Does Eintracht have to worry about Europe again?
Sporting-wise, the world at VfB Stuttgart is currently rosy and full of cheer. However, various side issues are ensuring that the Hoeneß team’s outstanding season has recently become a minor matter. Above all, the internal power struggle within the management team is causing head-scratching.
There are also question marks hanging over the future plans of some of the stars. Guirassy is regularly linked with top clubs with more money to spend, Führich and Anton are just as sought-after and, for financial reasons, there is probably only a small chance of Deniz Undav remaining in Bad Cannstatt beyond the summer. The minimum requirement would be successful qualification for the top flight
The Swabians want to take the next step towards a top-four finish on Saturday evening. The third-placed team in the table will face the sixth-placed team from the Main metropolis at home. Ahead of VfB Stuttgart’s match against Frankfurt, a bet on a home win is just 1.55 as the highest odds on the three-way market. The bookmakers are therefore firmly convinced that the successful run of the high-flyers from the Kesselstadt will continue. Incidentally, the eagle bearers also make a decisive contribution to this assessment.
The SGE is not only struggling with a downward form curve, but also with a tense personnel situation. Nevertheless, the Black & Red & Whites are always able to stand up to all opponents at a decent level. Nevertheless, when it comes to the VfB Stuttgart vs Frankfurt prediction, the pros outweigh the cons in favor of a win for the home side. VfB Stuttgart – Statistics & current form
Since last Saturday, the group stage of the reformed UEFA Champions League 2024/25 has come a good deal closer for VfB Stuttgart. The Swabians won 1:0 away at direct rivals Dortmund to move seven points clear of BVB. However, the race for the coveted tickets remains exciting, even though coach Sebastian Hoeneß’ team, in its current form, need not worry too much about slipping down to fifth place.
VfB have now been unbeaten in ten Bundesliga games and have picked up an incredible 26 out of a possible 30 points during this period. Incidentally, the last time a Stuttgart team went eleven consecutive games in the top flight without defeat was when a certain Giovanni Trapattoni was still on the touchline (2005).
Although the third-placed team in the current Bundesliga season is feared above all for its perfectionist positional play, it has also been the defense that has left its mark on many matches recently. Keeper Alexander Nübel has kept a clean sheet in three of the last four matches. Looking back at the last nine third division matches, only Heidenheim and Wolfsburg have scored twice or more against VfB. Even without defensive boss Anton, the surprise team remained at Signal Iduna Park. And that was despite the fact that midfielder Angelo Stiller played as a central defender for the first time in his professional career
Will Guirassy be Stuttgart’s matchwinner again?
It’s also exciting that the Swabians regularly start games well this season. Only Bayer Leverkusen have been ahead at the break more often (18) than Hoeneß’ side (17), who have led after 45 minutes in eleven of their last 13 Bundesliga wins alone. The 28 goals scored before the break were also only surpassed by Leverkusen and Bayern. Unsurprisingly, the odds on the double result HT1/FT1 are also included in our top tip table ahead of VfB Stuttgart’s clash against Frankfurt.
We also find value in a somewhat more creative goalscorer bet. This is aimed at top attacker Serhou Guirassy scoring the 1:0 on Saturday evening. On the one hand, the scorer of the winning goal from the Dortmund game is having a sensational season with a total of 24 goals for the season and is scoring at will. Secondly, the brawny attacker has already scored the important 1-0 for his club nine times. The Swabians have gone on to win seven of these nine matches
Predicted line-up of VfB Stuttgart:
Frankfurt – Statistics & current form
The successes of recent years have significantly raised expectations at Eintracht Frankfurt. As Europa League winners in 2022 and Champions League round of 16 finalists in 2023, even sixth place in the interim rankings seems inadequate for many fanatical supporters. More problematic than the situation in the table, which would definitely entitle the team to another season in the Europa Conference League as things stand, however, is the unsatisfactory way in which Dino Toppmöller’s team is currently playing soccer.
The next setback came last Friday, when SGE were held to a dismal 1-1 draw at home to Werder Bremen. A week earlier, the Hessians had already drawn at home against Union Berlin (0:0). A 3-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund left the Black & Reds without a win in three Bundesliga games. They have only won three of their eleven games in the second half of the season (3-6-2). The many point splits prevent a better interim result
Toppmöller has to do without important regular players
From the Eagles’ point of view, they must not let up in the fight for Europe, because although they have a relatively comfortable six-point lead over the seventh-placed team, it should not be forgotten that Eintracht still have to face Bayern, Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and VfB Stuttgart in the final sprint of the season. With the exception of the curious 5:1 win at home against Bayern and an extremely fortunate 1:0 away win in Leipzig, the Toppmöller team have not been able to get much, especially against the top teams in the Bundesliga. This is one of the reasons why we are not predicting a surprise win between VfB Stuttgart and Frankfurt.
To make matters worse, the coach, who does not have a particularly good standing with a not inconsiderable number of supporters, will once again have to reshuffle his team in a number of positions at the weekend. Tuta will have to sit out two games following his red card. Dina Ebimbe is suspended with a yellow card. Skhiri and Ekitiké are also in danger of missing out. Hugo Larsson is pushing for a place in the starting eleven, but there aren’t many other high-quality options left
Despite the fact that playing soccer is sometimes easier when you’re desperate and under no great pressure, it’s too risky for us to play the odds on the visitors ahead of VfB Stuttgart’s Saturday evening game against Frankfurt. If you disagree, you can find 4.60 for the next draw after 90 minutes at Bet3000.
Predicted Frankfurt line-up:
VfB Stuttgart – Frankfurt head-to-head comparison / H2H result
Deniz Undav in particular will have fond memories of the first leg. The German international scored a brace to help his team to a 2:1 away win at Deutsche Bank Park. All three goals were scored in the first 45 minutes. However, the Swabians have had problems at home against SGE in the recent past. They have not won any of their last five home games. One of only two home defeats under Sebastien Hoeneß came against Eintracht – in the DFB Cup semi-final of the previous season. The aim now is to polish up their poor home record and end the run of three home defeats in a row
VfB Stuttgart – Frankfurt betting tip
The fixture between VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt has – purely statistically – a big advantage for the Swabians. While Sebastian Hoeneß’ team have won all five Saturday evening games this season, the eagle bearers have now been waiting five games on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. for a three-pointer.
However, the current form of both teams has far more influence on the VfB Stuttgart vs Frankfurt betting odds. VfB are unbeaten in ten Bundesliga games and have 26 points out of a possible 30. Eintracht, on the other hand, have failed to score three times in a row and have also disappointed on the pitch. Apart from that, coach Dino Toppmöller will have to do without key players at the weekend as part of the 29th matchday in the top flight. Once again, he will have to rebuild his team, which is not brimming with confidence anyway
We therefore agree with the bookmakers’ assessment and are confident that the Swabians will live up to their role as favorites. VfB have led at half-time in eleven of their last 13 league wins. In the first leg (2:1), the third-placed team also laid the foundations for success before the break. It is quite possible that this will be the case again on Saturday. In any case, we’ll try to predict that VfB Stuttgart and Frankfurt will lead at half-time and ultimately come out on top
