Will Galatasaray win at the stumbling Young Boys?
Champions among themselves: Two champions, Young Boys from Bern and Galatasaray Istanbul, meet in the play-offs of the CL qualifiers. Although the Swiss will benefit from home advantage, the best bookmakers see the Turkish visitors as the favorites. Our Young Boys vs Galatasaray betting tip is also aimed at “Cimbom”
In contrast to the stumbling Young Boys, who have won just one of their six competitive games so far, Galatasaray have already won two of their three matches this season. In the league, the Turkish record champions have made the perfect start to the season with six points on the first two matchdays
Last weekend, Galatasaray boosted their confidence ahead of the play-offs in the CL qualifiers with a 2:1 win in Konya. Young Boys also had a success to celebrate. The team from Bern beat Printse-Nendaz 10:0 in the Cup.
However, the result should not be overrated in view of the upcoming match. Young Boys are in second-last place in the Swiss Super League after their false start. It is therefore also obvious – at least in our opinion – to place a bet on the visitors in Young Boys vs Galatasaray
Young Boys – Statistics & current form
This is not how Young Boys imagined the season would start. The defending league champions from Bern are in second-last place in the table with two points from the first five matchdays. And now the play-offs for Champions League qualification are taking place at the worst possible time.
“YB” will face Turkish record champions Galatasaray this week and will play the first leg at home. According to the bookmakers with a German license, the Bernese are the underdogs. Betting odds of up to 4.25 are currently available for a Young Boys vs Galatasaray bet on the Swiss hosts.
The only encouraging aspect is the fact that Young Boys have never lost to a Turkish club. The last time “YB” met Fenerbahce Istanbul was in the 2010/11 CL qualifiers, when they prevailed with an aggregate score of 3:2. The Swiss champions are now aiming for their next coup against “Cimbom.”
Are the Young Boys taking advantage of home advantage on artificial turf?
The Young Boys are still playing on the artificial turf in Bern. According to media reports, however, it is only a matter of time before the Bernese replace the turf and play on “natural grass”. Young Boys want to make the most of this advantage once again in the CL qualifiers.
Internationally, the yellow-and-blacks have only won two of their last six home matches. However, Young Boys have lost four of these six matches. Betting on a YB victory this time is therefore also associated with a lot of risk, especially as the weak start to the 2024/25 season also speaks against it.
YB coach Patrick Rahmen still has to overcome the personnel worries in the squad. Against Galatasaray, the Swiss side will have at least five players out through injury.
Predicted Young Boys line-up:
Von Ballmoos – Blum, Camara, Husic, Hadjam – Lauper, Niasse – Elia, Ugrinic, Colley – Ganvoula
Galatasaray – Statistics & current form
Galatasaray showed defiance after the bitter defeat in the Turkish Super Cup (0:5) and made a successful start to the new league season. After beating Hatayspor (2:1) on the first matchday of the Süper Lig, the lions from Istanbul also secured maximum points on the second matchday against Konyaspor (2:1).
Cimbom” will now go into the upcoming match against Young Boys with a broad chest. Galatasaray will be looking to set the course for a place in the group stage of the Champions League. Last season, Galatasaray were represented in the top flight and started in the second round of the CL qualifiers.
The Lions eliminated Zalgiris, Ljubljana and Molde in the qualifying phase. The latter were defeated in the play-offs. After the first and second legs, the Turkish record champions won 5:3 on aggregate. A similar result cannot be ruled out in the CL play-offs against Young Boys.
The Lions’ attacking play still needs improvement
The attacking department has a lot to offer. With players like Icardi, Batshuayi & Co., the Lions’ attack is very promising. In the first three competitive matches of the current season, however, the GS offense has not made the best impression.
It therefore remains difficult to assess whether the attacking play will get going against the Young Boys, especially as the necessary quality is available in the “Cimbom” squad. GS coach Okan Buruk will probably have to do without two important defenders in the squad. Köhn and Sánchez are currently on the injured list.
In 17 matches against Swiss clubs, Galatasaray have only lost four times so far. The Turkish record champions have won eleven of these 17 matches, and there have also been two draws. If you are inclined to bet on another GS win in the Young Boys vs Galatasaray match, you can also use a sports betting bonus.
Predicted Galatasaray line-up:
Muslera – Jelert, Nelsson, Bardakci, Dubois – Torreira, Demirbay – Yilmaz, Mertens, Aktürkoglu – Icardi
Young Boys – Galatasaray head-to-head / H2H result
For the first time ever, the two clubs will meet in a competitive match. Previously, there was only one test match as part of the 2016 Uhren Cup, which ended in a draw between the two clubs
Young Boys – Galatasaray tip
Galatasaray are not only the stronger team on paper, but have also made the better start to the season compared to Young Boys from Bern. The Bernese are in second-last place in the Super League 2024/25 and have not won any of their first five league games.
The resounding victory in the cup against a lower-ranked opponent like Printse-Nendaz should not be overrated. One advantage is certainly the artificial pitch at the Wankdorf stadium. It remains to be seen how “Cimbom” will cope with the pitch conditions, but Young Boys do not radiate optimism with four defeats in their last six home games on the international stage.
Our Young Boys vs Galatasaray betting tip therefore aims for a win for the Turkish visitors at odds of 1.84. We use five units for this. Alternatively, we also recommend betting on a high-scoring match. Young Boys have conceded 2+ goals per game in five of their six competitive matches this season
