will now be the first yardstick against one of the top 10 teams in the league.
Garoppolo more stable than in preseason
But first, let’s get to the positives in the Niners game. Jimmy Garoppolo feels the breath of Trey Lance on his neck and it seems to be fueling him. If he threw a full five interceptions in six starts in 2020, he’s still flawless on the road in 2021.
With a passer rating averaging 111.4, he has also improved that statistic by almost 20 points. That has led to him being on the field for almost all of the snaps so far, leaving Lance to take a backseat for now.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel also stands out positively so far. With a total of 282 yards, Samuel is in a great third place among all wide receivers. His four big plays for more than 20 yards each also speak for him.
Does the defence even keep two games in a row
With that, however, to the 49ers’ minor problem areas. 44 conceded points in two games sounds good at first, but when you consider that the opponents were the Lions and the Eagles, those numbers suddenly don’t seem so good anymore.
We expect them to have to swallow over 25 points against the Packers’ top offence, which makes a win less likely. With San Francisco vs. Green Bay, the odds against SF are thus the slightly more promising betting option.
Key Players:
QB: Jimmy Garoppolo
– RB: Elijah Mitchell
– WR: Deebo Samuel
– TE: George Kittle
– K: Robbie Gould
United States Green Bay Packers – Statistics & Current form
The Packers are back and one up front: Aaron Rodgers. After his disastrous start against the Panthers, he showed an MVP performance again on game day 2 and put up a passer rating of 145.6 – an absolute top value.
Thus Green Bay also beat Detroit with a difference of 18 points. In comparison, the 49ers’ lead against the same team was only eight points. This already shows that the Packers are not necessarily to be rated weaker than San Francisco.
Aaron Jones as go-to guy
Aaron Jones has also finally arrived this season. A rushing as well as three receiving touchdowns on Monday show that another player besides Rodgers was looking to make up for his Game Day 1 performance.
With nine rushing yards, the No. 1 running back also fell far short of expectations. With Jones in top form and Davante Adams looking to finally score his first touchdown of the season, we’re expecting another offensive barrage from the Packers.
Which defence will get more access?
Still, of course, the Packers’ numbers look worse than the 49ers’, especially defensively. However, we’d consider the game against the Saints a blip here. Against the Lions, their defence was as strong as ever from half-time 2 onwards.
We see the duel of the defensive lines as one of the sticking points for Sunday night Since it seems to come down to a 50:50 duel, a bet on Green Bay is the more attractive option in terms of odds and also our recommendation.
Key Players:
QB: Aaron Rodgers
– RB: Aaron Jones
– WR: Davante Adams
– TE: Robert Tonyan
– K: Mason Crosby
San Francisco 49ers – Green Bay Packers Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
There have been six head-to-head duels between these two teams in the last seven years, split fraternally. However, the last head-to-head meeting went to Green Bayquite clearly last year, 34-17.
That, too, took place in San Francisco and we believe it could be very similar this season – though not with such clarity. But with an Aaron Rodgers in ascending form, Green Bay once again have an excellent chance of an away win.
Moreover, betting against Rodgers with anger in the belly has always been a bad option. That’s why for 49ers vs Packers, odds on him and his Cheeseheads are our No.1 bet of choice. However, a combination with over points is also possible, as we expect a high scoring game.
United States San Francisco 49ers – Green Bay Packers United States Tip
The 49ers have started the season better and easily lead the stat comparison both offensively and defensively. Still, we’re going with an upset of the Packers in San Francisco. Why?
Because they have Aaron Rodgers, who showed he’s far from old news against Detroit with four touchdowns and no interceptions. So our prediction for Niners vs. Packers is an away win, which would put both teams at 2-1 wins
