Are the Pirates’ slump set to continue?
With five defeats from their first five league games, Cadiz made an absolute false start to the 2022/23 season. The Andalusians failed to score in all five games. The situation is correspondingly tense for the team that only just managed to stay in the league this summer after a strong final spurt in 17th place in the final table.
Now Cadiz host promoted Valladolid in Castilla y León in a basement duel. The Ronaldo club has found it similarly difficult to score goals, but is currently 17th in the table and just above the line. Consequently, in the run-up to the match between Valladolid and Cadiz, the bookmakers’ odds are swinging in the direction of the home side.
Real Valladolid have taken four points from a possible 15 so far, but have conceded ten goals while scoring just three. After a home win against fellow promoted Almería, another home win against the current bottom of the table would still be an absolute “big point” for the Albivioletas.
With two weak offensives, not many goals are to be expected. Nevertheless, we find the greater value than in the sub-bet on Valladolid against Cadiz in tip 1. After all, the Andalusians have presented themselves too frighteningly weak so far. Hedging the bet via “Draw No Bet” does not make too much sense, though.
Valladolid – Statistics & current form
Real Valladolid Club de Fútbol, owned since 2018 by former world footballer Ronaldo Nazario, returned to Spain’s top flight this summer in second place in La Liga 2. The goal for Pacheta, the coach of the promoted team, is very simple: to stay in the league.
The fact that half of the Albivioletas’ squad has been turned over in the transfer market shows that this is not an easy task. Consequently, the automatic mechanisms are not yet fully in place. Nevertheless, the promoted team is currently in a non-relegation spot – albeit only just.
Three goals were already enough for four points
The Castilla y León club have picked up four points out of a possible 15 so far, which is a remarkably good return considering their lacklustre attack. In five league games, the Albivioletas have scored just three goals.
However, one of these three goals was enough to win the home match against fellow promoted Almería with 1:0. Exactly these important three points are now to be followed up against the current bottom team in the table, for which, however, the defence must also improve. Ten goals have already been conceded in five league games – an average of two per game.
Winless in four league games against Cadiz
However, because the visitors are still without points or goals, the 17th-placed promoted side are still favourites in this match. The betting on a home win for the Pacheta team against Cadiz in Valladolid is also quite good, but it is by no means a foregone conclusion.
After all, the Albivioletas have been winless in four consecutive league games against the Andalusians (three draws, one defeat). However, at least the two previous encounters resulted in 1-0 victories, which Valladolid would certainly sign immediately in this basement duel.
Predicted line-up of Valladolid:

Cadiz – Statistics & current form
Cadiz Club de Fútbol were still playing in the third division seven years ago, but were then initially promoted to La Liga 2 in the summer of 2016, before the Andalusians even made the jump to La Liga four years later.
Here, the Piratas first held their own in twelfth place in the final table, before last season, in the darned second year, they almost went down another level. Only a haul of eleven points out of a possible 21 in the final spurt resulted in a lucky last-minute stay in the league on match day 38.
Still pointless and goalless after five games
Until now, Cadiz have failed to capitalise on what was supposed to be a second chance to stay in the league, which at times was no longer thought possible. Although coach Sergio was retained and selective reinforcements came in, the Andalusians have lost all five league games to start the season.
Particularly brutal: with 14 goals conceded, the Pirates have not yet scored a single goal of their own. The Yellow Submarine (Spanish: “El Submarino Amarillo”) is determined to break the deadlock in Castilla y León at all costs.
No away win in Valladolid since 2004
Looking at the table, which shows zero points from a possible 15 with 0:14 goals, the 17th-placed team of the pre-season travels to the Spanish north-west as underdogs.
Although the visitors are currently unbeaten in four competitive games against the Albivioletas. Complicating the Pirates’ poor record, however, is the fact that Cadiz CF have not won an away game at the Estadio José Zorrilla since December 2004….

Valladolid – Cadiz Direct comparison / H2H balance
Head to head: 13 – 14 – 11
There have been a total of 38 meetings between the two teams so far. Although Valladolid have gone winless against Cadiz four times in a row recently, the Albivioletas also lead the head to head comparison with 13 wins.
Valladolid – Cadiz Tip
When it comes to Valladolid against Cadiz, the prediction clearly goes in the direction of the home side, who have also had clear problems with just three goals from five league games, but who have at least already picked up four points and already won their last home game 1-0. On the other hand, the visitors from Andalusia are still without points or wins and have not won an away game in Valladolid since 2004.
This match is predestined for betting on less than 2.5 goals. However, because the visitors have no choice but to force the turnaround with more offensive behaviour, there are also certain risks involved. The most coherent bet is therefore on a home win for the Albivioletas.
