Will the Magpies stay on course for the Champions League?
West Ham United celebrated important home victories over Southampton, Nottingham and Everton. With 27 points, the Hammers’ lead over the first relegation place is still only one point, which is why the situation remains precarious.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are third in the table and heading for their first Champions League appearance in 21 years. The betting on West Ham against Newcastle is accordingly coherent, with the in-form Magpies also able to take something tangible away from the London Stadium.
However, the Hammers have been unbeaten in three successive Premier League meetings with the Magpies (two wins, one draw). In addition, David Moyes’ side have not lost any of their last five Premier League home games (three wins, two draws). Consequently, West Ham’s prediction against Newcastle should at least take into account the possibility of a draw.
Accordingly, it makes sense to use the double chance X2. In principle, away trips to the Hammers have always been under a good star for the Magpies. Only at Tottenham (eleven) have Newcastle celebrated more Premier League away victories than at West Ham (ten). As the compact defence of the north-easterners will once again be the key to success, we do not expect a goal festival at the London Stadium.
Consequently, our recommendation goes to the combined tip on the double chance X2 at under 3.5 goals.
West Ham – Statistics & current form
While the coaching carousel continues to spin in the Premier League following the recent sackings of Antonio Conte, Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter, West Ham United are adamant about sticking with successful coach David Moyes, who has guided the Hammers to two consecutive years in international competition.
In the current season, however, the players from London’s East End are fighting against relegation and are experiencing setbacks from time to time. With eleven games still to play, the Irons are currently in 14th place with a one-point lead over the first relegation place.
Unbeaten in five Premier League home games
The Hammers are unbeaten in five Premier League home games (three wins, two draws) and have won the important duels against their direct rivals Southampton, Everton and Nottingham.
In fact, the Londoners celebrated six of their only seven victories in the 2022/23 season in the Premier League at their own stadium. The ratio of 86% is the highest in the league, but that should be encouraging for the Irons, who also boast the fifth-best home defence in the Premier League with just 14 goals conceded.
West Ham are missing a goal-scorer
While the odds are against the Moyes eleven in West Ham v Newcastle. However, at least the recent record is right. The Hammers have not lost any of their last three Premier League games against the Magpies (one win, two draws).
But: The team from London’s East End sometimes lacks penetrating power in their forward play. Not only are the 25 goals scored the sixth lowest in the Premier League, but not a single player in the 22-man squad has scored more than four league goals over the course of the season.

Newcastle – Statistics & current form
What has been invested at Newcastle United in recent transfer periods by the new owner, namely the consortium led by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund Public Investment Fund, is still noticeably topped by some other Premier League clubs. Nevertheless, the current success of the north-easterners is primarily due to the new financial injection.
However, coach Eddie Howe has also been able to form a remarkable unit out of the revamped team, which is playing for a return to the Champions League after a 21-year abstinence, especially because just 19 goals have been conceded in 27 league games – the best figure in the league.
Recently three wins in a row again
The fact that NUFC have by far the best defence in the Premier League favours our bet on a low-scoring clash between West Ham and Newcastle. In addition, the Magpies can also hope to keep their whitewash against the Hammers’ less penetrative attack.
Although the team from the north-east of England also lacked the final offensive punch here and there. But at least in their last three league games, all of which they won, Newcastle United always scored exactly two goals of their own.
The fewest defeats in the Premier League
With these three victories, Howe’s side not only maintained third place in the current table, but also successfully ended a mini crisis when, in the wake of the lost EFL Cup final (0:2 against Manchester United), they went five consecutive games without a win on record (two draws, three defeats), in which only two goals were scored in total.
However, the defensive-minded Magpies are extremely difficult to beat, as evidenced by the fact that no other team in the Premier League has fewer defeats than the north-easterners (just three).

West Ham – Newcastle Direct comparison / H2H record
Head to head: 43 – 40 – 58
There have been a total of 141 meetings between the two teams so far and the Magpies lead the direct comparison with 58 victories. However, Newcastle are currently on a three-game Premier League winning streak against the Hammers (two draws, one defeat). The only time NUFC went winless against West Ham for longer than that was between 1998 and 2000 (then for six games).
West Ham – Newcastle Tip
For West Ham vs Newcastle, our prediction goes for the Magpies to pick up a point despite the Hammers’ recent home form, having not lost any of their last five Premier League home games (three wins, two draws). In total, NUFC have lost only three of their 27 Premier League games so far and are on course for the Champions League, having won three in a row recently. The north-easterners have already scored 23 points more than the Irons so far.
Both teams have also been very compact defensively recently, which is why betting on a not overly high-scoring duel is very valid. Because it is advisable to take the possibility of a draw into account anyway, our recommendation goes to the combined bet on the double chance X2 at under 3.5 goals.
