In a new episode of our talk show, our reporters discuss VfL Bochum’s training camp in Scheffau and a possible starting lineup for the first test match against Leverkusen.
VfL Juve, Vlahovic’s agent on his way. From Milan to La Liga, to renewal: all the scenarios
Darko Ristic is expected in Turin to meet with the club: in the next 24-48 hours, it will be clear what approach the Serbian striker wants to take with the club.
Darko Ristic is arriving in Turin, and in the next 24-48 hours at the latest, it will be clearer what approach Dusan Vlahovic wants to take with Juve to manage a relationship that now appears to be falling apart. The striker is out of the club’s plans but still has a year left on his contract worth a significant amount: that $12 million includes the loyalty bonus agreed upon when he arrived in Turin. He weighs almost $20 million on the balance sheet, so based on the silence of recent weeks, it is unlikely that Juve will receive an offer to close the deal. Rather, the agent could bring to the table a series of alternatives to those that have been speculated so far.
The Milan option for Vlahovic is concrete. The Rossoneri club is looking for a finisher, and Allegri has always held the Serbian in high regard, at least since he welcomed him to Turin and gave him the opportunity to make the leap to a top club. The player is now more mature and his need to express himself better in a new environment could be a good fit for Milan. At the Continassa, they are trying to create the optimal conditions for a short-term exit: in this sense, Milan is playing the waiting game so that it can keep the offer below the asking price.
La Liga’s interest in Vlahovic— Milan’s idea is to cover half of his salary, based on the €8 million figure: Juve would save €3-4 million, but would still have to pay double that amount between the missing salary and the €4 million bonus, which will not be easy to dispose of in any other way. The scenario pushes Juve to keep other doors open in order to raise the stakes, focusing above all on international relations with top clubs that could sway the player’s ambitions: Vlahovic could enter the picture in talks with Atletico Madrid for Molina (who is surplus to requirements on the non-EU list), as he is Serbian and therefore considered an EU player in Spain. Barcelona has also continued to monitor Vlahovic: the possibility of picking up Lewandowski’s legacy in the future would not leave Juve’s number 9 indifferent.
juve-vlahovic, from termination to renewal— The meeting between Juve and Vlahovic’s agent will reveal the direction the relationship will take. The possibility of termination seems disproportionate for Juve, which would still have to spend around €10 million to let go of a player who would cost €12 million at worst for the last year: the striker has the right characteristics to fit into Tudor’s project, and the club could instead push for him to be used as a reserve in the year leading up to the World Cup. Alternatively, by reaching an agreement based on renewed collaboration, Vlahovic could extend his contract by one year and move on loan with an obligation to buy to his new club, thus lowering the amortization charge for Juve and keeping the purchase price lower. No offers have arrived at Continassa so far, but the arrival of Ristic could open up new scenarios. Bochum has completed its training camp in Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser in Austria and further test matches. The second division season starts in two weeks. Does Dieter Hecking already have a starting eleven in mind for the match against SV Darmstadt 98? Will there be any changes to the squad?
Presenter Nicole Dreisbach discusses this with VfL reporters Markus Rensinghoff and Günther Pohl in a new episode of “Inside VfL – the Stadtwerke Bochum talk show from WAZ and Radio Bochum.”
The two accompanied VfL in Austria, attended all training sessions and test matches, and conducted numerous interviews with players, coach Dieter Hecking, and those responsible.
The three also talk about what will happen to Moritz Broschinski. He remains VfL’s top scorer in the preseason. However, it is still unclear whether he will stay. A transfer of Ibrahima Sissoko or Matus Bero could also still happen.
